I currently have the stock 15x6 wheels on my Q and would like some suggestions from our members what size would be a nice upgrade for looks and performance, tires aside, without having to add spacers or having the wheel/tire combination sticking out beyond the wheel wells.

I was thinking 17" wheels but an open to suggestions and certainly pictures backing up those suggestions.

Thanks!

245/45/18 tires on 18x8 wheel with a 40 offset would fit well, and not stick out of fender

Unfortunately I don't remember who's Q this is, but I think the combination is beautiful! They are FX35 18" wheels.

Rex has a wheel data thread somewhere. Did it ever make it into the Articles Forum?

This is what I want!!!!!!

But possibly in a brighter color. Those wheels in chrome maybe? I'm not a fan of the base alloy color.

Those 18's don't leave an unsightly fender gap nor do they show excessive sidewall. Glorious.

BTW, those look like Pennsylvania plates. I'd love to find out who's car that is and buy them a nice steak dinner.

245/45x18 is 26.6" diameter - a tad bigger than the stock 26", but should work fine. 255/40x18 is 26". Our new '95 came with 2004 Q45/M45 18x8 (40mm offset) wheels and 255/40x18 tires. It is lowered with Eibachs and the front wheel arches are rolled a bit. The tires fill the arches without sticking out. I don't think they would stick out at stock height either, but would come close. I also have 3 other M45 8 spokes in 18x7.5 - 40mm offset with the gunmetal grey finish if anyone is interested. The 245/45x18 would be a perfect fit on those. I can't see how to post actual pics, so here are 2 links - the 18x8's on our '95 and the 18x7.5's on somebody's 2003 M45.

I have a set of these in perfect condition in my basement I was going to wait until warm weather to ebay.

I didn't think they looked better than the 17" 5 spoke OEM that came with my Q.

The burgandy Q that's been sitting for a year across the street from me has those wheels. The 5 thick spoke touring wheels that the FY33's had.

GseaQ, Can you post a pic with that set up. I'd love to see what it looks like. I know Wes has used it, and still believes that going to 26.6 with 245/45 wouldn't hurt anything but I'd like to see it. Also, there are plenty of tires with proper load rating and then some for the Q, and it's what the 540i sport came with .

This is some good info, for my tires have flat spots and I am not sure if I will be able to get them back in round. When in doubt, craigslist is our friend! I just did a search under auto parts for "infinit wheels" and came up with these:

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/pts/55326 ... 91583.html (I really like the looks of these)http://atlanta.craigslist.org/pts/508873259.html

I need to start doing my homework here - and you guys are a tremendous help!! So do we have a list of "interchangable wheels" that will fit the G50 from other Infiniti's? That would be a great sticky for other noobs to be able to check without asking the same old questions over and over again...Jack

Those HP EVO's are great! Those are what I want, but I want them in chrome. I guess I could just get the Hyper Silver ones and have them chromed. $600 for the set? AMAZING! I'd want a 18x8 in the front and an 18x9 in the rear for that staggered look.

I've also seen 17's in the front with 18's in the rear with aspect ratios of 40 and 45 for the offset that looked pretty cool, too...

Real rivets, let alone fake rivets, should be a clue as to weight and strength. No mention of offsets in either linked website either, nor weight nor strength.

Hi Dimitri,

I seem to be the only guy who hasn't figured out how to put pictures in posts. Oh well, the first link in my post is to the pictures of the '95 Q with 18x8 & 255/40x18's. You can't really see the front wheel arch clearance, but it is tight and full.

I've only used stock or smaller diameter (25.6) tires on the '92, so I can't say if the effects of using a 26.6" diameter tire would be noticeable. I do know the shorter tire makes the speedo read about 9km/h more than reality at 90km/h (~55 mph), so that may be about how much slower than reality a 26.6" tire will make the speedo read.

18x8 +35 with 245-45-18 is the BEST setup Ive run on a Q.

It will throw your speedo off a few MPH above 100MPH.. of course we could talk about the accuracy of the stock speedo even with the correct size tires. Bottom line is, 245-45-18s ROCK on a Q I wont run anything else on my Q..

IMO you people have FAR greater things to worry about on your Q than your speedo being off a little bit!

Wes, I'm not the least bit concerned about my choice of tire/wheel size. I am fully aware of the problems I'm having with my newly acquired '95 and the huge cost thus far in time and money. Somebody asked for opinions on tire/wheel choices and I offered what I knew from experience. My reference to speedo errors is confirmed by construction zone radars, which may not be as accurate as a newly calibrated police radar, but surely is more accurate than the stock Q speedometer.

Using a 245/45/18 tire, wouldnt a 40 offset wheel be better than a 35 offset? seems BBS and other wheel companys list a 40 offset for the 90-96Q

I do like these wheels, a muscular look but not too aggressive for the body style.

Elwesso:

I am thinking about these wheels with the Avon Tech M550 235x40x18 ZR tires, Mille Miglia Evo 5 18" Rims +35 offset.

You stated you have/are running the +35 offset, using this offset versus the +40 will I run into any potential suspension/rub issues.

Thanks,

Patrick

A +35 wheel will sit further out than a +40.

The wheels will fit, and the tires (just) meet the 95 minimum load rating, but are a little short and "hard". Ultimately, you'd want a 245/45/18 as a minimum, and something with ~200 wear rating.

Also, make sure the wheels are marked with 690kg or higher.

May be a silly question, but I can't get a visual of various offsets and their appearance on a G50. I'd like for my wheels to be almost exactly even with the wheel well/fender lip, without sticking out. What offset would I be describing here?

What do they look like now.

I like those FX wheels too. If I hadn't just spend so much on my new 15" tires, I'd do that. I saw a set in ATL on craigslist for sale $300 I think.

Offset and width together make up the placement in regards to the fender and the suspension.

Thanks. After looking at all of the pictures, I think that I'd like mine to look like mxr662's setup. He has a +33 in the rear and a +30 in the front. How did he do that? Do the wheels come like that naturally, or are there additions to adjust offset?
