Well, I can totally see what you guys are saying about more people having the SR20 swap...about it not being unique...

...and in a sense this is why i'm looking to do it because I was one of the 2 people that had Integras at school and i wanted an integra because i didn't see many around(saw more civics) so i fought with my dad for about 5 months after i got my liscence and i got an integra(didn't get a 5 speed b/c i'm a dumba**). Anyways now this year at school there's 8 integras including mine, and they're all ricers and talking about how cool all these body kits and wings are and stuff, i won't go into depth about how i feel about all that stuff(my car is completly stock if that says anything), so one day i was sitting here at home looking through all my old Sport Compact magazines....and i see the cover of the May(?) issued that says "build a turbo silvia for $3,000", and i said "hey i could probably sell my car for 5,000 and do that and nobody will have anything like me in my area(i wasn't planning on letting word spread around school, but of course some other guy hears about it and wants the same thing now). But that sport compact car mag wasn't the first time i'd heard of the SR20, so i'm not one of those magazine ricers, I had heard about it from my friend last year in Biology class, all we'd do is talk about cars and stuff, and to have a little fun i'd start picking on his Nissan ('84 300z turbo) and he'd pick on my slow automatic honda. Well one day he comes in and says "dude one of my brother-in-law's friends is gonna put a SR20DET in his Sentra"...and that's where is started...

Now for the positive side of more people having SR20's...This means that there will be more information out there on this swap and there will be more knowledge of the engine and it's capabilities, and also if it gets really popular then there could be more aftermarket parts that are easily accessible instead of having to get stuff from Japan.

Just my $.02

Sorry for the long post, but i can see where you guys are coming from though.

Peace,-Jon-

True indeed it is a nice car. Not everyone has good taste though, that is the issue.

I was disappointed that I wanted one when I couldn't afford one. The knowledge was so limited... I was afraid to start. Then I came back to Japan... and bought a 180sx with an SR installed from the factory. Problem solved.

It's a REALLY common car here. You have to do something special for it to be something special. Maybe thats why I have supra lights. Maybe thats one reason why I made it fast enough to kick the crap out of 99% of the others on the street.

So I H8 UR DSM I guess you just overlooked this part of my post

Becuase that doesn't prove your point...

Just trying to make sure you don't confuse me with those magazine ricers....like my friend who heard what i was wanting to do, now he carries around a "turbo" or "Superstreet" with a SR20 swap(can't remember which) at school

Peace,-Jon-

Edit: and incase you're wondering yes i realize that i'm new to this board and that i may have offended you by correcting what you posted but i would like to not have a reputation for being a "magazine ricer"...sorry if i offended you

The S2000 makes 153 lb-ft of torque. The KA makes 160 lb-ft of torque. Not a whole lot of difference. Sure, the S2000 does it at 7500 RPM. But consider this. It redlines at 9000 RPM. Most cars top out 2nd gear just after 60 mph. Lets assume each motor redlines at 60 for simplicity's sake. This would put the S2000's torque peak at 50 Mph. The KA would be at 40 mph. The S2000's overall gearing (assuming a 2 foot diameter tire) would be 10.71:1 and a KA's would be 7.86:1. I did round off slightly, so if you do the math, it may be very slightly off. Using the torque multiplication, the S2000 would be putting out a 1638.63 lb-ft of peak torque to the wheels in 2nd gear, while the KA would be putting out 1257.6 lb-ft of torque in second gear. While the output at the crank is similar, you can see how RPM can make a significant difference in the torque at the wheels. And the torque at the wheels is what makes your car accelerate.

I'm not a big fan of Honda cars, but I am a fan of their technology. It makes slightly less torque than the KA, which KA owners tend to hold as a torquey motor. Only the S2000 can make better use of it's peak torque by using leverage.

I'm not even trying to compare the S2000 and a 240SX with a KA. The only thing that makes the stock KA fun is the torque, I was trying to give it a complement. The S2000 has the best horsepower to liter ratio ever for a stock NA car. 240 hp at the flywheel to a 2.0 Liter. I love the S2000 and the only reason I brought it up was because it is a rwd. The S2000 would blow away the 240 SX and I'm sorry if I sounded like I said the 240 SX was a better car.

No disrespect to the 240 though.
