Whats your best NA dyno and/or 1/4 mile time numbers?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

well yeah they started about the same spot everytime but I mean the power band was damn near a straight line, not any noticable dips in hp all the way up to about 5700 rpm. You'll see I should get the charts scanned this week sometime. By the way, tre thats a nice 1/4 time for such little mods.. you do any stripping of weight?

best to date was 10.240 @ the local 8th mile(against a 350z:(, that 1 ran 9.4xx)

mods are intake/3" catback(stock ~190k mile cat, header)/altima fans, and battery relocation if that helps.

I got my best times on the gtech and at the track my launching at about 2850 and feathering the clutch...just thought i would throw that out there

I was joking about the 3500 clutch dump thing. But still would never launch that low of an rpm range. I think I could dump clutch at that and go with little to no wheelspin. I cant even get a long straight burnout going. Just a chirp and I'm out. Someone told me I have a badly worn lsd. I'm thinking a gunked up open diff.

all 240 launch ponts are different for example my friend in his 1995 launched at 4000...it all depends on the car....i can burn em' all the way to the end of third gear (maybe thats part of the reason why my clutch slips ) but i just have an open diff. vlsd soon to come when i get money...

I can vouch for that. I just finished my 5-speed swap or at least enough to drive, so I took it out. Testing it first not exceeding 20 mph. There were a couple of quirks I needed to fix then I took it out for a more thorough run. There is no rev-limiter nor top speed limiters. I hit about 118mph without a fuel cut off or speed reducers.

yeah me too. before I started ecu tuning I did an auto ecu swap into the 5spd and I personally gained no speed limiter, but did pick up a rev limiter. not bad for insurance. 118 is all? any dyno numbers or 1/4 mile et's?

i believe he is refering to the fifth gear rev limiter, which ends the fun at about 5k.

it would be no fun at all to not have a rev limiter. at least you would notice your power dropped off before 8000.... but you never know about first gear, or any spinning tire situation.

WTF!! I ran a 16.4 at 83 mph. I had a 2.3 60 ft. MY car has 45k miles with a XTD stage 3 clutch, SSAC Dual N1, battery in the trunk, BM SS, and a short ram where the battery was. I dumped the clutch at like 4K and spun just a tad bit. Now i wonder if i shouldnt have shifted at redline. I held out 3rd till almost rev limiter.

be sure to check out my entirely too easy DIY KA adjustable cam gears

i dont have the link, but its easily searched, jsut type DIY KA

im using 248's, but i think there could be something in retarding the exhasut cam -2.5 and advancing the intake cam 2.5 in your 240/232. especially if you shift at redline with this combo. try it an let me know how it works out

i say this because i know you can use a little more overlap with that exhaust, and actually take advantage of it

ss82480 wrote:Ok for any N/A KA folks I got some numbers that should tell you what to expect from basic bolt-ons... Just hit the dyno today, here's what's done so far. On a 92 coupe I got Injen intake, Hotshot headers, Apex n1 catback w/silencer, ngk wires, Unorthodox racing underdrive pulley, SAFC II, with advanced timing(not quite sure how much) a 300zx fuel filter and still keeping a stock cat. Not much for addons really, but the results were pretty decent. Surprisingly we were able to squeeze about 3hp to the wheels with just the SAFC, I know its kinda pointless, but I just wanted one

Running at approx 90 degrees weather with no fans on the motor the max power I got was 146 hp to the wheels and 142 torque. I normally goto dynos and just get disappointed everytime but honestly with all the bad talk on KA's I hear I was expecting 120-125 hp at the wheels so I can't complain. Ill get the charts scanned so I can post for anyone that cares. Also this was on a ka24de with approx 155k miles.

You were expecting 120-125whp on a modded KA? I put down 129whp and 131wtq on a stock 175k KA24DE (missing a muffler) running rich (dipped around 11.5). It's got 199k on it now, damn my job puts a lot of miles on it. I need a rebuild

EDIT: I shift at 6k because I get even richer after 6k and lose massive powa

My car is lighter than S14s too, so yeah, i'm hoping for low 15s. Working on getting a Gizzmo launch interface also for flat shifting.
