I just got my car back from Jim Wolf where he did the final tuning on my 96I30. He told me the car is putting out 425hp at the crank. When the motor is broken in and I can use synthetic oil I will dyno and go to the track to get a 1/4 mile time.

Hey, can you post some pics of the engine under the hood... I'd love to see how it fit in there. People talk about the swap all the time, I just want to see how cramped it must be.

s14, you'd better be bringing one hell of a hammer to take out anything with an LS1 in a straight.

Have you ever driven an LS1-powered car? I'm not trying to flame here, for once, but I would like to know.

And BTW, I'm dropping an RB in my 240 over the weekend. Shouldn't take but a few hours and a case of Coors...

OK, I don't wanna be an a$$, but hmmmm. Shouldn't the description include more than just a turbo timer and a "chip"? No fuel management mods? And on "street tires"?

My buddy's fully built 300ZX TT doesn't even crack 12's.

Haha, props to Repo Man and FryRice for calling em as they are.We actually do have a member that is running 10's I believe. He has his timeslip and mods list in his sig, but I can't remember who he/she is anymore....And don't forget about our latest R34 owner, his best time is 11.9 with 550hp.

Kind of cool how FryRice still beats the legendary Skyline though, congrats man!

Why? There are many stock block TTs that run 12s. Just wondering...

palmerwmd wrote:Well my Q has the real early type engine (first 18 months production) so I expect to be closer to 290hp stock, but I was told by our Gurus I should have about 317hp with JWT chip.If my engine is in perfect condition that is.

My Q dynoed at 238 hp (before a much needed TB cleaning). That would give me almost exactly 300 hp at the crank with a dirty TB.

Since it is much cleaner now, I expect more power now.

Most say a substantial power loss results from a dirty TB so the 317hp number at the crank sounds reasonable if not conservative.

How ever due to my auto transmission and 4000lbs weight car I wont post great 1/4 mile numbers.

The 1/4 mile number for early Q's (90,91 are 15.1 silghty more for 92,93)94/95's and are in the mid 15's , 97's to 01's hi 15's.

With the ECU and a decent runnign engine I hope to break into the 14 w/o too much difficulty come our NICO run on the 16th of Novemebr.

Hopefully it won't be too cold for my tires to hook up well.

Fred...:)

Fred, your Q put up a 1/4 mile run of 14.47 at 103mph.

me too actualy i don't like the 1/4 mile im more of a gt driver i don't now the...whole point of going down a straight line for like 12-11 sec. doesn't quite do it for me i need a greater edge

It might just be me or you guys have seriously underestimated the power of an RB26DETT in a light car because the skyline(R34) runs 12's stock and it weighs like 3500lb's and if you put the same engine in a lighter car, one that weighs about the same as a early Datsun(if it does im not that sure thought but it is probably close)it should do low to mid 11's because people have done the RB/240Z swap before and they ran 11.134 in the 1/4 mile on a stock RB26DETT and with more than a hundred hp increase I can see it breakin into the tens.:rant

Hey Ruben!!!

Good to hear from you.Was the above time w/o any mods, above, what I currently have?

I see you put a burnout pic of your/my/our car into SCC/January edition.:thumbup

So why do u think my Q ran so poor compared to when you ran it?I didnt hook up real well (35F) so, but its wasn't like I was spinning all over either. My 0-60 feet killed me. 2.5-2.6 sec.

I had a super good TB cleaning done (including runners) at T3 a year ago.So I figured I was still kinda clean in there. But latrely the engine has lost the glassy smoothness it (almost) had when I left T3.

Maybe I can chase down a couple of things and get anotehr TB cleaning, I am toying with takling a couple of days off and driving to T3 to make the car perfect again.

Fred...:)

PS: Still havent fixed my busted tail light and dent(s) in taillight vicinity..:mad

I wont be finding out my 1/4 time until this spring when the tracks open back up!

As for my HP, I'd love to have my car dyno'd just out of curiosity if if it's all stock for time being.

well in that case, 513rwhp on stock block equates to around 585 flywheel power. :)

Gots a 240 now

actually, the drivetrain losses for an MR2 are unexpectedly massive, something like 20%, so you're probably packing around 613@ flywheel, unless you know what your drivetrain losses are exactly from your previous dyno tuning and you've managed to cut down some of the inefficiency

well we consider drivetrain loss a little bit differently when at higher horsepower. We no longer believe its a percentage at that point, rather a fixed amount (roughly). I couldn't imagine losing 20% in my drivetrain, if that were the case the friction and heat alone would destroy the transmission. But this is all my opinion and from experienece with my own car. Hell if its is 20% I can finally get my 600HP license plate.

Friend of mine ran a 11.89@something (cant remember) it was on a built KA (cammed, PnP heads, etc.) w/ 325 shot N20 and slicks. The car blew up on the 2nd run, go figure.
