I'm an HPDE instructor for a couple car clubs and use my Z. I also help out with our annual NICOfest autocross/drift event at Carlisle (coming up in May). Be sure to check it out...ldstang50 wrote:Who on here actually races their cars? I'm not talking like Richie who races 6yr olds on their big wheels, but people who actually race their z or g. I'm trying to watch p0rn but my girlfriend won't leave the room and she's on the rag
Glad you said something to get it in my mind (and on my calendar). I was at d!ck for a semester (I won't say attended as that involves going to class! ) and I've been meaning to go for a couple of years now.Bubba1 wrote:I also help out with our annual NICOfest autocross/drift event at Carlisle (coming up in May). I'll try to make NICOfest no guarantee. This is my first year with the Z.In the next month or so I'll be getting my car prepared for BS. Front sway on order along with possible BIG r compsBubba1 wrote:

BS?
If you're looking at going to your first HPDE, I'd hold off buying R compounds, and stick with your street tires. New/novice students are rarely allowed to use Rcomps anyway. As far as big sway bars, I'd suggest you get comfortable with the stock set up and then decide what direction you want to go.
Cool. I have a friend that races an Evo, and loves it. (pic below) I'm also thinking about R comps for mine too this year. I finally invested in a tow vehicle, which makes switching to rcomps easier.ldstang50 wrote:BubbaI understand what you're saying
BS= b stockI'm not a novice to track events, just a novice with the Z. I bought her late last year and autox-d her twice; this will be my first full year with her. I'm coming from a SM Evo that I raced for 5yrs. The R comps will be for auto-x, then maybe for track events, depending on how secure I feel.

You just learn to ignore him after a while.....snwbrdr435 wrote:

Coming from the Evo to the Z, the hardest thing is getting R comps to the event. The Evo you put them in bags and threw them in the back seat.....the z is completely different. Either find someone to take them for you, or trailer your car. The latter is what I would like to do, but that won't happen till I finalize on my house.

some good ole touge racing huh? i know what you mean. the z is a great car, i'm a little worried about ruffing her up, but i don't mind coming to work with donut marks on the door panel.....those are cool battle scarsredsx13 wrote: to be totally honest, i do race my car on the canyons though, and not talking ***** **** either. it gets pretty intense up there.
if you're in the dc area, check out http://www.capitaldrivingclub.com they hold some good events, and tell them Liam sent you, I used to be an organizer/instructor for them. Kyle, Pete, Ted, Ed....they're all good guysslipstream_pnoy wrote:I'm going to be auto-x this summer, its going to be my first time. I definitely can't not wait.

Give it a whirl with the mods done. I believe RED_DET pulled a 14.0 in his sedan last time at the track and he had a passenger with him. I will be hitting the track again in a couple months so hopefully I can get a better launch.TeflonG35 wrote:Ive only taken my G to the drag strip. Best Ive done was 14.4. Had some mods and new tires since then. Kinda wanna test them out.
$5000!? thats it???? It has to be more than that. I know Limerock, NJMP and Pocono are all $9000plus, just for track rental, then we have to pay cornerworkers, and insurance not to mention other expenses.A typical track day up here is anywhere from $13000-$15000.JETPILOT wrote:To rent Sebring for the day is $5000 so if you get 10 guys each pays $500 for the day plus expenses.
If you want to join an HPDE club it costs $300 for the day plus expenses.
# of cars is dependant on track and club. I know Sebring has a few different configurations.....club, short, and the one ALMS uses.R350Zz33 wrote:$5000 for the whole day? how many cars can be on the track at once? and jet im loving ur new # marker on ur door much cleaner.
