Hey everyone! I’m new to the forum and a new owner of a previously entertained ’04 G35. I’d post a pic of my new ride, but I cannot figure out how to attach one… I have to say my wife and I are infatuated with this car, it drives and looks awesome. With this excitement come some of the frustrations of picking up a used car:(

The tires on the car “look” great at a glance. However, whilst inspecting the pads on all four I pulled the tires and realized that the front tires wouldn’t stand upright on their own. I’m thinking this is not normal. It seems as though the front tires have worn off-camber. I’ve poked around on the internet to learn about alignment terms, since I know very little. The car drives perfectly straight down the road, no excess squealing around corners, the steering wheel seems centered and everything seems fine as far as that goes.

I’m planning on taking it in for a four wheel alignment. What do I need to do about the tires? I don’t necessarily want to run out and buy new tires yet. Should I rotate the back tires up front and then get it aligned, or leave the tires as is with the angled tires up front? Should I be concerned about anything else other than an alignment? Can the car be properly aligned with non-perpendicular tires?

Your help is much appreciated.

Welcome to NICO! Glad to have you onboard and congrats on your new ride!

To post pics click below.... FYI...I use photobucket ...it's free.

Now get some pics up into the Members Rides orange sticky thread!

Ok, I am so far from being any sort of an expert on tires...so someone will chime in. But, I believe your rear tires and front tires are different sizes...so rotating them is not an option. Some G's (I've had 2 and never experienced it) have pre-mature wear on the tires due to issues. If you do a quick search on here... I guarantee you that you will find other posting on this.

Hang tight...someone else will chime in shortly.

I would say that if the car isn't pulling and there is decent tread on the tire, don't mess with the alignment. I'm not sure about the sedan's tires, but the coupe has a staggered setup. To rotate on the coupe, you have to pull the tires off the rims, and even then you can only switch sides as the rear tires are wider than the front ones.

Welcome!! I'm on the south side of ATL

Thanks for the Photobucket/picture link info! Here's a pic:

My G is a Sedan so I think the tires are all the same??? I did a quick search on Costco's tire center and it shows the Coupe having 2 sizes not the Sedan. So I think as far as that goes I should be ok...

Welcome to NICO

Lots of opinions here on tires.I just replaced mine so here is my post on the topic.

Since the dealer replaced mine, I did not need an alignment. I intend to rotate these every 5k miles myself. Tire rotation and maintaining correct tire pressure are very important to tire longevity.

Good luck
