thanks guys, I knew we were all on the same page. back to the topic...

I've heard the 17" FN01RC is a super light wheel for its size...any idea what the actual wheel weight is?

I believe that the 17x8 35mm offset is approximately 17lbs, give or take a few ounces. Light enough for me.

SR_Smith... are you running conversion hubs or S14 hubs in the front? That 8" +30 on the 18's looks really flush...

I put in ATTAIN front hubs, but the bearings in the new attain hubs were bad. So we put in new s13 bearings into the new attain hubs.

interesting... by conversion hubs I was including anyone who made a direct replacement 5 lug hub for the S13

I really need to take measurements on my stock wheels to make since of this all...

I've heard way to many variations of offsets/widths that make the front flush... I hear people saying +20 with a direct replacement conversion hub and a 8.5" will be flush (maybe with camber?) then I see you running a +30 offset wheel on a 8" and it's flush up front... so I figured the track was pushed out some.

I do know I have a ton of room, but just don't know how much exactly I'm dealing with... the car is in NC and I'm in MI.

8" +30 sits relatively flush, but flush never was the goal. The deal for me is, the coilovers could go much much lower, but lower isn't better... only looks cooler at car shows and such.Camber within factory spec the 8" +30 sits nicely and with ride height set fairly low but not dumped, the tire is able to tuck under the fender edge without pulling, rolling, hammering, ruining.I really like the ease of working with the right parts and correct sizes on the car.My job is to know what fits and what hits. This simple approach to fitting wheels allows easy fitments, and frankly this is the approach the oem and aftermarket wheel makers use.Start conservatively and work your way out from there.

Nope. I bought those wheels and tires and they are a perfect fit w/o a centering ring. Here's a pic, but keep in mind Smitty's car is WAY nicer than mine, at least for now.

Well that's great Alisha, but I'm still mad at you. I invited you to be my eFriend on Myspace and you didn't accept. *repo sticks nose up in the air*

Well, I guess I'm not mad enough to not answer your question. Those would bolt right up to your car, so they are 4 lug. I think they're a perfect fit and they are quite light for a 17x8 wheel.

Five lug conversion definitely has it's advantages in wheel selection and brake upgrades but of course is another project and expense.

How is the KA-T coming?

REALLY? I just got on there yesterday and hit "yes" to everyone that invited me to be their "friend" haha try again! lol I'm sorry! If I hit reject, it was by mistake!

Anyways, yes I'm prolly gonna be buying some rims after the kat is finished and I really like those!

As for the Ka-t, I'm getting closer I bought TicTakMan's blown T3 super 60, so I gotta get it sent off for a rebuild. I got a JGS 40mm wastegate, Z32 MAF plug, Z32 Maf (pending), Greddy Intercooler (gotta go pick it up in North Carolina in a few weeks). I bought one of those cooling panels that was a group-buy and an EGR block off plate from the same company. AND FINALLY, I gotta spare ECU for a reflasha and another KADE for the rebuild! WOOT! I'm getting closer!!!

PS-> you can't be mad at me because you love me!!!!!!!! hahahahahahahaha!!!

Hehe, I'll try again. I don't use "repo" on Myspace though. Don't wanna freak anyone out. Sounds like you're making much more headway on your turbo project than I am mine. I have the spare DE and transmission with ECU and I'm going down to see Ben in Kentucky to get his wiring harness and s14 seats from his poor, wrecked s14 this weekend.

What I love about you Alisha is the presence you bring to the board, your enthusiasm for your 240 and NICO and the fact that you haven't left.

What are those BBS looking wheels lying on the floor during your test fit? I think I saw them on a bimmer at some point. Questions are, did they fit, and are they total boatanchors??

THanks! - Evan

Repo, what width are your FN's, and what size tire did you use? I thought that a 17x7 would be good with 225-45 size tires, but I see Smith used that tire on the 17x8. Maybe 215-45 would be a better fit on the 17x7.

Just wondering cause I cannot really see the fit on the 17x8's from the angle in his pic

Smith, Those S14 alloys look really good. Kinda makes me wish my car was black too...and the 5 lug conversion would be nice

The FN's that were on Smitty's car are the same ones on my car. I bought them from him when he converted to 5 lug. 17x8 with 35mm offset and the tires are 215-45-17 on the 17x8 wheel. He made an excellent choice in both size and tire selection. Sidewall is nice and stiff w/o being stretched.

Here is a closeup:

And I know that the car needs paint and the brakes are stock and that the calipers need to be painted, etc. etc. The whole car is going to have paint and body done as soon as it is feasible.

For the FN's you ran the 215-45's did you have any rubbing issues? How low is your car? Mine is lowered 1.5". I am getting 17x8 +35 for the fronts so I think I will run the size you did. But I am getting 17x9 +35 for the rears I have had a lot of conflicting advice from tire shops. You know your stuff. Could you please advise what would work on the 17X9 wheels please? I have a 1990 240sx.

Thanks,

Chad
