8/6 standard for most ppl. You get used to it. Learn to love it.

If you realllly want it soft, get a quality spring, like Swift - those are lighter and damper way better than most coils in the budget coilovers (which I'm guessing you'll be getting since you are more concerned w/ "street coilovers").

You can go low like 6/5 spring rate, should make for a nice smooth ride.

I wouldn't recommend 8k/6k set up, if you live in places where there are lots of pot holes and broken roads. I use to have megan streets on my s14, living in san francisco(land of broken roads), and it was a painful ride. Anyways 8k/6k setup is just too stiff for city streets so i got some tein flex which are 6k/5k. I would say performance wise, 8k/6k performs better than 6k/5k but the teins are much more comfortable...hope this helps...

I think I can honestly say that my 8/6 hks hypermax is 10x more comfortable than my cousin's 8/6 megan streets... megans are bouncy in the rears.

yeah rates arent everything, the damping on megans and tein flex and stuff isnt that good

i run kts, which arent the best dampers by any means but are certainly good for the price, and thats around NYC and long island...youd be surprised how much you get used to it

You can't perform well when you can't control the accelerator because you are bouncing around the car. For a deticated track car, stiff is good. For a DD, stiff is not so good.

i heard stance dampers are pretty good. im on a real budget.. im just trying to pays some bills and get done with school. i need a DD and 3-8 days a year track car. i was thinking some stance coilovers for track and an extra set of Swift coilover springs to exchange into for that sweet sweet ride.

although.. stiff ride + bumping roads = bouncy car bouncy car + the ladies' "ladies" = stiff...

i'm less of a man than yokota because I've ridden in my buddy's S14 with Stance 8/6's and its like having a solid suspension. It rides slicker than hell on the freeway and at speed, but around town, it feels like my colon is going to fall out. I'm a big ***** and obviously not a man, but after two weeks, I still have yet to find fault in my Endura-Tech's (7/5) even with solid subframe bushings. Food for thought at least. Yokota, I don't know how you can run such high spring rates! You must have pro-level dampers or wear a mouth guard when you drive.

nah, they are half *** dampners, but they work great on trak surfaces...so i can deal with it on the road

i have 18/16 on my stagea... bumpy as **** on normal roads, but on the freeway, soaks up bumps like a goldenchild

Isn't the stagea fully independant (front double wishbone)? The wheel rates are probably half the spring rate :P

I'm going to refrain from regurgitating my normal rants. I'll just say Yokota is correct in saying the dampers (not dampeners!) make all the difference.

stance, kbee, and powered by max are pretty decent entry level coilovers for around 1000

And use an impact wrench so it applies the torque in short bursts so you're not trying to hold the shaft from spinning against a regular wrench.

with the vice grips would i grab the orange part, or at the top? cuz i used vice grips and itghtened them down as much as i could and it still spun... or maybe the nut is just tight enough already?
