Even if you dont vote, lets pretend this is a chance to cast your vote via NICO. who would you vote for and why?

Lets try to keep this as honest as possible. i know the red & blue dont agree on many things, but honesty is the start to building a bridge.
lets stop slinging dirt on the 'other' side, that both sides are just as guilty of.

Options:

Incumbent President Barack Obama is running for a second and final term during this election.
Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.
The Libertarian Party nominee is former New Mexico governor Gary Johnson.
The Green Party nominee is Jill Stein.

I don't think there will be much ROmney support without knowing his running mate (IMO Rubio).

Will update later with my choice.

I dont mind announcing that I've tipped my hat toward Romney. This election, for conservatives, is really not about who they want to vote for, its who they know they damned well can't vote for, with a clear conscience. So basically, my choice is an anti-Obama choice. If you want to know why its anti-Obama, go pop over and read my rant on the "Will Obama be a descedant of Jesus" thread.

So why is Romney my anti-Obama choice? Well simply because he's the only one with a prayer of winning. A vote for anyone besides the 2 front runners is merely a symbolic vote. It wont result in a winner. I dont want to say that anyone else is a "wasted" vote, I dont like that terminology, but I do think its an exercise in futility.

I would be happy with a few different VP choices, Marco Rubio and Allen West top my list. Id say Herman Cain, but then we'd have the whole falsified affair garbage to deal with all over again, and we don't need that. Its unfortunate, because he'd actually do a better job than Romney. I think Mitt's gonna drag the suspense out until the convention.

again i agree with a lot of what you have to say. im not 'hot' for Romney, but honestly - anyone but Obama. He's a total socialist with a scary agenda. My whole family and I have lived through socialism - and its NOTHING like what the liberals think it is. Thats why we, along with millions ran from nations that have socialism. Just like millions continue to run till today. You end up spreading more poverty, than wealth. Its a total motivation killer. Eventually like in every nation; everyone stops working, or starts working to a complete minimal.

True that this is more that Mitt is a lesser evil to me. Neither of the 2 main parties have a 'great' runner to me. There will never be a good presidential canadiate, unless we figure how to get a non-rich person to be able to run.

I probably won't vote though, usually this state seems concrete in which way they'll vote so it seems useless.

I'm going Obama.

Things I liked
-Pulled out of Iraq
-End of DOTA
-End of Bin Laden
-End of Hussein
-End of Gaddahfi
-No full blown invasion of any mid east or other country
-Health care
-Kind of holding a line on ending Bush era tax cuts
-Slowing DOD spending
- Amnesty for illegal immigrants who have not broken the law, gained a degree
- Improved nations world image

Things I wish he would do
-End support for Israel
-Do some actual education reform
-Figure a way out to get rid of Citizens United standing
-More alternative energy push

Things I wish he wouldn't have done:
-Bailout (even though they supposedly have worked)

go ahead and add this to that list:
Double federal program to help "reverse" commuters who go from city to suburbs - FAIL
Support tax deduction for artists - FAIL
Expose Special Interest Tax Breaks to Public Scrutiny- FAIL
Seek independent watchdog agency to investigate congressional ethics violations - FAIL
Establish a low carbon fuel standard - FAIL
The tax cut that failed
Neglecting the Federal Reserve
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
how many trillions in debt?
added how many troops to Afghanistan?
got involved with GITMO?
wanting to have the terrorists tried in NYC?

dude your list better reflect the truth, or you loose credibility.
the left LOVE to blame bush for what "obama inherited". but when the inheritance means that enough progress in a war was made that during his presidency, a couple big terrorists were killed = its now all obama's credit, and not something he "inherited". get real. if it wasnt not for the war bush started, obama wouldnt have such a great "inheritance" to now claim "his".

you cant take in some friendly forum debate? you gotta run away from a rebuttal? why so sensitive?

You cant hold a decent conversation where you admit defeat either on behalf of yourself, or your political party. you have blatantly ignored posts where you clearly were hypocritical. (like when you dismissed mayors telling CFA to stay away;
sorry that the truth burns buddy. if you dont want to be challenged based upon your replies to your posts, better start posting on the huffington post, where you wont be challenged.

