You still generalizing. Not even all rap is superficial. 2pac, biggie smalls, old bone, public enemy, souls of mischief, nas, krs 1, dr. octogan, and deltron 3030. Those are all rap, aka, they focus on the beats and rhythm equally or more so than the words. so just because you favorite underground rapper, nelly got discovered by the public you shouldnt slam a whole genre. And congradulations on knowing 3 hip hop artists im very proud of you. im glad that you saw them on mtv (even though blackstar is still quality)

I did and still do listen to HIPHOP3. I am blasting popular rap, not underground niche rap4. I don't care for lifesavas, twizzlers, muff-diver, etc. because, see, that's what you call niche rap , it applies to 30 year old 'hipsters' who live in their mama's basement. 5. It's funny how all those rappers you mentioned are either dead (biggie, tupac), as good as dead (nas is merely a shell of his former self, KRS-one also known as the ugliest rapper of all time- very old school) or just plain suck (deltron).

i listen to very few rap songs andi mean very few. all because all they can talk about is shootin someone or screwin so many girls in one night. the only rapper i listen is E. but he raps about the stuff that actually happens. he gives the people the story of his life itshis way of telling other kids hey i've been there i've done that i'v efelt that pain and look i'm alive. peopel kill there selfs over that kind of crap. oh my boyfriend broke up with me its time to kill my self or i might as well die cuz none likes me. he lets themknow its ok to be diffrent its ok to be yur self if tehy can't like you for who you are then screw them. but hey fi you like rap cool. thats you. thatsa how you are. i just have a dfi opinion thats all.

im almost a complete hip hop fan but I dont agree with people being disrespectful towards an entire music genre. You originally just said general rap, now that you realize you where just plain supid in saying that you double back and say commercial rap. I agree that theres nothing musically satisfying with smacking *****es and ridding dubz. saying that all rap is shallow, however, is rediculous. The original genre of music was called rap then your calling every original peice of rap shallow and meaningless which would make you an idiot. Also what hip hop fan doesnt like del, and apparently doesnt know who souls of mischief is? Let me help you out they are 2 of the members of the hieroglyphics one of the better groups out there. Argueing about rap/hiphop is just tired. Give it up. I hate my views but it doesn't really matter. Its just like anything else. I have mainstream rock, but love hardcore/punk, which is usually more technical, significantly deeper, and better sounding. I like hiphop over rap, but you have to admit when a rapper is good, regardless of what he is rapping about.

BTW, 50 cent stinks.

instant, man, I'm right along with ya with most of those guys. Lemmie add some more:

-Jay-Z (OLD Jay... Reasonable Doubt is still one of my absolute favorite albums. Not at all like new Jay-Z, which is mostly crap. Yea it's about guns and *****es and all that, but it has a point... if you know the story you can feel the music even more... ahh I love it)-The Roots (great for chillin, although I think sometimes he gets a little cheesy sometimes. I still have a lot of respect for their talent though, and I love alot of their tracks)-Talib Kweli (he was mentioned earlier-- He's an amazing lyricist... if you dont have respect for what rappers do you should listen to some of his stuff. The way the words work together and Hi-Tek's beats are amazing.... although I've been seein' Talib around more and more lately in the mainstream-- a sprite commercial and he even had a video for that new song of his... ehhhh I REALLY hope he doesnt go down that road too far.)-Uhmm lots more: Heltah Skeltah, Mountain Brothers, Aesop Rock, Binary Star, Zion I, Artifacts... the list goes on and on. Listen to some real hip hop and you'll see... I cant get enough of it myself.

...and for the argument about commercial rap, well.... I think of commercial rap like I do junk food. It's crappy and horribly put together, but every once in a while it really is kinda fun to just bump to the beats. They're REAL stupid most of the time, we all know that, but like someone else said: it's a guilty pleasure.

It'd be horribly ignorant to judge all of hip hop by comparison to commercial rap, that's like judging punk by Avril, or judging R&B by whoever it is that thinks they're R&B this week. Look at the whole picture before you decide.:ylsuper

Most rap sucks, i just don't get how people can listen to ****. Songs about shoes and cars? what the ****? Dave Matthews is pretty good, but i think a little overrated.
