That does suck. I imagine driving with a copy of the police report noting the stolen plate will enable you to drive without fear of a ticket, but only for a few weeks. Unfortunately, It won't stop you from getting pulled over due to the lack of a plate. If you plan to keep the car, I would recommend biting the bullet, lube up, and order the replacement plate sooner than later. you might get away with it with your local cops, but not necessarily with other towns/counties. Sorry.hachiroku781 wrote:Last night I walked to the store to buy some smokes, and I come back to find my front plate missing. Who in their right mind thinks stealing a plate is acceptable. Had to file a stupid report. Now i was wondering would I still be able to drive the car without a front plate? I know its a stupid question. I just don't have time to go to the DMV and get butt raped by the ridiculous prices on new plates for the time being. End stupid rant about crack heads in my neighborhood.
PA only requires one plate on the rear.Dattebayo wrote:AFAIK, every state in the east requires a front plate by law unless it is farm equipment. And then it isn't allowed on the streets after dark.
Yeah, if you have a $0 deductible...infiniti_lineup wrote:Also, most automotive insurance companies will cover the cost of a new license plate if you report the incident to them.

I figured some states allowed only 1 rear plate butt I don't know which onesDattebayo wrote:AFAIK, every state in the east requires a front plate by law unless it is farm equipment. And then it isn't allowed on the streets after dark.
Same with AZ. I never even knew other states needed front plates until I was like 17.Jesda wrote:Florida = One plate

Wrong, these states only require one rear plate (those in bold are considered eastern states)Dattebayo wrote:AFAIK, every state in the east requires a front plate by law unless it is farm equipment. And then it isn't allowed on the streets after dark.
Funny, because my boy Steve from Delaware was just in town this weekend, and he said he got pulled over for not having his front tag. In his home state.Chaotic_Warlord wrote:Delaware

Beneficial to whom? To toll authorities, makes it easier to identify EZpass/toll violaters by front or rear pictures.PoorManQ45 wrote: Please explain a reason, other then surveillance, of why it is beneficial to have a front and rear plate.
A real reason or the reason old ladies at the DMV give me when I turn their state sponsored retirement-job into actual work?PoorManQ45 wrote:Only Nazi states require a front and rear plate.

If they catch you running a toll, they're going to want to take snapshots of the rear plate, since laws or not, it is the one you are most likely to have. If your car gets stolen, it's unlikely the plates will be on it for more than a few minutes. By the time you notice and report it, they're probably already off or the car is already somewhere it won't be seen or dumped.Bubba1 wrote:Beneficial to whom? If your car gets stolen (assuming you own a car worth stealing), the extra plate makes it a tad easier to spot/identify.
Best reason? Because it annoys PMQ.
