I'd like some input on a good drag turbo, i have a turbo 200SX as a daily driver, but I'm about to start building a 240 to use as a track car/weekend toy. I want to go into the 10's, i can't decide if i want to go with a larger GT series turbo, or something like a stage V t3/t04 .82?? anybody running in the 10's on this board? thanks

call MTS they will recommend a setup...

Greddy T78 kit w/ built motor, and a correct cam setup would be good to go.

T67 and a 150 shot would get you there....

HKS T-51 : )

T3/t4 'might' get you there, but it would be max

T04R if u want to call MTS.

What about the Garrett GT35? Secret Service has got 450whp @ 18pounds, depending on what boost it will support?, it might be good for it on a built motor.

i dont really like the T67, T78, i would like to do it with a smaller turbo (even though it will be a track car, i dont want to wait till next week for it to spoolup;) )

so...stage V t3/t4 (laggy, but definately streetable)GT series turbo (not as laggy)MTS to4R (lag city compared to GT, but lots o power)

most 10 second drag cars do have laggy setups...does help get off the line, and drag races are won in the first 60ft...its nice to have a car that will get traction off the line, and nitrous spray always helps with tuneup time....NICO is the only place i see drag racers concerned with lag : )

Your overestimating the amount of lag on a T04r w/ the .53 a/r..its not that laggy, for specifics call MTS : )

i think a gt35r @ 28 pounds will get you there. MR2's are producing 650 odd horsepower with them, sr's should do the same. and spoolup is decent.

GT35R's are efficient @28psi?? i like that idea! they use the 4 bolt flange right? it would also be good for ~500whp around maybe 22-23psi? if so, thats incredible!

Don't waste your hard earned money with expensive japanese turbos like greddy and hks.Go to http://www.precisionte.com and look at the sc61. Can you say gt40 wheel?

It's the truth, notice how I didn't include turbonetics.;)As a matter of fact,Innovative has the best ball bearing cc on the market.

That's exactly my point, you can get a garret gt series for less than it's hks counterpart.Oh, by the way I'm not a big fan of mitsu turbos.I don't have any experience with kkk turbos that's why it's not on my list.

so then the garret turbos would be a safe buy, they are basically the same as the HKS ones then minus the little hks tidbits?

The gt series by garrett are basicly the same as the hks turbos.Keep in mind ball bearing is not a necessity.

but with a bb it will spool faster will it not? also the ball bearing provides more efficiency, unless im mistaken, im no expert by all means only someone trying to learn as much as possible

I'm not too sure about all of this, it seems that its a darw between power and quality? right?

it's pretty much like this.Since turbonetics landed their oem deal alot of people feel quality and customer service has gone down the drain.I always used turbonetics but have been very impressed with precision's products lately.Innovative has the best ball bearing center section design on the market, and the garrett gt series offers some superb stuff, but has no waranty and are not repairable. That's why to me you can't beat a good precision, innovative or garret turbo. With these companies, poor quality has never been an issue.Me personally I have yet to see a japanese turbo (hks..greddy) do anything a good old american turbo couldn't do, and for less.
