I'm new to the tuning of the 240sx platform. I read in Super Street about a s15 silvia running a SR22DET engine. I was told that this was a stroker motor compared to the SR20DET motor. Which would be a better motor to use. My hp goals I'd like to run 400= on a regular day to day thing. CTC Motorsports in Dallas, TX is going to be doing all of my performance work. Beating mustangs and shutting up ss camero's would make me have a good day everyday, lol. If any one can help I'd be very thankful. Thanks for your time.

The "SR22DET" is just a modified SR20DET. It is a 2.2 liter stroker kit, and as sold by many companies such as JUN and TODA, it costs between $4500 and $7000. This is not necesary to make 400hp.

CTC Motorsports makes an excellent turbo kit to put you in that range. Just make sure you have all the proper supprting equipment (as they will reccomend)

Don't be cheap on the fuel system and tuning, and you will meet your mark.

I've heard all good about CTC.

I feel bad that you are using a CTC motorkit which is overpriced when compared to the ENjku kit.

heres' a couple of reasons why i stay away from CTC.

Taken directly from their website.

After discussing this at length with our turbo specialist, he sent us our first choice to try out: a T3/TO4S 60/63 hybrid. We immediately installed the turbo and drove the car straight to the dyno. With stock injectors, a 300ZX fuel pump and absolutely no fuel control, the test car put down 340rwhp at just 11psi of boost. The turbocharger is mapped to support 500+rwhp, and astoundingly it spools to full boost by only 3900RPM.

would someone please ring in as to why that doesnt work..

340hp on a stock fuel system? Which motor was that on? Certainly not an SR.

CTC's prices as of late have changed and seem to be way too high now. And Jesse is right, super street does know everything.

I understand about the fuel system, a little that is. Isn't it the more fuel you get the better the hp flow? Remember I'm new to tuning but I wanna do it right thats why I don't have an aluminum spoiler (wing to some) on the back of my S14, OR OUTRAGEOUS decals and stickers all over my car. So would going to ctc motorsports be a bad thing to do? If so could anyone make any sujestions to a shop, because I don't exactly have a lot of tools besides my basic wrench and screw driver, lol.

Is the hotshot manifold good? I need a good manifold that won't break once every couple of months.

I suppose you could afford to crack them, until a month goes by and you've gone through 4 of them. : )

The hot shot manifold that is only available through enjuku.

why are you pissed off that he made a great manifold. Its manufactuered from 321 Stainless , not 304, so it is Much much more resistant to cracking and what not.

i used to have a subscription to Pooper Street (good ****ter material) about 3 years ago, then the influx of "silvia" articles and misinformation started to infultrate the magazine's and the 'secret circle', and kinda ruined it all.....

I was also thinking the other day, (i used to know these numbers), that if we contacted all the importers of SR's and got #'s of imports in the last 2 years and last 4 years, that i bet in the last 2 years they have imported more sr20det's than the previous 10 years put together.....and f&f, and superstreet probrobly led to that trend...whether its good or bad

Yes and No.......but the way your asking it, Yes, to me. It used to only be true enthousiast that were part of the "secret society" as some of us used to look at it, and its been infultrated by ricers and honda boys who will ruin the name of hte 240sx and sr20det over the next year....but im sure ill get over it : )

Yeah...I see your point...that's how the supra community was after the fast and furious (although it wasn't that much of a secret). I don't think that they will have a chance to ruin the name of the SR20DET though....most ricers can't afford the swap since their budget is tied up with neon lights.

As someone who is just now getting theirs done, I have to say that this sucks. I am not at all inspired by that movie, or by that silly magazine. I am not a show car freak.

I just like cars an awfull lot, I stumbled accross some websites and am really not into the whole honda scene. Around here (MN) most of the honda guys I have met are somewhat shady. I do like sporty cars and I don't like to look like every one else.

Bottom line is, though others may have other reasons, I don't think it fair to look at it as if all new sr fans are a bunch of wannabees. Some of us work hard to earn it, so that we can enjoy our cars same as you and aren't planning to stand next to them at car shows just to get into magazines.

I don't think that the general thought of newbs is that they are a bunch of stupid ricers...after all, we were all newbs with questions at one point. But when there are people who have been a member for months and have a total of 1 post asking which engine to get or what the differences between the S13 and S14 engines are, it becomes quite annoying....especially since the info is readily available on the net. I people know how to search but they are just plain lazy. Besides...it's fun harassing the newbs...it kind of weeds out the people who aren't serious about the swap.

True that, I was just a little worried that in the end I will end up in this 'secret society' and find a whole bunch of haters. I am glad I seem to be wrong.

Ok I've been reading this post and though I would chime in. I used to be a Honda boy, (never had stickers on my car, unpainted ground effects, or any other ricer crap. I was planning on doing a Turbo GSR. I was always fond of the 240 because of rwd and a nice suspension. I came across some websites over the summer, and saw how much better and cheaper a SR swap would be. Hondas always disappointed me because of the fwd. Now even honda sees how much better rwds perform with the addition of the S2000. Also hondas have no torque at all. The 240 with a KA is fun to drive because of the torque. but anyway, the "Secret Society" may not be such a secret but there is no way that 240s will get riced out like Civics or Integras because of the sheer number of 240s out there. I had to look for about 6 weeks to find a nice 240 and it was f$%^ing automatic. Manuals are impossible to find in nice shape. Also the SR20DET swap is becoming even more expensive due to the rising popularity. So the poor ricers that are only serious about glowing washer sprayers and neon lights are stuck with their Neons and Civics.

But I do agree that people need to read some posts before throwing a dumb question out.

PS there are no altezza euro lights out for 240s so that proves that they can't be riced out. Once you see those then we're all in trouble.
