what do you want it to do? Turn them on at any time, without having to turn the running lights / headlights?

it's directly under the headlamp. It's a harness with two wires and a connector taped up. You just need to pull it down. I don't remember if I have it shown in the install video though.

hello
newbie here so please be gentle :) I am not too technical either and will need fog lamps installed on my 2010 Hatch SL.

I am picking my car up this afternoon. I would like to add fog lamps. I called a few dealers to ask how much it would cost. I am in Canada and was quoted around $700-750 installed not including %12 tax. :(

This is too much for me or probably most people.

What exactly do I need and where do you suggest I purchase the necessary items?

I will pay someone the labor to install. The dealer claims 2hrs labor.

Thanks

NCJack wrote:Oh, btw... You may find it cheaper to buy the ebay kit for the fogs and the finishers and buy the stalk separate. The stalk runs for about 50-60 bucks, and the ebay kit is 120.

Think about it...you can buy these parts total for about 180...or buy the OEM kit for 300 plus...have fun...by the way...this is the kit I bought, and im pretty sure this is the exact same finishers and fog housings as OEM, not some walmart thing.

You definately wont be disappointed with this...it is of very high quality and I am picky and a perfectionist in respect to my car. Plus, im sure some member from this board would be happy to take the leftovers from the ebay kit you dont want (switch and harness) since they are specifically meant for this car.

Regards,Jack

Is this everything I need to install on my Versa2010? I will just pay the dealer to install. They claim 2hrs. Thanks

Welcome, trellaine!

NCJack bought an aftermarket kit, but it does include everything you need. His switch goes in the dash, where the OEM part will fit on the light switch behind the steering wheel. The choice between them is yours as both will do the same thing (turn the foglights on). I created a video tutorial on nissversatech.com to install the OEM kit. NCJack did his photo tutorial in here. Both will get the same results, and the install is really easy. I think you can do it yourself if you can work a screwdriver. If you need more help, there are a few Canadians on here that may be close to you and can do the work with/for you and save a few dollars. Where are you located?

Aww thanks for the nice greeting :) I never really thought too much about fog lights until friends suggested I should get them due to the weather here on the wet coast. And esthetically it looks nicer, I just can't fathom to pay close to $800-900 through a dealer.

Thanks again and I will have a look at the video.

I am located very close to downtown Vancouver.

Thank u!!!

I got the OEM kit from courtesy nissans website, the whole install took me about 30 mins, and I'm not really experienced working with cars, the OEM kit just plugs into the wire harness already in the car, very easy to do.for the dealer to charge $700 to $800 is crazy.

Wow and this is OEM not aftermarket ?. I will have a look at their site. I think the dealership told me each foglamp was $250 *shrug*

yes, get the OEM kit, your SL is prewired, with this kit you just plug them in, hardest part for me was reaching down from top of engine compartment to get to them, but I did it in my driveway in about 30 mins. watch Promiselands video, then give it a shot, oh, and with the oem kit you get everything you need, including precut covers, so you can skip parts of the video install. If you lived near me, I could do it for you in 20 mins now that I've done it once.

OMG you make it sound so simple lol. Thanks for the encouragement. :) I am trying to contact Courtesy in Texas. It appears they only ship UPS which sucks for us canadians as UPS gouges us with extra fees upon delivery. I am going to see if they can ship them via USPS. Are there any other Nissan parts stores in the US where I can check for USPS delivery etc?

Thanks a bunch.

I watched the video-GREAT JOB! I maybe able to try it myself. I live in an apartment but I guess I can find some good light and try it. The precut pieces that come with OEM? These are the pieces that were being CUT in the video? Thus I don't have to do any cutting?

Thanks

yes, no cutting with the oem kit,all the parts that come with it are ready to go on, also, I just opened the hood, use a flashlight to look in the space from the top by the headlights, on the drivers side you can see the prewire with the plug on it, reach your arm in, get a feel of it, by the time my kit arrived I already knew how to go about it, I put them in threw that space without ever taking any of the car apart, except removing the fake foglight covers. changing the signal stalk was the easiest part for me, 3 screws, then it just pops off, and snap the new one in.

LOL sounds too good to be true ;) I am not a handy person but I think I will give it a shot. Just hope I can find these oem lights where it can be sent via USPS.
Thanks again for clarification on the installation:)

I ALWAYS ask companies to ship it marked as a gift for me. I have found that it's cheaper to have Americans order the product and ship it to me marked as a 'gift'. That way I don't get dinged with postage and duty charges.

For example, I wanted the cargo net/clips. One of the online Nissan parts stores wanted over $80 for shipping. A fellow Versa member here ordered it for me and shipped it for $4 US :) And no duty ...

I don't know why the Nissan sites charge so much for shipping.

Email BOB though from Versaspeed. I ordered my window visors from him and never got hit with customs or duty charges. :D

Ash, who sent you the kit and how much was it? I don't know retail prices from my side, but wanted to know the final cost of the kit.

I am working on an OEM foglamp kit for us for a better deal than $300 bucks. It will include a new stalk, both lamps, the bolt that holds the lamps to the fascia, and the finishers. For those wanting a kit and can wait a couple weeks, let me see what I can come up with. If not, Courtesy Nissan in Texas has always been good to me when I needed something.

That kit will have the finishers with the foglamp holes. I cut mine (I made the video) so that someone can see how to do it if they wanted to.

I had VersaMG08 send it to me. I'm still waiting for it. He shipped it last week.
Total cost was about around $43 USD with shipping :)
My dealership wanted $110 for just the net, so I'm getting a huge bargain :) I'm not sure where he ordered it from, but he already installed his kit in his Versa.

OH and I emailed Courtesy Nissan WEEKS AGO, when you found out the part #'s for the trunk net, and never rec'd a response. I wasn't too happy with that.

Then I emailed a few other online Nissan sources that were advertised here on NICO, and they are the ones that wanted over $80 US for shipping a net and 4 clips.

on courtesy nissan the fog lamp kit is a bit over priced. dum thing is if u buy all the parts from the kit separtely, it comes up 60-80 $$ cheaper. The amount is about $270 including the shipping cost of each of the 5 parts. i dont hve the money to spend just yet but planning on getting it this summer

I've mentioned it before on here, but Courtesy nissan has the price wrong on the kit, when I ordered it they refunded me $115.60 off the price listed, don't know why they haven't fixed it yet, the price they have listed gives you 4 fog lights + the rest of the kit, he called me when it came in, and adjusted the price before shipping to me.

Bob's the best and been great to deal with. Seems like a good guy. My foglamps arrived. I never realized how light they were, mostly plastic I guess. Now a very large challenge for me-installing these. Wish me luck everyone.

Thanks
