hey I just got a vert about a week ago, when ever i turn no matter if its a intersection or anything my tires (or somthing) makes a screeching sound that sounds the same as if my tires are losing traction. At first i thought it just may be the rigidity of vert arent as good as other 240s. My tires are fine so im suspecting it may be somthing with the suspention? I had stock struts and springs but now I have tein coils on it now and it still makes the same noise. If im making a normal turn from one street to another unless i basicly almost stop in the intersection and go at around 5km an hour or so it does this. Is this normal for verts? Ive ownd 7 240s before this one but none were verts and never has this happened to me. So if this has happened to anyone else or is just a common thing with verts let me know. Edit if you know what a 240 sounds with a welded diff taking turns slowly you know what i mean not the roughness of it losing traction just the soundbtw heres a picture of it tell me what you thinkthanks

hey thanks for the positive comments. Yeah i checked the powersteering. This sound is loud, i have no idea what it could be. Im going to change my tires soon just to rule out the tires. it doesnt feel like im losing traction. I know the transmission is on its way out( maybe it has somthing to do with that) im thinking it may be a bad tension rod as my friend told my it may be. dont know how true that would be though. but yeah I really like the convertable over normal 240s, ive owned s14 zenki, s13 hatch, s13 coupe ect ect. but this (besides auto) is the best out of all of them. 5spd swap should be done soon. I love how rare this car is especially in canada. Theres like 2 in ontario with the silvia conversion and ive never seen more than 10 verts in my life. the only thing i dont like is how nasty my interior is and how i cant find vert parts anywhere

Oh! Nice vert. I like it.Sounds like you have a welded diff. Jack up the rear end and spin one wheel and see how the other turns. They should turn opposite direction.

unless the tires are rubbing on the car in the front, or you have a welded diff, i can't thinkn of anything else at the moment.

nice vert by the way don't forget to add it to the registry.

That's the typical symptom with a welded diff. I remember someone here on Nico said a cop thought he was trying to do a burn out in a parking when he simply tried to park his car.

When you turn, out side wheel turns more than inside, but with a welded diff, they will fight each other, so you hear the noise. If your tires are good, noise will be even louder.

heres the thing. The car is fine when i park. My last 240 had a welded diff and this is not the same haha. when i park its fine. Just when im at speed making turns. even changing lanes at around 60km (36mph) not completely smooth somthing sounds like screeching tires. whats the registry?

Dang... no idea. I think you should just jack up the front, turn steering wheel and see if tires hit anything. Anyway, it's absolutely not a common thing with 240 verts.

Registry --> zerothread/165498

Sounds like the wheel alignment might be off? When a tire wears unevenly and the alignment is off, the tire can lose traction when turning.
