I think the super soft suspension and horrendous yawn to the back underpinnings is giving you the impression the van is taking off quick.

my 240sx which was stock except for a 3" cat-back, no lsd, with crappy street 195's ran 15.5 at about 87 mph.

sorry, but are you F$@*($@ kidding me?!

my sienna barely moves until the high rpms. no low end whatsoever.

the chrysler on the other hand is the exact opposite. no top end, crazy low end torque

getting on the freeway mine, if pushed will hit over 100. Top out I dont know because of the stock speedo isnt so accurate that high, middle bottom with about half pedal left and from 5300rpm to my tuned 6750rpm limiter. I would estimate I lift at 130ish. wow I'm a moron

No my Ka has timing issues because the guy that put the head back on for me put the chain on wrong, cams weren't set right...so yeah ...that why it wont start. Its in the shop though...should be out in a week.

2860 with me in the car was the weight and no gas. I then hit the gtech pro and pulled a few run which were sad. lol only 1/8th mile runs 10.915 @83 was the best followed by a few 11.xxx . my average was 11.62. I was not really going for the times but hp numbers. The 105 "free" hp how the gtech rates, is about what I thought. Note this was 90+ with balding fast bfgoodrich scorcher t/a's that IMHO suck a fat xxxx. The estimated 1/4 mile time was 15.572 @106.53 . Do these numbers seem right for a 176,xxx mile na ka? Its not adding up though bc I got owned by a srt-4 and we both were like wtf? I was happy but he was mad. It should not have even been close. 2.4 with turbo vs 2.4 without, turbo owns. He kept trying to get me to blow off at him but I dont have a turbo yet. I'm going to recalibrate the gtech at high/low temps and do a few more pulls later. I was just going for a baseline for my tune developement. So am I the slowest na ka or whaT?

Good luck man - I encourage your enthusiasm but I think you'll hit maybe a 15.1 at best. Not flaming but for everything you've listed I don't think you'll dip into the 14s. Please let me know if you do though! (props if you do)

Neverlift: a mid to higher 15 sec 1/4 for a KA is quite alright man trust me. SRT4 will own you 7 ways to Sunday in absolute stock trim with a load of groceries and a few people in it. Not joking. Give respect where respect is due, you were heavily outmatched there. (considering a fairly stock KA)

Now if that was a typo cuz I dont understand how he was mad that he owned you....and that you beat him or it was a close race - he really needs to get taught how to drive.

no he pwned me for sure but in the 1/8 ish we ran he couldn't do much to me. I will say he looked like a ricer a bit. I have plenty respect b/c I know this kid with over 400whp that his mommy and daddy paid for. Even stock it was a beast, but come on, to not kill me he was indeed mad as ****.

btw my run was on the gtech which I have yet to try at a track to see if it matches. And today and last night I pulled 14.606 @105.67mph, is that possible? 60' 3.3s,330' 7.027,1/8 10.026 @85.26,1000' 12.517,60mph at 6.294 seconds.

i dont think it is possible..the place i did test runs at i ran a 14.94 and i thought the road was level but the human eye often can play tricks on you...yes u ran a 14.60 on that road so you can use that to tune your car and do dry runs...but i dont beleive that those numbers will match those that you will receive at a track..i have ran my g tech at the track before so i know first hand...

I had a feeling doing 120 was stupid... guess im glad i ran out of guts when i did, squirly issues were pretty bad. Lots of correction needed, and no wind that day. Oh yeah, that was on a stock auto with rather well worn all seasons.

what do you guys think an average driver would run with a ka24de motor, lightened flywheel, lsd, act stage1 clutch, 3" catback exhaust. a/c stripped on street tires?

it'll be a goddamned miracle if im in 14s now, but then again i have lots or work, not necessarily money, put in this car.

I know it seems far fetched but damn we are talking .5 seconds. I know its alot in the 1/4 mile. Like I said I still need to measure and test, then compare to the gtech.

Dj I have almost anything you can think of that is inexpensive and helps. I even keep the vehicle tuned up and oil changed regularly. I dont have header or full exhaust. I dont feel they will help out that much, seeing a turbo in the near future. I do believe they would gain another 4~8hp but thats not enough in my opinion to gain .5sec. However I could be totaly wrong and probably am, just MHO. I think a bigger intake manifold would help out more. I may have engine work I dont know I have, I'm 4th owner of the car, took over at 16x,xxx. Obviously by that high a mileage the previous owners could have had it rebuilt, head work done,I know they had the injectors rebuilt by python. Point is I could have more than I know but seriously dought it, last owner was a fireman with 2 other nissans.

yeah, its a big deal.

i halted all my intake work so i could get all the exhaust stuff done this past summer. header and exhaust are good for a proven 15 wheel. at least for the DE. but yeah, .5 is a huge horsepower difference.

and remember, you can flow all youw ant on the intake side, but it doesnt mean **** if you cant get it out. you want all the exhaust you can handle to compliment any intake, especially the manifold.

