Biggie - The Tanabe is a nice setup but, as you said, it's way overpriced... I'm also not fond of the muffler internals (or the angle, or the grapefruit-launcher). ;)

Give me a break, I did buy this one in '04. And it is large, but wanted that, should help as I add more boost, I'm 3" or bigger from turbo back.

My buddy has BRM on his S14 and I have the HKS on mine.
IMO the HKS sounds a lot better than the BRM but the BRM is a good amount quieter on the street and especially on the highway compared the HKS
BUT that's only if you're comparing sound haha

I have a Tanabe g exhaust is great. Nice flow pretty quiet, low bends. full stainless

It cant be more than hks one for the money.
THe cheaper HKS model is not full stainless (mild steel piping) unless ur paying for the pricier one.

I rode in a sr20 w a megan and was surprised it sounded pretty good, almost as good as mine.
Really smooth & quiet and I dont really like megan either.Lol

AZHITMAN: Were you referring to the medalion or g series model on the tanabe? And if
it was the g exhaust did it look like s*** inside too?

Honestly if your going to lower your car, or it is lowered... go cheap ebay exhaust!! It gonna scrape, and dent the top of your tip... trust me it happend to me today! I have an ebay exhaust and it sounds amazing for the price tag! And it def. gave me some noticable power, and does not sound ricey at all! Ill send you the link to it if you want, heres a youtube video of it on my old SOHC 240! I know have same one on my DOHC 240 which you can see in my channel, just didnt post up vids of it yet! But i scraped mine today and it bumped up to the tow hook and dented the damn tip! So now its not a perfect circle! I see tons of people who buy expensive exhausts and they get messed up quickly, and they loose tons of money. Then finally they get a ebay one, and love it! Heres the link...

Here Ya go, and just to clarify this setup was made by the previous owner -
Downpipe to cat( Not the best welds :ohno:)
Image
Cat to resonator
Image
I don't have a pic of the resonator, apparently I didn't take one :gotme lol Resonator to muffler
Image
Forward hanger

Rear hanger

And here is another pic on how the muffler sits

Judging by the welded cat and modded rear hanger I'm guessing that is what's making this system so close to the chassis, and I have only scraped my exhaust once on the street and it was my fault

I am running the 2.5in HKS Hi power cat back with an OBX header and no cat on my S14. Wouldn't trade it for any other system. Sounds great, and has a unique sound. All my buddies know when I pull up to the crib......... But when you are trying to stay low key it isn't too loud, as long as you aren't racing around. But blasting down some country roads at high RPMS? Lets just say all the little animals are running long before I get close......

On my current coilovers, I have dropped it an inch more than what you see in this photo
Image

With the new coilovers I'm looking to drop an other inch or two from that, but that's after some skid plates

No I don't have one.. Yet :naughty:

It's a catback exhaust. I'm almost positive that the car in the video didn't have a header.
