had a 91' 240sx stock and i raced many of those prelude vtec and i smoked them all, i had no problems.

Were they parked? ;) Just jokin. Maybe they had absolutely NO idea how to drive, or maybe they were automatics and you never raced long enough.

I've driven both, lude wins hands down. I've beat many a 'faster' car in my TA - but I've been told I know how to drive my car very well and maybe thats how I get the upper hand.

I used to have an automatic 89' 240sx, I raced a 92-95 vtec prelude stick and smoked him. This obviously never should have happened. The guy was the worst driver I believe I have ever seen. There was no good reason whatsoever why he should have lost. The Prelude will win no contest.

the sx. Kills the teggy in torque, they weigh about the same, and if im not mistaken doesnt the DOHC motor put out more power than the LS? I'm pretty sure it does so the safe bet would be on the sx. Especially with less mileage, and I doubt the NGK spark plugs and wires gave him any advantage.

I have been on this board awhile even though i haven't posted and i thought i should say i have an 89 240sx and i smoke preludes of all kinds up here at mile high and the reason i think i beat them is 1. rwd drive launchs work very well and 2. i make my 140hp and 150ft lbs (sae) at 3600 and 4200 rpms or around there and hondas make theirs about 4 seconds to slow

Right now I'm in North Jersey, Hillside, right next to Newark.

However I am moving to South Jersey, to attend Stockton College, I'll probably be more south than you...Exit 44 on the Pkwy, 15 mins from AC.

GEARING

The lude has more power, similar weight, wider powerband (good topend), and it has quicker gearing than the 240.

There is no reason why the lude won't destroy the 240. An SOHC is at best a 16.5 car, the Lude is a 15.6 or so car.

This is true. A buddy of mine had a Prelude SI(Non VTEC) and we both ran 15.8(When I had my 91 S13). He was at the top of 4th gear while I was at the top of third. The SI version has only 160 HP but is heavier than an S13. Now add another 35 HP and I would have been seeing his taillights.

I raced 4 or 5 preludes in my old S13 and never lost - only one was for sure a vtech and i'm 100% sure the guy had no idea how to drive - that or the car was on it's last legs.

sorry, but the lude will kill. my friend has a 93 vtec that was quite quick. now he will eat me for breakfast, but thats off the subject. 185k miles and a bad driver, in a less powerful car. i dont think he has a chance.
