More senseless whoring of my car to the NICO faithful. I usually do conservative sizes, because driveability is much more important than looking show ready.

15x7 +35 --Modern 29's with 195/60-15

16x6.5 +40 --S14 SE alloys with 205/55-16

17x8 +35 --5Zigen FNO1R-C with 215/45-17

18x8 +30 Front and 18x8.5 +33 Rear --Rays Z33 with 225/40-18

The FNs actually look pretty fair enough.

I need to kick my wheels to the curb and get some 17x9+17 18x9.5+12 Bronze Emotions.

Thanks for the pics! I totally dig the S14 SE wheels on your hatch. Do all these fit with your Z brakes and coils?

The Rays wheels look good too, but are kinda big for my taste.

Question: Why didnt you go with a wider tire on those 15x7's?? Maybe 205/55?

I really like the S14 alloys on an S13 with 5 lug conversion...looks proper. I'm thinkin he went with the stock sized tire on the 15x7 for clearance, either that or availability... I'd like to know the actual reason also though.

anyways, nice pics of a nice fastback.

The first pic is from the day I took delivery of the car. Before any modifications or fixing and replacing everything. The trained eye can see it's lower than all other photos and camber is dumped in the 15" photo.

At one point I had 205/55-15 F Toyo#4's225/50-15 R Toyo RA1on those 5spokes.That was a cool kit. Lots of grip.

The 16 SE wheels have RA1's F / R More grip.

The 17" FN's were shod with Toyo #4's F / R. All season tire. I've since sold these to Repo Man, yo.

The 18" had 225/40-18 RA1 F/R in that photo, but right now has 225/40-18 Azenis RT-615!

Hello and welcome to the Wheel/Tire forum!!

The FN's are 17x8 +35 no spacers. Tire size on the FN's was 215/45-17 front and rear.

The Z32 brakes were added after doing the 5lug kit.The only wheels that I've tried to clear 30mm Z32 kit with have been the S14 SE rims, Z32 and Z33 wheels.

You've got 225's on the 8.5 Rays? Any particular reason?

Only reason I ask, is the 225 looks kinda "stretched" on the 8" on my car, and I know Wes has 265's on his rears (on a Q45)???

Just a little puzzled.

Some ppl use a small stretch to decrease the amount of flex in the sidewall, therefore making reactions more predictable... I dunno if that's the case here, but some ppl use a small stretch for that reason.

225/40-18 RA1 overall diameter is 25.10" identical to OEM SE 205/60-15, so close enough for me. The 225 RA1 has a wider section width than, say, a kumho or falken and is within approved rim width range, and generally doesn't look too stretched. Different tire makers use different yardsticks I suppose..not much stretch by any means. ask Chmercer!

Any other size goes up WAY too much in diameter, which kills gearing, and therefore response...and I'm not ever going to run 215/35-18.

ra-1's are teh win

this thread reminds me of how i wish i could have wheels laying around like you have at the shop

i also still say your car is the perfect example of how good the s14 se wheels work on an s13, the stance in that picture is just perfect

SMith- that's good stuff. I really enjoy the Rays 18" stuff, since those are within 10mm of the stock offset..very cool.

I agree! They are a bit too big. The 16's are the best package for the car IMO. They are not as massive and wide as the 18, but they are subdued in appearance and weight is good, and with Rcompound the grip is phenomenal!

Actually yes. DOC uses many fleet cars such as chevrolet impalas and such. Lakewood PD along with Steilacoom PD and Pierce County Sheriff's Dept cars all come in from time to time. We carry Firestone's PV (pursuit vehicle) lineup of tires.

We keep up good relations. It's saved me from a couple speeding tickets back in the day.

And unless you've been in Lakewood and robbed while working, had your car broken into while at work, or had to chase down a criminal running across the street with your coworker's bag in his hand, don't presume to know **** about the city I work in.

Thankfully I legally carry my firearm. I'm not the one you should be at. It's the record number of auto thefts, propery crime and violent crime going on in the south Puget Sound that should have you upset.

Who in the hell are you to criticize Smitty or anyone else for packing a legally-owned/carried firearm? I suppose you're one of those people that think only cops should have guns.

