People have been getting pretty cranky lately for no good reason. I don't know why, but it ought to stop.

Historically, the Q section has been the most valuable and most adult section of NICO, with the friendliest and most helpful members. Thats why I keep coming back, trying to return the favor to the folks that helped me out and saved me thousands of dollars over the years. While much of NICO is occupied by potheads with 240s, the Q owners were always supposed to be the exception.

Folks are always tough on the Internet. Maybe if you all came to a meet and knew each other in person you'd be less prone to verbal abuse.

And many of these unfortunate shortsighted owners assume they are therefore inexpensive to maintain.

Nope, still a $50K+ car, the difference is the deferred maintenance that threatens your car's safety, performance and realiability if not corrected. Only after that do you have a reliable bargain.

Not everybody has the pleasure of owning an E46. When was the last time you cracked open your "Q Tool Box" to fix your BMW?

I fail to see why this statement has any relevance whatsoever in the non stop negative, pessimistic posting that you seem to enjoy so much nor the way a question gets answered. If you don't think the question deserves an answer don't post. Others have been saying that for months as well.

Are you just trying to see how high you can get your unhelpful/useless post count? I'm sure you have a record already that will stand for years!

Amen. I have stopped posting for if I hear one more person say, "It's a $50k car, so you have to maintain it, which you aren't, you cheap chump" everytime someone asks a simple question like preference on wiper blades. Needless to say, it gets old quickly. Especially repeated times on the same thread. Don't get me wrong, these people speak from experience, but holy hell, where is the fun spirit that is supposed to come with a hobby? I try to leave my poopy pants, "by the book" attitude at work. Lighten up, take a valium, let a silent but deadly go in a crowded elevator,....... something to crack a smile once in while! Anywho, I still respect each and all of you, but learn to lighten up and have a little fun.

Safety, performance and reliability may not be important to all members, but those traits are to most who use their care every day and are concerned about operational condition of the vehicle.

Have you been recieving or have you ever been even offered discounts for parts or labor based on your car's age or market value? Didn't think so. Sometimes the tuth is just the truth. Like this one.

Lets put your theory to the test. Next time your wife asks you "Does this dress make my a** look big?" Tell her "yes" and then tell her "Sometimes the truth is just the truth."

Then report back if you ever have sex agian.

You missed the point. However true it may be it doesn't justify treating someone like an idiot for asking or being a jerk to them, which is almost always how you come across by the way. There are better ways to suggest the proper way to do something. Your responses make it seem you are irritated they are even asking the question, if this is true don't read it or answer it!

The truth hurts. If you bought a 15 year old $50,000 car for $3,000 and think you can just run it without spending time AND money, then ask the same old questions that have been asked and answered here many time over, don't complain because everyone doesn't "feel your pain". I see a lot of members that have valid questions. Usually they are answered by fellow members gracefully. But there are some pretty silly questions too. Wanting to know if putting 22" wheels will make your Q faster, or you can save money by only changing oil every 20,000 miles because you put one of those toilet paper oil filters on your Q deserves the derision those kinds of questions usually get.

Maxnix answers a LOT of questions here with good advice, and helps a lot of guys out, and so does Q45Tech. I suspect that they probably get tired of seeing people ask some really dumb questions, frequently the same ones or at least the same kind, wasting bandwith doing so. Usually, those posters fail to provide even the most rudimentary information on their car, and want others to diagnose their problem by remote control .

"My car won't start, what's wrong with it?" "My Q misses, what could be causing that?" "How come I only get 16 MPG in heavy traffic with the A/C on?" "Why does my 18 year old Q45 with 240,000 miles clunk when I enter a sloped driveway with the wheels turned?" "I accidentally put diesel fuel in my Q45, why doesn't it run good?"

C'mon, guys. If you are 16 years old, haven't a clue about cars at all, and your dad gave you his '91 Q45 that he didn't maintain properly, don't get all pissy because someone tells you to do some research when you ask how to make it start easier. He's actually doing you a favor.

By all means, come here when you have a problem you can't solve by yourself. But fer cryin' out loud, at least give us some information about your car and exactly what it does or does not do so we can help you, and at least try some of the most basic diagnostic procedures to eliminate the most obvious possibilities.

Oh yeah, and leave the teenage texting slang and lack of capitalization and punctuation for your "homeys". If you want help here among adults, learn to respect those you want to help you by at least posting legible and understandable messages so we don't have to decipher them. If you're too lazy or tired to type actual words and/or type long runon sentences we're too lazy or tired to decode them.

Maxnix and Q45Tech have helped countless members here in NICO. Bashing them because they won't wipe your noses is not the way to encourage them to continue doing so.

Rant off.

Q45Tech is in a class all his own and Maxnix isn't in it. Don't lump them together just because Maxnix refers to him so much.

I guess your right, in 14,926 posts I'm sure Maxnix has helped at least a dozen or so people. Probably 90% of those merely said "Use the search button and read every post Q45Tech has ever posted"

Sorry, now I'm being the jerk, need to vent I guess.

One can always tell when one of the 240 guys wanders into an Engish only zone.

Sorry for the other's sensitivities. MAybe you need to go to the Dear Abby Forums to assuage your feelings?

Fortunately, my wife is very reliable, and is well maintained and reliable and performs impeccably as a human being.

Bingo! That's perfect advice for everyone here. But it ought to be taken a step further; If you don't want to offer constructive criticism then don't respond! If you hate VIP, non OEM, low riders, humongous tires, Honda's, bad grammar, FY33s, Jiffy Lubes, or whatever....let it go. "Push away from the Keyboard!!" OK you don't like it....we probably already know. If it's beneath your dignity or experience level than perhaps some of us rookies can help. When the item is over our heads then the experts can jump in and teach us all something. If the forum loses a few first time poster's who know zip about an internal combustion engine or which end of a screwdriver works than so be it.

The search function is great....but it's overrated. I have spent many many hours reading threads just to get up to speed on this car. But many times the search function just walks in circles around a topic, and there can be SIGNIFICANT difference of opinion....not to mention model differences. (How many transmission threads are there??) So guys ask and are are promptly bashed.

Do we have to be reminded every third thread that we lucked into a 50K car that requires a corresponding amount of maintenance on a yearly basis? It's no longer a 50K car! Does it cost more to maintain?? Hell yes, that's obvious. But should someone have put 45 grand back into a 10-15 year old car that he got for $5000? Would you? I submit not because it's a diminishing, depreciating investment. At some point they're all parts cars. We are here to fix our own cars, to try and see that it's done correctly and to save a reasonable amount of cash (if possible) in the process.

"members standards vary" Wonderful.....I'll stencil that on my tool box. But so do the depths of their wallets, patience, abilities and past experiences. But most importantly, so do their opinions. If a guy is hell bent to do something different after thoughtful and constructive counsel, let him. It's his car and his cash.

I'll shut up (unless I have a question which I am unable to answer in search).

LMAO! Oh snap! I thought I was the only one who noticed Briana's spelling errors. Ironically, he's one of the head cheerleaders for proper spelling and punctuation.

Now.

I can't deny Tech's wealth of knowledge, (nor his abundance of bookmarked links) but I would like to say that I've noticed a lack of social graces. I remember my first run in with him about my lack of an owner's manual.
