Sweet deal tommey sounds like you've got your hands full. Update this thread with pictures of your insane oiling system in 2014 when you get it all sorted out. No offense. But seriously.

the only thing i havent figured out yet is the crank pulley, should i use an ROSS unit wich i probably can bolt a wheel for the oil pump belt to, or should i modify a stock one.
I think im going to look into the ROSS balancer as that is the most attractive option.
I have the bracket done, but i have to space the pump out according to where the wheel i mounted.

I also havent got the hydraulic couplings yet, and i havent even started on the oil pan.
The CD20 girdle is so massove that i cannot make the oil pan very slim either.
Atleast not with 92mm stroke, might have to make another girdle solution.

Since I own a Ross balancer, I would HIGHLY recommend the race balancer, it will make it VERY easy to have a pulley made to mount to it for the pump.

Did you mount the magnets onto that pulley? And if so, how did it go? Any troubles?

Yes I did, and it was very easy. Easier than the stock one actually because you can mount them to the inner part of the pulley and not have to worry about deflection from the rubber skewing the magnet position.

Good to know and thanks. I juts may venture down that road one of these days, but first I need to liquidate this nissan CA factory in my garage. Talk about excessive hoarding :tisk: .

I emailed them and asked if they have any pump drives wich will fit the CA damper.
How much do these dampers cost?
I also asked if they make a 24 teeth triggerwheel wich will fit the damper, if they do i might buy it form them instead of getting one made.

They don't have anything off the shelf, but the design of the damper makes adding a toothed wheel or a pulley for the oil sump, or both for that matter, very easy. There are 8 bolts IIRC on the front of the pulley that would allow you to easily mount another pulley to it.

Yes i think it will be better to choose the ross balancer even if they dont make anything bolt-on.
I will wait for an reply from them before i buy a balancer

Just to reiderate, you'll want to get the race balancer, as it's the one with the bolts on the front. The standard balancer basically looks like the stock unit. The only issue this brings up is that the race balancer eliminates the pulleys for the A/C and P/S. If you've got P/S and want to keep it, you'd have to use the standard balancer, and it doesn't have any provisions for attaching a pulley to it.

Oh, thats weird.
I have balanced two RB cranks withing the last few months with these ROSS "race'" balancers on them, and i am pretty sure they had both 'PS and Alternator pulley?
I really dont want to go electric PS.

After looking at these pics, I think I just realized why they had to eliminate the P/S on the race blancer. On the RWD CA18DE(T), the P/S is the outer most pulley, and the A/C is in the middle. They wouldn't have been able to save any weight on the race balancer if they tried to keep the P/S. The opposite is true for the RB, with the P/S being in the middle and the A/C being on the outer.

I'm going to be running a Toyota MR2 power steering setup. It doesn't look very complicated, but we'll see when installation time actually comes.

Ok, i will write what ross says here in this thread.
Even if its a little off-topic :)

I might have to use the RB balancer if i choose to use RB timingbelt sprocket and timing belt.

Seems like an RB balancer is the way to go really.
I still haven't got to measure one, so if anybody here has one and wants to help I would appreciate it :)

There was a big group buy on these balancer's when I bought mine, and I think a bunch of the RB guys bought them. I would post up in the RB section.

why? they are cheaper?

btw, if you need the balancer only for installing a trigger wheels, looks like the KA24E pulley fits.

They don't make that for the CA balancer.
