Hey everyone i bought a ebay intake for my s13 240sx, and im not liking the stupid ebay cone filter! It doesnt suck air as much as it should, and i didnt notice much acceleration gains or anything from it! Maybe a little bit of power was noticed, but not as much as it should! Its a RED intake so i would like the filter to be red. Im thinking when i get a name brand good cone filter for it, i will notice more power gains, and it will suck more! haha! ;) Here is the youtube link below to my car and the intake! What size cone filter would i need? I know i can go take mine off and measure it, but im sick, and dont feel like going outside, haha! If someone knew that would be great!

If you over oil the K&N filter so you suck oil off of it when you turn the engine on, that can cause problems.

Been running a K&N cone filter for years, no problems.

Here's the part number for the filter I used: RE-0930
IIRC you can walk into AutoZone and say "I'd like this filter please" and then you go pick it up in a couple days.

go for the custom, and move your battery to the trunk and route the intake pip to the left where the battery should be. :bigthumb:

Ya i know about those $25 autozone specture cone filters! But i want to find a name brand one like injen, fujita, aem, apexi, or something like that. I just want to find a red one, cause my intake is red. And also wanted to know if anyone has good feedback on which brand to get. But here the link to my intake i got on ebay. Check the vids i posted on youtube, they are below my speech haha. But ya fitment is great on it! Its installed already. This link below is the exact same one i bought, and same color, check out how it looks, fits, and sounds on my youtube vids. :dblthumb:

You aren't going to feel much, if any, power gains with an intake pipe/filter swap, especially on an N/A 4banger.

Are you serious?? :wtf2: Yea you will. My friends sohc 240 he put an injen intake on his and it had some very noticeable throttle response, and torque through the gears. Mine i only noticed a bit of power but i think that once i get a better cone intake filter, it will all be good.

Throttle response? Yes. Noticeable power gains with the butt-o-meter? Not so much.

Nissan said it should be taken off, so it's fine.

I'm pretty sure that NISMO sticker adds more hp then your intake.

There are some benefits to intakes.

When the bends are clean and nonrestrictive, that pipe to an area that pull cooler air, without being too long. As for as filters, K&N products are not bad, and at least they are dyno proven....

Power 0-4hp maybe.

Thank you. Finally someone who can tell these people that an intake is a good thing. As long as the intake is smooth and has a constant radious its a good thing! But ya i was looking into the k&N and they are not bad! Although some people say that the oiled filters are bad for maf??? Idk if thats right, but do i have to oil it, if i get it?? Or does it come oiled????

i used an oiled filter before. it won't cause any problems. it SHOULD come pre-oiled (mine wasn't a k&n). when you clean it, you'll have to get a recharge kit which will have a cleaning solution, as well as new oil to put on it. just follow the instructions and you'll be fine.

I bought an Injen SR with the CAI extension last November. I also didn't like the issues one can have with filter oil, so I bought an AEM Dry Filter. However, to be on the safe side I also bought an Injen Hydroshield, which is a slip on cover that goes over the filter during wet conditions (guards against water intake). And, YES, the AEM dry filter IS red.
