i raced a vr6 with my hicas s13 on the freeway (for all you anti-street race lobbists out there, it was a closed course and the cars were driven by profesional drivers) and anyway, we were pretty even at first but the faster we went, the faster he pulled on me. when we were doing like 110ish, he passed me like a supra (i started ahead of him)

edit- it was the ~170hp one

edit2- i also drove it, i was NOT impressed with the torque at all. good topend, but not so good midrange for a 6cyl

edit3- forgot to add, he had a chipped ecu and i have an unorthodox crank pulley

edit4- last night i raced a much older jetta again on the freeway (the same scenario as before!) and it was a freaking joke, i wasn't even sure he was trying till i talked to him afterward. he had a couple seconds headstart too while i was trying to figure out if he wanted to race or not. his only mod i could see was a fat can muffler.

I did not give this dyno example to speculate which car would win a street race, but to exhibit drivetrain loss w/ similiar HP output ( not torque) engines and FWD, RWD layouts. If you want a more real world camparison take a 04' maxima vs. a 04' G35 sedan. Given the identical engine and output (maxima is actually rated at 5 more hp)and 6-speed, the Maxima should post better acceleration numbers. It does not. I know this does not neccessarily support my belief that RWD layout is as or more efficient than FWD, it does however make an argument for RWD having weight transfer to it's advantage at launch as the Maxima has a harder time harnessing 265 hp through it's front wheels i.e. torque steer. Just thought i'd throw that into the mix for shyts and giggles. Know concerning the the original post I think a VR6 would take an S13 given both are stock, although w/ those mods I cannot speculate. Having driven my Father's VR6 and owning an S13 I can say the VR6 does have better topend, however it would be a close race. This has already been established so I guess the point is mute. I guess we'll all just have to meet in an undisclosed location w/ the cars in question and finally put this argument to rest.

i agree with you 100% there. i even said that earlier that fwd is better up to a certain hp point, then rwd is easier to make traction with.

Well atleast we agree on something, the one thing I don't think we'll ever agree on is the benefits of FWD at all. You are obviuosly partial to a FWD layout and me RWD, and that's the way it is. I noticed you have an Altima w/ a silvia front how does that look? I'm curious.

I'm a fool I obviously misread your info, please strike that question about the Altima from the record. I thought that a little peculiar, maybe subconsciously I felt you must have an Altima because of your name and your bias of FWD. Whatever the reason, please don't justify mt inaptness w/ a response.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for highlighting a simple mispelling and bringing my own unparalleled ignorance to my attention. After all you obviously knew what I meant, yet you forged on and went to extra lengths to point out my shortcoming, so spitz7985 I thank you for that. :)

no actually, from a performance standpoint, i detest fwd. but it does have its benefits and i give credit where credit is due. rwd ownz, but fwd in a low hp chassis works quite well.

It's cool man, it was just a little joke.

You got something to prove, or do you actually talk like that? No offense if you do, just wondering.

I say VR6 I agree with asleep altima, its like turning a fan with a almost 40lbs 4 foot pole where as with FF layout it turning the fan with no pole.

Also Vtech is hella fast! I've been in my friend's si and still amazes me how fast it is, of course he is not stock. another car with alot of potenial is the Celica GTS, I've driven it. If you could shift good and keep it in Lift it could be a monster on the quarter mile. I've heard of some almost stock GTS running low 14's just with intake and exhaust but needs to be lightend

I understand that it was just a joke, as was my overtly sarcastic response. Although remember you should take into account other peoples feelings before your so quick to judge. You cut me, you cut me real deep.;)

P.S. I don't normally talk like that, only when I want to come across as an intellectual... oh, I mean a real f...ing smart kid (insert Boston accent).
