Stop. Now. Please.

When was the last time you MAINTAINED your car?

Quit throwing s**tty parts at it and get it back to as-new condition. It's a tiredass SOHC. Change the plugs, replace the plug wires, clean the TB, take all the crap out of the interior, remove the spare tire, change all the fluids, get rid of the crappy, restrictive stock exhaust...

ALL those things will add up to TEN TIMES the hp you'll get from a stupid air filter change.

BT, that cheap filter you bought flows just fine. Your car isn't "starving" for air.

yeah, an intake pretty much just gives an added note at wot.

as AZhitman said, get some new plugs, spark plug wires, a good oil change (lucas additive) run seafoam through the vaccum system, and make sure your timing is still set to stock after all the years of it being abused.

if you feel ballsy, toss a MSD 6 & a MSD blaster SS coil, and you will feel a good torque increase, and possibly fuel economy depending on how you drive.

ButtDyno is a more common term.

I had been running a $25 autozone cone filter for a year or more. But did just pick up a K&N as a small upgrade, sounds like it may be breathing a little easier, but this is on my tubro car.

Lol... couple of things here. My car is a DOHC. I recently changed the plugs, plug wires, distributer cap, rotor button, oil, fuel filter, and valve cover gasket! Then i put a 3" Catback Exhaust, test pipe, and ebay intake! I know my car isnt starving for air, but i dont like the ebay filter. Air cant get through it as fast as a nice aftermarket air filter would! Thats why it doesnt have as loud of a sucking noise as most intakes do! My youtube videos wen i was revving it from throttle body, i was doing it really fast for everyone to hear the sucking! I removed my spare tire also haha! I replaced it with 2 12" Rockford Fosgate subs! :dblthumb:

I know this cause i got friends with small enigne hondas, with a longer intake than mine and they have name brand filters and theirs sucks a ton more than mine, when they rev from throttle body! He told me that ebay intakes dont suck in air as fast as a name brand filter would! IDK why but several other people i talked to say the same thing!!

Spectre or Ebay filters work fine for your application. But your hurting yourself even more with a 40-50lb box of subs. If performance is your goal stick to it. If show or sound is your goal stick to it. You will be ten times happier with your end result whichever road you choose.

K then I would go with a simple K&N. Works good on my dakota and I like the fact I don't have to buy a new filter every couple thousand miles. Worth the money to me.

I can't believe this became a TWO PAGE THREAD!

First off, clean car OP. I watched your vids... you sound like your from South Carolina, are you?

Intakes look nice and few gains, But I dont expect massive HP gains by putting a shiny pipe on my intake. Thats why I can't justify buying an AEM or INJEN intake... So seeing you have no fitment issues and are happy with your ebay one, im kinda sold now.

I will vouch for autozone Spectre air filters, I rock one and it does the job well and doesnt look too bad at all! It will probably give you the best bang for your buck.

One should not argue with AZ hitman... he is sorta god around here.

And he should send me a dual tip exhaust to replace the fart-can HKS that my car came with....

No-name brand filters such as those on "ebay" do not have the extensive R&D like K&N and the like puts into their product to ensure maximum flow, so agreed with that based purely on assumption. But also consider, sound alone does not neccessarily determine flow rate.

Do people find MSD blaster SS coil and msd 6 to be a good purchase/upgrade? Are you kidding about hp gains?

I've looked at a lot of different pages, what is the final verdict on cold air intakes (AEM, Injen, etc) vs stock?

Along the side of the side of..... the hell? Did I just get mind f***ed again?

Yo dawg, we heard you like cones in your filter, so we put a cone in your cone in your filter so the air can move along the side of the side of the cones!

Yep, still not understanding.

MSD BlasterSS and the MSD 6 were a pretty good purchase in my opinion, it definately made a noticible pickup in the low end.. the msd 6 only multifires below about 3000rpms, but it did help scavange an extra MPG or two. also made starting almost instant.