Back on topic, the s14 wheels with the RA-1's are a killer choice. I'm very glad Smitty went this route as that freed up those sweet arse FN's for me to buy. I love the look/fit/weight of the wheels and the Toyo 4's are an excellent all-around choice in tires. I get compliments constantly on how the wheels look/fit and how little they weigh. This is in spite of many people in the 240 community claiming they're played-out. Oh well, I've never been "cool" in my life, so why should I start now, hehe.

BTW, say hello to my little black Austrian friend, which is my current sidearm of choice, the Glock 35.

this is my abridged history with vehicular theft and violence (limited to theftand firearm related):

car(s) broken into: 3 (1 at work)car(s) stolen and stripped: 1friends cars SUCCESSFULLY stolen while at work: 4Times personally robbed at gunpoint: 6 (4 were at work, 1 was with mymom at a bank ATM about 10 years ago where they shot out the sidewindow of our car WITH the gun...and I still have the scar on my arm).

A 15 year old kid was shot in the head and killed in front of the subwaysandwich joint across the street from the place I used to work, while I wasworking. It turned out to be the nephew of a coworker of mine. It was over a girl. My friend Josh's mentally disabled brother was murdered in cold blood outfront of his apartment, beaten with a blunt object then shot twice. I've decided that in the interest of relevance and good taste, I'm going tostop here. I'm not attempting to thread jack, I don't profess to know you, or your town, and I did not to mock you. things aren't much better in my town than they are in yours and since theres been a bit of negative response to my post, I just thought I'd share a little.

I AM an advocate of regulated private sector gun ownership and licensing, the fact that I don't own one is a personal choice and I trust YOU with agun more than most cops. I think that on a subject so serious, you guysare treating it pretty lightly, which I tried to carry in the spirit of and got berated for not saying "sweet, nice gun".

I apologize if my post was misinterpreted as a personal shot, no disrespectwas intended. but if the section of the public who own guns are going to advertise and advocate in such a manner, I think they also need to consider the influence they have on a younger generation who may read this post and decide to carry a gun illegally for whatever reason, even though there is NO question to the legality of your carrying/ownership. "THERE IS NO *****N WAY THAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN" is the response I expect...so let me put it to you like this...

did you REALLY think a MOVIE could make THAT MANY idiots buy riced out hondas? well, it did, and while this post will not reach the incredible cross-section of the populous that a film might...you have to remember that theres probably a lot of under 18ers on nico who really like all of yourwheels, sized 15-18 and will read this thread. I'm not asking you to takeresponsibility for them. I'm just asking that you remember they're out there.

sincere apologies,Micah

Micah,

My apologies to you. I think I came across too abrasively in my post. It's a touchy subject for me because there are so many that want to take away my right to own and privelege to carry a firearm. I can't speak for others here, but I can assure you that I do not take such things lightly. It is very serious and a highly personal choice. I know Smitty feels the same way as I do. If not, I stand corrected.

One thing that I think has been overlooked here is personal responsibility. Those potential law-breakers need to think about what they do before they do it and accept the consequences when they do the wrong thing. Just because one of us does something that we're licensed to do, doesn't mean they can if they don't have the same authorization. Much like the 15 year olds that are on here seeing us driving our cars. They're not licensed to do so, which means it is illegal, but the rest of us are legal.

Back on topic, I know the 18's are large but I like looking at them the same way I like looking at Devon in action.

In fact I do.

Micah, you see, only time and explanation helps show us all the bigger picture. Now that we've taken turns explaining our positions, we understand and agree with each other better. Sorry if I jumped your ****.

Did you know:I was first alerted to the handgun being in the photo, by a friend when I showed him the picture, several months after I had taken it. That event was about a year ago! This thread is incident #2 that I have paid no attention to what is in the photo and what reactions is might have. Notice in this thread, it was made a point of interest, by another member.

I look at that photo and notice the unfinished state the car was in back then. The naked door skin, the old ratty 240sx floormats, the ultra low ride height of the car, and the brand new toyo tires.

WTGay is all this mess about responsible gun ownership???

1)Pack around a M249 and if someone breaks into your car...2) Light a fat stogie and clamp down in side of mouth3) Start shooting (hippies beware... don't wear flip flops, the casings will burn your toes)4) When the police arrive... keep shooting... its the police's fault for not doing the same to criminals.5) If your barrel hasn't melted by now your doing it wrong.

5 steps to completely irresponsible gun ownership... but its effective... when you melt a barrel of a machine gun there aint noone thats gonna break into your car anymore.
