i used to have one that went along the lines of:

"sorry i can't take your call right now. press 1 if you'd like to leave a message. press 2 to repeat."

everyone understood it as a joke, except my father. i would constantly get voice mails from him, all pissed off "i keep pressing 1 and nothing is happeneing. wtf is wrong with this s***. [to my mom] do you know how this stupid thing works? i'm trying to call your son and his voice mail never works. i don't get thi...end of message"

I had a couple buddies in college that did that whole "voicemail like they answered" thing. Some of the messages people left were great. They once had some confused old man (who had clearly dialed the wrong number) complaining to his wife about how he was just talking to Johnny (who wasn't my friend), but now it sounds like he hung up.

Good times.
