I've already given up on him.... Got the info I needed tho.... Then I bought my TT two weeks ago and it's got adjustable coil overs that are dropped pretty low on stock wheels and I really like the look so I've decided to leave them instead of the 19s :) but it was good education none the less

Well, i've given up too. Everyone should just go grab a set of 20" dubs and slap em on there for the track since weight don't make a difference anymore apparently.

Thanks for your experience that adds no valid argument...I've read, and experienced the difference myself going to a 2 inch larger and 10 pound heavier wheel. The differences I've felt are in concurrence with this article here, and with many, many others I can assure you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unsprung_mass additional unsprung weight will affect braking performance negatively in our cars end of story, TT or NA, even with upgraded brakes. There is no valid argument that says otherwise. You can 'give up on me' if you want, I could care less....Good luck giving up on physics though, It will always win.

As little or as much money as it turns out to be, (redrill might be cheap, but the paintjob won't be, nor will be the fender flaring if done right,) at least it aint mine. They're still BMW wheels meant for the 5 series it came from, and still too big no matter how you spin it.

So Im looking at getting new wheels too, didnt want to start a new thread. The sizes im looking at getting are 18 x 8.75 all around with a +35. Im on stock height, for now, and im not sure if they will fit, or rub, or what size tires I would need to run. Any opinion would be great!

WTF?

Run a 245 and you'll be fine.

Hey bigtdogg, I think the link below would be a great resource to add to the wheel fitment thread. I used it when I was figuring out the offset for my 18s.

Agreed, I've used that site for years. Will add it later.

Because 8.75 is such an oddball width.

I see.. The only thing I was worried about is them fitting, without having to do a bunch of stuff. But they should fit?

I think Varrosten or whatever is the only company to offer that width, IIRC.

Ziggy: I checked it out, thanks!

BigTDogg: Well I was looking at going with the xxr 527's. I think they look good, are around what I can afford, and offer lots of different sizes. 17/18 by 8.75, and 17/18 by 9.75.. Im just worried about them rubbing the stock suspension, I was messing around in the wheel well and noticed there was barely a finger space, both high and wide, at one point of the wheel well.. So that concerns me, I can afford to buy rims that wont fit........ Any thoughts?

8.75 +35ish mm up front 245/40 18

9.75 +35-40 mm out back 275/35 18

That should fit without issue. Check the link that Ziggy provided, and use 9" and 10" respectively if the .75 sizes aren't available.
