2007 Maxima SE. Really lousy around town...10-12mpg. Fine on the hwy, on cruise, with 29.7 the best, so far.

I don't really check it around town, but with some mixed driving city and highway it was 23 mpg.

However, I consistently get 28-30 mpg on the highway. I have taken several long trips and calculated the mpg. That is usually going 70-75 mph the entire time.

I have synthetic oil, AMSoil gear oil in the transmission and a bunch of other mods that help with power and mpg. Y-pipe, cat-back, intake and underdrive pulley.

The official EPA rating on my car was 21/26. The new rating puts it at 18/24, so I think I am doing really well.

With mixed city/highway driving, I get a consistent 22 mpg. When I drive mostly highway, I get an avg. of about 25-26. Never saw more than 26 though.

On the freeway, I get well over 400. Last time I went to Seattle, I made it 450 before going to a station and it only went to like 15 gallons.

You might not have any codes, but you might have a bad knock sensor, o2 sensor or some other problem like that. Exhaust leaks can also cause poor performance

Also, replace your air filter (or clean your K&N), check your tire pressure and replace your transmission fluid with synthetic next time.

If you have the money, I would also recommend an aftermarket Y-pipe. It increases performance and mpg. It's probably the best (reasonably priced) bolt on mod you can do for a Maxima.

about 24-25 mixed driving

about 28-30 highway.

I don't do enough city driving to figure that out

my highway speeds are constantly above 70 mph.

I can make a 420 mile trip on a single tank of gas

I just got my car back with the injen cai installed. Let me just tell you the car feels like its sliding on ice. The throttle response is just crazy, the gears shift very soft, it pull like a mofo. I hope this should increase the mpg my car was choking on that old junk.

it's doubtful you'll get any gains with it for 2 reasons. 1) the stock setup was made just right for the situation. They design them pretty well for fuel economy. What you probably needed was just a filter.2) With the comment that the throttle is more free.... you'll probably want to punch it more which will cause you MPG to drop. You weren't bound to get much out of the CAI even if it did improve CAI (extremely negligable IMO). But if it does, reason #2 will take it out. BUT! At least you have a car you enjoy driving that much more. And it's worth it. I'm thinking of getting a y-pipe and a wai sometime soon, the car is far too sluggish off the line for my tastes

since it responses faster it means less foot to the gas. More air in less gas wasted. I don't know maybe I am wrong. I'll know soon.

If I am good on the interstate, 32 MPG. Once I get into boost all bets are off.

yesterday i got 331 miles out of my tank, and still had 1/10 of a tank left...so i'd say maybe 350 miles on one tank if i cruise control around 70-75 consistantly

how many gallons do our tanks hold????

I am getting 20mpg with almost 100% city driving (winter fuel). I get one or two mpg more in the summer. I haven't checked my highway mpg in a long time, but it used to be around 25mpg.

These cars are 4DSC's, so I would guess that the mpg from one driver to another could vary quite a bit, depending on how many stops/starts and how aggressive the person drives. I don't pound on mine as much as I did when I first got it, but I'm no grandpa either. It's hard not to drive these things like racecars!

Around town i get about 22-23.

you need to replace your knock sensor. It usually doesn't throw a code in the scanner unless another sensor is bad (like one or more 02 sensors, or a MAF sensor). Replace it your self, run a fuel system cleaner in your next tank, check your air filter and tire pressure...then reap the beni's of all your hard work in MPG's!!!

My 01 I30 get 24 in city driving and 29 on the HWY. I just traded it for my 95 Q45 which got 22 HWY and 18 City. I hated to get rid of the Q but needed better gas milage as I drive alot. I love the I30 though it handles good and actually has more leg rrom for my 6'-2" frame. Plus it's alot easier to work on than the Q was. I30 has 81K miles, color black. No mods yet but I will keep reading to see what needs to be done to her. I'm thinking about going with 18" rims when the tires wear out. Any thoughts. Better or worse gas milage with 18" rims. Running Goodyear Performance Eagle Touring now. They seem to handle good but I can tell the carbon fiber sidewalls are stiff and the ride is not as smooth on rough concrete roads as the Q was.

Can somebody who actually knows for sure weigh in here. I know that some engines actually get worse mileage with higher octane fuel if they weren't designed for it. I use mid-grade, but maybe that's wrong too.

Our owners manuals state clearly that we should be running at least 91 octane... which means you need to run supereme (since regular = 87, premium=89, super=93)

Personally I use 87... and i get 23mpg mix. about 20 city. and 27mpg all highway. I plan on running a test. I'm running my tank low and plan on using Shell V-Power for the next few tanks to see how much of an increase I see.
