man, I just checked out this thread and it seems like it ended poorly. Did you horse collar that idiot? I hope you have insurance that wasn't standard.

I drooled over that 84' Anni Edition back in 84' when I "settled" for a 84 NA with leather/digital. I couldn't afford the Anni it was 28k in 1984 and the insurance for a 23 year old was 5 grand for the Turbo.....I am hoping you have a happy ending.

I only have liability on the Z but everything ended well man. Car is fixed 100% and it looks like it never even happened. Cost me about $350 for everything including a new Z33 rim & tire.

I take it insurance covered all of that?
That's some s*** man :(

Did you ever figure out what to do with the trans mounts? I've seen people weld a nut to a washer, and then weld the washer to the frame.

hey man, nice thread.

I'm looking at the exact same car, for $1500 right now - '84 50th AE, guy just rebuilt the motor and says there are no issues besides the cluster/wipers don't work and the rear strut needs tightening.. I guess the price is OK then. Looking forward to seeing where you take this! I've been trying to do research - don't want to anything crazy, probably just slam it and add a few ponies - a DD to keep miles off my FX50.

Depends on what you call an "engine rebuild" and if it was done properly. So look out for that. But $1500 isn't a bad price, I paid more for my engine than I paid for the whole car. The vg30et has stout internals stock so if you maintain around 10psi add a FMIC setup with a blow off valve and (I prefer) an external waste gate with a screamer pipe. Trash the fan clutch & A/C and drop a Walbro 255 in the tank with an ECU tune your pretty much set.

Yeah the Z chassis is a lot different than my S chassis'. The Z is pretty much an all or nothing build from my point of view. If you already gotta get in there with the welder you might as well do it up straight track car style

The semi trailing arm IRS on the Z31 is developed from the 510-810 models of the 70's, you get toe and camber gain when the suspension compresses. Very little adjustment without cutting and welding, at stock height with no power it's fine but when you add power and or lower the car traction becomes an issue. The front suspension is just a macpherson strut, another relic this one dating back to datsuns of the late 60's but still used on many cars today. But stout engines, easy and cheap to make big power, perfect weight distribution in stock form, great cars IMHO but the prices have started to tick up for good ones.

This is hands down the coolest car I've ever owned as far as factory features go, blew my mind how much high tech s*** they crammed in there when I first got it but I don't see them ever really being worth anything.

And yeah I am drawing up an S14 rear subframe swap and converting the front to S13 suspension to eliminate these god awful trailing arms it has. But as you know that requires a few more parts to actually make it happen. And a lot of time

The funny thing about the suspension is it's basically the same as a BMW E30 which everyone loves. while their geometry might be a bit better they brake diffs if you put any power to them, Nissan Diffs are dang near bulletproof, traction si the issue.
