Historically, the Q section has been the most valuable and most adult section of NICO, with the friendliest and most helpful members. Thats why I keep coming back, trying to return the favor to the folks that helped me out and saved me thousands of dollars over the years. While much of NICO is occupied by potheads with 240s, the Q owners were always supposed to be the exception.
Folks are always tough on the Internet. Maybe if you all came to a meet and knew each other in person you'd be less prone to verbal abuse.
And many of these unfortunate shortsighted owners assume they are therefore inexpensive to maintain.ddrumman wrote:Qs have become inexpensive to own...... excuse me purchase, over the last few years.

Just kiddin', just trying to lighten the mood.

Not everybody has the pleasure of owning an E46. When was the last time you cracked open your "Q Tool Box" to fix your BMW?Jesda wrote:People have been getting pretty cranky lately for no good reason.
I fail to see why this statement has any relevance whatsoever in the non stop negative, pessimistic posting that you seem to enjoy so much nor the way a question gets answered. If you don't think the question deserves an answer don't post. Others have been saying that for months as well.maxnix wrote:And many of these unfortunate shortsighted owners assume they are therefore inexpensive to maintain.
Nope, still a $50K+ car, the difference is the deferred maintenance that threatens your car's safety, performance and realiability if not corrected. Only after that do you have a reliable bargain.
Safety, performance and reliability may not be important to all members, but those traits are to most who use their care every day and are concerned about operational condition of the vehicle.qsiguy wrote:

Lets put your theory to the test. Next time your wife asks you "Does this dress make my a** look big?" Tell her "yes" and then tell her "Sometimes the truth is just the truth."maxnix wrote:
Have you been recieving or have you ever been even offered discounts for parts or labor based on your car's age or market value? Didn't think so. Sometimes the tuth is just the truth. Like this one.

You missed the point. However true it may be it doesn't justify treating someone like an idiot for asking or being a jerk to them, which is almost always how you come across by the way. There are better ways to suggest the proper way to do something. Your responses make it seem you are irritated they are even asking the question, if this is true don't read it or answer it!maxnix wrote:Safety, performance and reliability may not be important to all members, but those traits are to most who use their care every day and are concerned about operational condition of the vehicle.

The truth hurts. If you bought a 15 year old $50,000 car for $3,000 and think you can just run it without spending time AND money, then ask the same old questions that have been asked and answered here many time over, don't complain because everyone doesn't "feel your pain". I see a lot of members that have valid questions. Usually they are answered by fellow members gracefully. But there are some pretty silly questions too. Wanting to know if putting 22" wheels will make your Q faster, or you can save money by only changing oil every 20,000 miles because you put one of those toilet paper oil filters on your Q deserves the derision those kinds of questions usually get.maxnix wrote:And many of these unfortunate shortsighted owners assume they are therefore inexpensive to maintain.

Bingo! That's perfect advice for everyone here. But it ought to be taken a step further; If you don't want to offer constructive criticism then don't respond! If you hate VIP, non OEM, low riders, humongous tires, Honda's, bad grammar, FY33s, Jiffy Lubes, or whatever....let it go. "Push away from the Keyboard!!" OK you don't like it....we probably already know. If it's beneath your dignity or experience level than perhaps some of us rookies can help. When the item is over our heads then the experts can jump in and teach us all something. If the forum loses a few first time poster's who know zip about an internal combustion engine or which end of a screwdriver works than so be it.qship96 wrote:...you dont like a members posts, dont read them and stop whining/i]
It may actually be a quartet.bullittandy wrote:You know StarPD I think you may be the final element of the tripartite of Tech, Maxnix and you. Of course you think his advice is good-its yours!
"The truth hurts." See my analogy above.
Leave it to this guy to refer to his wife as a well-oiled machine. Stepford wife or figment of imagination?maxnix wrote:One can always tell when one of the 240 guys wanders into an Engish only zone.
Sorry for the other's sensitivities. MAybe you need to go to the Dear Abby Forums to assuage your feelings?
Fortunately, my wife is very reliable, and is well maintained and reliable and performs impeccably as a human being.
