I really wonder were you get your information from... you really can't process this much sh** out of only one a$$&ole.Englishtown has a parking lot they auto-x in, so its not door to door racing. They also have a dragstrip which I'm sure you are aware of.

Trackdays at any track are just that, track days, they are not a race, so you wont' be door to door with people through corners. Most clubs only allow passing on designated parts of the track, usually straight aways and sometimes they have to be with pointbys. You are basically running your car on the track, learning what its like to be on an actual race track and driving fast.Richie I would LOVE for you to go to NJMP or Pocono on a track day just to watch you get absolutely destroyed.

Aww. I sense a lack of love for Richie. He might be a high school kid but he is an expert at high performance driving. After all, he's defeated several of his friends on an Xbox driving game, plus he made some actual turns in his car that made the tires squeel.

the only tire squeel Richie's heard from his car is driving through a parking garage where even Ben Hur's chariot creates tire squeel.

On a side note, I got absolutely hooked up today with a pair of 295/30/18 Hoosier R6s. Delivered to my doorstep, $180

I just went on Aa-ha-ha-ha-ha R-r-r-r-r-r-aceway Park's website. They do have a small 1.35 mile road course there. (About the size of Summit Points Jefferson Circuit). That aside, Richie is too young to be allowed to drive on it.

Omigosh, a Sr. License? I guess Ferrari or McLaren should be calling you any time now, you're obviously an incredible driver.

Minimum age for most track events at major tracks is 18. Gotta be an adult to legally sign the waivers. At some places, it's 21. Otherwise your Mom would have to sign for you. That is, assuming the club, the track, and your Mom will consider an exception.

There are some clubs, like Audi, that offer special schools for newbie kid drivers like you, but we're not talking triple digit speeds. It's more like skid pads, slalom, braking excercises, stuff like that.

I'd be surprised if Englishtown let a 17yr old boy who barely knows how to drive out alone on their track for any event.

I looked around and didn't see an age limit anywhere. I did see some classes that might be the stumbling block to young Skywalker's progress. Are you referring to the fact that in most states the required age is 18 years to enter into a binding legal agreement, ie: signing the driver's release?

A driver's license is fine for driving on public streets, however having a driver's license doesn't automatically entitle anyone to being allowed on a track. They're privately owned and thus allowed to set their own rules and criteria for entry. At minimum they'll have a track orientation session so drivers understand any track dos & don'ts as well as any particular features of the track worth noting. It looks like Raceway Park also has its own licensing system to make sure they don't have a bunch of yahoos tearing around their track. Then there's the inevitable tech session to make sure that cars are ok to run on the track (unless you plan on using one of the track cars, at an added cost). A state issued driver's license doesn't have much to do with driving on a track, just ask Ken Gushi.

Edit: Bubba snuck his post in before mine!

Great minds think alike. You're absolutely right. A minor cannot sign a driver's release. It's not legally binding. Both the club and track would still be vulnerable to lawsuits if this "sr licensed" expert did something really stupid and killed someone.

For the record, NICO's Carlisle track event is 18 minimum. Richie would not be allowed to drive on this track. The only way we'd let him out on track is as a passenger with a staffer, but only if his mom signs the waiver with him. I'm also not sure he could afford a helmet anyway.

I took one of the "skid" schools when i was a learning how to drive. I got to drive a brand new volvo s40. It was amazing how many kids thought they were amazing drivers but managed to fail a test in which you followed a car that had a rope on the back of it. You had to keep in line with the end of the rope and when the car infront of you slammed on its brakes you had to stop before sliding past it. It was scary to see some people slide a full car length past a car they knew was going to stop!

Not necessarily. Depends on the helmet and it's snell rating.

Listen, Richie. In a thread specifically asking for people to come forward that race , you're putting up posts like crazy as if you are some kind of expert. You've been outed as a someone who obviously has never done it (because we know your age). Plus it became clear quickly that you know virtually nothing about the subject.

I recommend you stop with the BS.

At the track I go to you have to be 18 but they made an exception for me. My instructor said I was lucky since they never let anyone under 18 drive

Why you really showed us some driving skills there Ritchie! How bout you try this....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4GzC33QqsE

As I stated in my thread title, Who Actually Races? You aren't one who actually races so please, leave my thread to people who race to discussThanks

Richie if you can explain to me why the car behaved the way it did, you might actually prove yourself somewhat useful

Sorry your thread was shat in.

I'll leave the replies up long enough for our resident auto-drifter and drag racing specialist to read them, then I'll clean it up tomorrow.

Hehe sorry about that...

On the racing topic though...it is a money pit isn't it? I mean there is no way I'm going to track my car and get away with only slightly worn tires is there.

Sorry mods for letting that get out of hand.Anthony, there's no real way to get around the tirewear. I go through ATLEAST one set a year. The guys that are real serious in auto-x will go through 3 or 4 sets at the minimum.

actually i apologize for not keeping it on topic. I strayed too. I'm really siked about this year, i need some track time - the old curvy roads just don't cut it in this car....

Liam i am sure i will be emailing you a lot as we get into spring and summer (and Bubba)

Yes its wear and tear on your car, but leaking fluids is something wrong with your car, not necesarily from racing. Generaly maintenance and retorqing of nuts and bolts, checking of fluids and more frequent changing is really all thats needed. Plus the battle scars in auto-x are usually nothing more than cone rubs and rubber marks, all which buff out

Ryan, I'm not sure if I'll be one to talk to this year. Everything will be experimental for me and I'm running a different set up than most. Hopefully if they fit, 295/30/18 fronts and 315/30/19 rears. Those tires will fit on the Nismo wheels, but I need to find out if they'll clear and not rub.The only thing I'm looking for now is a Stillen true dual and a set of bronze LMGT4 wheels with tires
