Ok I orderd my Synapse Synchronic BOV with their aluminum weld on fitting about 2 weeks ago and i now thought of this

After haveing my SR for about 2 years now I have always wonderd, What are the benifits if any on mounting the BOV on the cold side of the intercooler pipe intead of the hotside? Or is mounting the BOV better on the hot side

im not in a real big hurry to get my SR finished cause i still have work to do after starting with a completly stripped shell and then swapping everything from my old S13 coupe to my new S13 coupe shell and its 2 tone and im loveing it.

IIRC you want the BOV as close to the throttle body as possible, but Im not sure why, the only problem with having it all the way on the cold side, is it makes recirculating more of a hassle.

it seems to me, that if your venting ot the atomesphere it is better to have it o nthe cold side, because that is the direction the air is flowing. if it is mounted on the hot side it means air flowing backwards to vent. which seems liek it might casue problems IMO. but if it is recirculated ten aving it o nthe hot pipe it will just make a loop and you wont have as much air rushing back wards

that air rushing backwards might affact your turbo. CMIW

why would you need to recirculate it? What are the symptoms of needing to recirculate the BOV?

i dont know if i would need to but im going to be running a T3T4 BB 50Trim Garret on 15 -22psi of boost but im not sure if thats why.

if you vent your bov to the atomosphere it can cause a rich fuel spike, usually resulting in a loud pop or backfire from the car. the reason is the MAF is reading a certain amount of air coming into the motor so the ecu matches it wit hthe correct amount of fuel. but when you vent some of that air off after the MAF then the computer doesnt know it. so for a split sec that afr is off. resulting in unburned fuel going out the exhaust then igniting.

this is why people recirculate it. now i belive you can have your ecu tuned for a vented bov, i have yet to check into that but i remember some one mentioning it.

well i guess thats why sometimes in my sr and every one else with a atmospher BOV when that un burnt fuel goes out the exhuast it backfires and sometimes lights up the rear bumper with a super cool blazeing fire ball that just shoots that fuel out

Yeah man lol most the time im answering questionsbut ever since i been building up my sr for the head ive just been thinking alot and asking ?

Thanks man im gonna check your buil out i have been reading it from time to time its really nice i like it.