Definitely NOT Romney. A bold-faced liar and Ultra-Capitalist? No thanks. Plus, say goodbye to pro-choice, anything related to stem-cells, equal-rights marriages, and MMJ. I wonder if we'll ever have an Atheist president...

Romney wouldn't have a prayer of touching Roe-V-Wade. Partial birth procedures are still up in the air, but do you seriously like that practice? As far as stem cells, science has already surpassed the need for embryonic stem cells. They're still easier and cheaper to get while the Bush allowed sources are there, but once they dry up, there'll be no need to ponder the moral/ethical battle of embryonic stem cells. Yes Romney could possible influence marriage equality (bad term, theres really no inequality in marriage, symantically, no man can marry another man, neither can any woman marry another woman, orientation aside) but honestly I think social pressure on this issue has escalated beyond stopping it. Honesty, none of the afore mentioned issues matter to me at the moment. The economy is THE end all be all of this election, and the entire upcoming term.

I was leaning towards reelecting the President ever since the nonsense with the debt ceiling. Regardless of whatever policies the President might advocate, a term-limited President means a President the opposition doesn't have to work to defeat, to the detriment of the nation. The Republican Party has taken upon itself the task of opposing every policy put forward by the Democrats and the President in particular, regardless of the policy's merits, and regardless of the harms that come from said opposition. Were President Obama to come out and advocate for world peace and the second coming of Christ, Republicans would suddenly "find Jesus" and start screaming, "HAIL SATAN."

In recent days, Governor Romney has been saying things that lead me to believe is (a) mentally-retarded, or (b) pandering to the mentally-retarded. He's had a string of terrible gaffes, and add that onto my fears of what the rising ultraconservative streak of the Republican Party would do with control over the entire American government without an effective check from anywhere else, and my vote is effectively sealed at this point.

Absent a Weiner-like fall from grace, I doubt very much that there's anything that could be done to change my vote from here on in.

conservative, is what normal nations & cultures are. people that have respect for themselves & women & children. people that act appropriately. people that can conduct themselves professionally, etc.

LOOK AROUND, WHO'S GOT CLASS NOW A DAYS? WHO IS ACTUALLY PRESENTABLE? and this isnt a youth problem anymore. people are now being this way in adulthood, because people condone this crap. back in the day as an adult this was socially unacceptable. now a days god forbid you say something.... your instantly labeled

I'm not sure who I'm voting for yet. But I am sure of who I'm not voting for: Romney. He may be the devil incarnate, and I'm not interested in someone who wants to take us back to the stone age.

what i meant by that was lets stop with the BS: "well the republicans are all rich!" - or the "republicans do tax write-offs!" - or the "republicans only want it their way!" - or the "republicans dont budge!".

because there is more than enough of clear cut cases on both sides. it gets old hearing one side claim the other is doing something - but both sides do. :werd:

"No, no. I have been practicing...I bowled a 129. It's like -- it was like Special Olympics, or something." --making an off-hand joke during an appearance on "The Tonight Show", March 19, 2009 (Obama later called the head of the Special Olympics to apologize)

lets not insult one another. ok? not cool. i know you think of yourself as some 'scholar' but seriously, come back down to earth.
As fun as it might be to go ahead and make fun of you for every single one of those quotes you chose, I think I'll spare the thread.
well lucky for me i guess, we are not here to make fun of one another. again, deflate that big heat of yours.
You cite examples of President Obama saying things he doesn't believe accidentally. You cite examples of President Obama saying things he does believe in a way that, if he thought about it, he probably wouldn't say.
sure, like when he said: "I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody." - he doesnt really believe that... how could i say such a thing? I AM WORTHY OF YOUR MOCKERY!

I'm only voting for Obama because I'd rather have somebody who tells me that they're selling me a half-truth in all seriousness than somebody who wears a greasy smile and pretends that his half-truth is the spoken gospel.

Obama hasn't done everything he said he would. So what? I can't name a single president that did. Plus, I'd rather have a known known than a known unknown captaining my ship. Sorry lads.

It is the reason why incumbents do have a significant advantage in many ways. :yesnod

But, it also makes the reason for term limits quite vital ... somebody new may be able to do a better job too, but they may not get the opportunity otherwise.
