I MEAN TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE SWAPPED AND THE PEOPLE WHO ARE LOOKING INTO THIS SWAP.

FINALLY GOT THE RB20 TO START AND IDLE, WITH THE HELP OF MY FRIEND, BUT WE FOUND THAT THE INTAKE AND EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ARE LEAKING AND THERE IS EXCESSIVE LIFTER NOISE.

My engine is physically in the car, all the heater hoses connected, driveshaft, exhaust all bolted up. My wire harness is in the car and hotpipe has been welded up, just need my intake manifold so I can do all the piping and hook up all the vacuum lines, then we will try and crank it up.

I've got an RB20 in my 90 240 and have been driving it daily for several months now :)

Venus should be giving me a call this week to let me know that my rb25 is in... Then it'll probably take me a couple months to acquire more money to buy all the other necessary install parts.

Here's how my 240 stands so far...

Guess I should add that my RB was daily driven for a while, but after getting a ticket for drag racing my friend in his RX7 a few days ago I probably won't be driving it much for a while ;) Depends if I can get the ticket thrown out, which I believe I can because of the circumstances

I may have to end up doing that, but I don't think it will come to that. We both got a ticket for drag racing but we didn't actually race. We both accelerated from 30-45, rather quickly, but were not speeding and didn't squeel any tires. So as long as I can convince the judge I was not trying to 'outgain' or 'overtake' him I should be ok.

nah im pretty sure you dont need to do all of that... Basically I had a car and no motor... which meant a lot of nothing to do. So I just removed ac and heater, and labeled all electrical connectors. In the future after I get my motor in I plan on redoing all my wiring so that only the necessary wires and connectors are left... Just going for the cleanest install

Hey hey... it's been a while since I've posted. Forum is looking good. For those who remember me... mine runs/ran. I sold it a while ago and bought an FC... which is starting to cost more than my RB swap! So F that... i'm back in the RB game. People want 4k for just the motor and nothing else for a TII swap. I'll be buying another S13 soon (this or next month). I am helping someone swap a 20 in their S14 next week (not sure why he chose the 20/s14 combo... but i'll help). Nice to see a lot more peolpe with the swap... sure the SCC article helped push it some more. For whoever bought their motor from Venus... check your trans for shavings... and the rest of the motor for other problems (turbo shaft play etc). My trans was bad when I got it... they shipped me another for $100 to fix the problem. They are nice... but sometimes shoddy stuff.

Will change profile later (old car)... got to run get the FC ready to sell. Good condition 86 sport 5 lug 4 piston calipers for sale $500.

WELL WE FIXED ALL OUR PROBLEMS, GOT THE ENTIRE CLUSTER WORKING, FOUND OUT SOME WIRING THINGS YOU ALL DON'T KNOW, FOUND THAT A TURBO-LESS RB20DET IS FASTER THAN THE KA24E STOCK FOR STOCK, FIGURED OUT ALOT OF SENSOR THINGS THAT CAN BE REMOVED. ALL IN ALL THE RB20DET IS ONE OF THE EASIEST SWAPS, EVEN EASIER THAN A CA OR SR.

Music: Do you care to share the knowledge you have learned (i.e. sensors that can be removed, the cluster issue) and if it applies to 2.5 as well? Thanks.

WELL I SHOULDN'T AS WE ARE TRYING TO START A COMPANY BUT I WILL:

WELL THE LOWER HARNESS DON'T USE THE RB, USE THE KA AND SWAP THE STARTER CONTROL PLUG (ONLY SWAP NEEDED AS THE ALTERNATOR PLUGS ARE THE SAME. THE RB SPEED SENSOR SHOULD BE SWAPPED WITH THE KA ONE AND THE SPEEDO SHOULD WORK. THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH IS NOT NEEDED.

AS FOR THE GAUGE CLUSTER:THE YELLOW/RED WIRE ON THE ECU NEEDS TO BE TAPPED AND A WIRE RUN TO THE YELLOW/RED WIRE ON THE KA CLUSTER HARNESS, THIS RUNS THE TACH.

THE BLUE/BLACK WIRE ON THE ECU NEEDS TO BE TAPPED AND RAN OVER TO THE BLUE/BLACK WIRE ON THE KA CLUSTER HARNESS. THIS POWERS THE WATER TEMP GAUGE.

THE FUEL GAUGE IS CHASSIS INTERGRATED SO IT ALWAYS WORKS AND THE SPEEDO IS CONNECTED THROUGH THE LOWER KA HARNESS.

WE HAVE A COMPLETE WALK THROUGH GUIDE WITH PICTURES COMING SOON.

Thanks Music. Thats basically what I have done so far except for the tap into the ECU, but did you notice the two plugs for oil temp? on either side of the oil cooler (not on oil cooler for oil press), just curious if you guys wired that in or not, maybe only on 2.5 and not 2.0

THOSE ARE KNOCK SENSORS, THEY ARE GREEN PLUGS WITH YELLOW COVERS RIGHT? THOSE ARE ON THE UPPER ECU HARNESS. WELL ON THE RB20 AND I'M SURE THE RB25 IS THE SAME.

DID YOU USE THE RB LOWER AND transmission HARNESS? BECUASE IT IS NOT NEEDED. THE SPEED AND REVERSE GEAR SENSORS ARE UNIVERSAL AND CAN BE SWAPPED BETWEEN THE TWO TRANNIES.

Yeah I was talking about the green plugs on the side of the engine, I had a feeling they were knock sensors, but the plugs are on the lower harness from the R33, so I was not sure as to how to wire those in.

I used the KA lower harness to hookup transmission and starter/alt.
