What do ya'll think is probably the best manufacturer to buy for a big brake kit. StopTech, Wilwood, or Brembo? What have ya'll worked with and had success with? Also do you run any ducting for the brakes?

The z33 track edition came with Brembos. I would go with those as they would probably give you the least amount of resistance to install.

I know they did, but I was wondering if there was a better option for the money and from a performance stand point, which was better... This car would end up seeing heavy track time an I doubt the brembos that came OEM would stand up to the abuse after very long. There are larger kits available and I think that the larger kits have thicker rotors and I wasn't sure if that makes a large difference or not, but I was looking if anyone had done this and what their thoughts were.

as tested the stock OEM brakes are good enough for anything on the roads and even some weekend track events.

as tested the OEM brembo are good enough for anything you can throw at them.

Now as far as adding a ton of HP then i would worry about some serious brake set ups. But as far as just tracking the car, buy some good carbon ceramic pads ($300ish) and some slotted and/or cross drilled rotors ($500+) - all 4 wheels

Take a look at racingbrake.com they have an add in Nissan Sport Mag. They have a lot of options for the Z. bbk's , big rotor kits, and at least five choices for brake pads.

For the money, get the Brembos. Even if you turbo or SC the Z, they will take anything you can do to them.

Bear in mind that Greg (AZhitman) has a G35 with Brembos. He let a few friends drive it at Miller last year. Thay were tracking the car ALL DAY. The power steering reservoir boiled over, but the brakes stood their ground. Mind you, these were all older well schooled track drivers. They were hammering the car (and the brakes) and it was fine.

For the money you can't beat thestoptech 14' ST-40 4 piston front kit with the 2 piece Aerorotors.

They cost about $2000 and will take anything you can throw at them with a good brake fluid.

My Home track is Sebring and I had the OEM Brembo's and they were great with track pads, but the bigger StopTechs are better.

I have 565 whp so I really needed it. In addition my car is full weight.

The Grand Tourismo Brembo's are considerably more expensive. Don't get crossdrilled rotors. They will crack on you. Go with blank rotors or slotted.

I don't use ducting. The OEM Rear Brembo's are just fine for tracking.

I agree. Nice ride.

For brakes, I went with Stoptech BBK's and Ferrodo 2500 pads. Stoptech's kit comes with slotted rotors, stainless braided brakes lines. Installed pretty easily. I've got about 6 track days on them and I love 'em.

Have a peek at the stock 03-04 G35 6MT (Brembo-equipped) 60-0 stopping distances, then compare to some of the so-called "sports cars" of the same year... Impressive.

Before you go throwing parts at a car, keep in mind the engineering that went into the OEM setup.

I'm running slotted discs and Ferodo 2500 pads on mine, and I can't imagine a better setup for the money.

Remember, your brakes are only as good as your tires - If you're not running super-sticky compunds, you're wasting your time and money.

JETPILOT - Amazing car. We must have more info and pics!!!!

Alright took me a few minutes to find this thread cuz it wasn't where I posted originally. But anyways the car is the 03 touring.... so a non-brembo car.... which is why I am looking into getting a bigger kit.

Trust me I have done my research on pricing and cross drilled vs. slotted/blank, even seen a few cracked rotors. The car is located in TX and is full weight, which is why I am asking.

Thanks for the feedback guys, really appreciate it. I think I am going to try and find some OEM brembo rear calipers and then grab some stoptechs for up front like jet pilot. Seems like the best option IMO.

My car happens to be an 03 touring non-Brembo too. One item you need to be aware is your wheel size. The Stoptech BBK's require 18" wheels. I also recommend slotted instead of cross drilled. Cross drilled has more edges and therefore more likely to wear down the pads more quickly.

Enjoy

I would be more worried about the rotor cracking with cross drilled rotors, thanks for the heads up though.