i'm the 8th owner.

i can guarantee with my entire set up, and my intake manifold, i would run in 14s with high compression. i'll let you know after this winter. i really wouldnt be surprised that i'll be in 14s with just the intake manifold, but thats with a fully stripped coupe and a year and a half of work.

i remember listing everyhting i thought i had and i was still missing several things. when you build in the broke-style like we do, every little bit helps.

yeah I'm poor so I get what I can afford. I am rocking the e motor which I dont feel two headers would help that much, from what I've understood is that the head is the greatest downfall to flow of exhaust. I have more than listed done, including full emissions removal. I dont even have iacv. I use no closed loop or ecu o2 feed, and no scv operation on my custom tune. Running 59psi python rebuilds(dont know the flow so my k value is kinda off).I had the mechanical fan,ac,and ps hooked up and belts tight. I ran a high 15 with ac on, that robs like 15hp right? I'll try a run without them and see if I dip 14's consistantly. I would think freeing up that much would get me there,I've ran witout the mechanical fan and no ps, not at the same time though, but when I tried each I was slightly impressed with response and easy of rpm increase while in and out of gear. I dont have a great launch trying to keep the gtech accurate as possible. Maybe I'll just 3500rpm launch with a clutch dump off the line. Its wet as hell today so I have to wait. btw just ****ing with you about getting into the 14's on the new manifold, its a given. I understand getting the exhaust done first, I seriously need mine done. I even have a gutted 2.5" cat sitting in my garage, just no money to get the pipe yet. Looks bigger without comparing to the one on my car thats gutted now.Its from an 00 jimmy with 4.3 vortec. Talk about slow 1/4mile probably 17's with full leather interior,2 12"s,800watt amp, roof rack. Its got posi though.

yeah, im jealous of your ECU stuff. you need to hook it up with some DE tune info for me. last i talked to deviousKA he was gonna trade my for my 95 ecu for a Stage 3 N/A tune for the DE. so figure out how to hook that up for me, and i can design your manifold jsut that much faster.... just kididn, but i would love whatever you can find me. ive been all over hybridKA and i can only find bits and pieces of info. al the computer chip jargon just blows my dome.

ive worked on those jimmys, **** that 4.3, and **** trying to get the distributer back in right.... i almost gave the car back to the customer running on 4 cyls.....

I'm a lucky man with my exhaust, however. ive gutted my cat as MN has no emmisions, which was free. i picked up a used DC sports header from both Ajax and s14 2510s. it cost me 100 bones. then i got that bad *** deal on my SSAC n1 duals for 183 shipped. so im broke too, but i got the entire exhaust from motor back for 283. which is better than most people get an exhaust for.

wow 283 thats ****ing nice. I'll see what I can hook you up with far as the tune goes. I have not researched the de since I dont have on yet.(looking for another beater shhh!) I know the e is great all you need is a burner, chip(s),and time to test them. I'll go see what I can dig up. What year you ecu do you have. I believe for the de you will need a daughterboard and burner or emulator. Have you looked into consult, IIRC it has realtime tuning via laptop. I'm going to post in a new thread so no one gets pissy.

Ok for any N/A KA folks I got some numbers that should tell you what to expect from basic bolt-ons... Just hit the dyno today, here's what's done so far. On a 92 coupe I got Injen intake, Hotshot headers, Apex n1 catback w/silencer, ngk wires, Unorthodox racing underdrive pulley, SAFC II, with advanced timing(not quite sure how much) a 300zx fuel filter and still keeping a stock cat. Not much for addons really, but the results were pretty decent. Surprisingly we were able to squeeze about 3hp to the wheels with just the SAFC, I know its kinda pointless, but I just wanted one

Running at approx 90 degrees weather with no fans on the motor the max power I got was 146 hp to the wheels and 142 torque. I normally goto dynos and just get disappointed everytime but honestly with all the bad talk on KA's I hear I was expecting 120-125 hp at the wheels so I can't complain. Ill get the charts scanned so I can post for anyone that cares. Also this was on a ka24de with approx 155k miles.

thats decent kinda, from a 20% drivetrain loss you are not even back to stock chp. Maybe I'm off a bit but a dohc comes with about 155chp which take away ac,alternator, waterpump, powersteering, and drivetrain loss, you still only have about 160chp. Someone care to check my calculations? I will say I would be happy with 146whp out of na ka. Have you done any 1/4 mile runs? I would like to see the chart. Brand dyno?

I plan on tryin a 1/4 sometime this fall, the dyno is a dynojet? I think, anyways I got the chart in my hands but no scanner. Another thing is my chart only shows a max of about 143 rwhp because it had a smoother powerband, we didnt print the one with the max hp

I dont think we are going to ***** about 3hp. Even if you lied. j/k When you say smoother do you mean the guy doing the pulls did them differently or you changed a few things and the band was smoother? The shop if doing pulls should try to keep the pulls the same (3rd gear pull from 1500 to redline everytime) you know consistency.
