115 just last week. She was just gettin' wound up but my front end is not in any kind of shape for speed yet....so I'll have to wait.
What surprised me was how powerfully the car shifted at about 85. I assume this was from 3rd to 4th?? When it dropped into the higher gear the engine had an amazing amount of pull for a 120K car. I quickly got to 115 and there was plenty more available.
The car felt very very steady at that speed, and the wind noise was not at all excessive. The steering was responsive and the car felt great. I can't wait to get my new front end to see the difference.
In Virginia, anything over 80 is considered reckless and subject to an amazingly idiotic fine (I think it's an automatic $1000, but it might be higher). It stinks, because I usually drive on the interstate at off hours with no traffic. I'd love to be able to cruise at 85-90 when the roads are empty, but i cannot afford that ticket.
It's nuts that we drive on a road system designed for high speed back in the 50's. Yet todays cars with disc brakes, radial tires and new suspensions systems are cruising at 65!
I drove in California last month and the avg speed was over 80 on a state highway! I hear that in South Carolina 85 plus is the norm. No wonder that I always see cars from SC hauling azz on I95 in VA.
