Crappy morning turned into a decent afternoon in DC. Early runs were washed out, but since I was in the last grid, myself and the folks in my heat got semi-dry tarmac to play on =)

Ah, thanks =)

Next event is the Northeastern Divisional's (I'll be there getting curb-stomped by national level competition), I dont know if you can still sign up but I would highly recommend it.

Go to http://www.dlbracing.com/ and make an acct. Look at the end of this month and it will be there. You might be able to late register, as the limit has not been hit yet, or you can send a message off to a chairman. I'm not sure if you can compete if you're not an SCCA member, but it cant hurt to try.

If you cant make it out to that one, my race calendar is: http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?sr ... a/New_York and that'll show all the events I have planned for the year.

lol... no, not 5am. I dont play with the times so that's just a default setting for the google calander. I usually get on site around 6:30 am (but I do this because of my car's setup time and I like to talk to my buddies at the track), but you could get away with showing up at 7:30 am.

I was supposed to go to a wedding in CT that weekend but got uninvited, so it looks like I might make it out there.

Word, sounds good. There are a couple other ones at Fed Ex before then too if you get the hankering and dont want to wait a month.

I definitely do want to, I just don't have my schedule out yet. I only know I am off June 27 because I took it off for that stupid wedding.

How do you get uninvited btw? Talk about a d!ck move... How do you even break that to someone?

It is a wedding for Michele's straight male hair dresser cousin. I was her date, obviously. Apparently the wedding got too big and they cut out guests and are making it almost solely family. I got cut. I'm not too upset, but it would've been nice to know before I requested off.

BTW, what car will you be driving? Also, give a list of what's been done to it so I can figure out a class for you and hopefully have magnets for you to use instead of hideous tape.

Looks like you'll be in STX. If you have stock brakes, you'd have been in ST (much easier class in terms of cars you'll face). STX is dominated by WRX's, but you'll have a chance to meet some pretty good drivers.

Does the car still have full interior?

Thats good that it at least has interior. W/out interior, you'd have been in a prepared class (like myself) or in Street Modified (which is what the Volvo's you saw are in).

STX (and all ST classes for that matter) uses street tires only, no r-compounds, so you dont have to worry about being terribly off the pace due to that.

300ZX front brakes, so you have front 5 lug and rear 4 lug?

No, it's s14 5 lug hubs rear.

This sucks. I'm going to be running against "dominating" wrx in my second auto x. haha. Time to buy a helmet.

You dont have to buy one. There are loaners at the track if you want to save some cash.

Dont worry about competing, just focus more on honing your driving skills. Everyone sucks at first. If I had it on hand, I'd show you the time sheet from my first ever autocross and it's laughable how off the pace I was. I was extravagantly slow, but I also didn't know anyone at the track or try to meet anyone and ask for advice (this is something you'll have working in your favor).

One of the best courses I've run in a long time. Flowed very well and aside from a poorly placed chicago box with a tiny braking zone of freshly sealed pavement, the course just came together at all the right times.

Congrats! Those are some impressive times. I have a question. (Pardon my ignorance but I have no idea and I want to know...) Before the timed laps begin, do they let you drive a "parade lap" so you can get a feel for the way the track is laid out, let you walk it, or do you just have to wing it?

Ugh... i think i like your region. The lots seem nicer.

As of right now, we only have 2 venues. One in Denver and one in Colorado Springs. The one in Colorado Springs (at Pike's Peak International Raceway) is awesome. But apparently it must cost too much or is hard to book, because of our 12 events we're having this season.. only 3 weekends are being spent there. My autocross thread has yet to have any pics or video from that venue yet as well. I'm DYING to drive there again, as I have not been able to really push the truck the way it was meant to be pushed at the small venue we have in Denver. I've yet to use the truck with its current setup at PPIR, and have NEVER driven there on R-Comps... the wait is killing me. Basically, the course in Denver is small, has a crap surface, and is impossible to make a course have any sort of flow, yet somehow, all of our events are there... and the weather tends to blow a lot. The PPIR one is awesome, and the RM Divisional will be held there the 24th and 25th... keep an eye out for my update from there. I plan on taking some video at the test and tune on Friday and then Saturday I'll be racing.

Pretty much what Pezi says, you get to walk it. I usually wake each event day at around 5am so I can get to the course very early, setup and then watch them run the test lap and also get in as many course walks as possible. I also watch everyone run as much as possible so I can devise the best method to attack certain sections of the course or look for possible problem areas.

FedEx Field is a rather nice lot when you're not on the dark black sections (thats where it's freshly sealed). Plenty of room to gallop and add for creativity while choosing your line.

Fun videos. Well, you inspired me to find som old VHS lap videos I took a few years ago goofing around at various tracks. My son just transferred one of them for me to youtube. Here's one from Summit Point Main, years before they resurfaced it. the MiniCooperS belonged to a good friend of mine. Sorry about the shaking. the camera was mounted on a bracket attached to the headrest.

If you're not autocrossing, you're missing running with no brakes. I had a semi-brake failure midway through my first run yesterday and figured, "f-it, may as well finish it." Anyway, 20 seconds later, I had my one and only run in the bag and won my class in the BMWCCA event with it =P

http://forum.nccbmwcca.org/downloads.ph ... 6&act=down for the timesheet. A bonus of 93coupe showing up and hanging out (hope he had fun, I was busy the majority of the time =/).
