Instead of having that little red "search" button located all the way at the top right hand corner, why not move it somewhere closer towards the middle?

Paul, I see the underlying message here... and I do agree with you.

As we all know, there's been a great deal of press about 240/SR, and it's bringing us many new members with basic questions. It's my opinion that members can either post an answer to his question or move on and not post at all. There is no need for members to flame newcomers.

A guy I know(Primer, new member) who is looking for a 240 project car asked a simple question here in the SR forum and was met with several sarcastic comments...until Fred stepped in and asked the members to either post an answer to the question or move on.

We should always welcome the new guys and inform them about the search function....and maybe even give some quick, helpful advice.

-Phil

As a relative "N00b" to this board (though not to others) I certainly understand the frustration with people who have 1 post hopping in and asking "Hey y0, can I put a SR in my 'Teg?". I'm sure these same types of people also ask "Hey, can I put a turbo eclipse motor in my Civic? That'd be mad phat, y0."

But I think far too many genuinely curious '240'ers' get piled in with these "trend hoppers."

I'm not going to lie. I saw the SCC article on the "Silvia" and I immediately started hunting for a 240. I bought a 1991 coupe and I have every intention of putting an SR20DET engine in it. (And yes, a Silvia front end conversion, too.)

But not because it's trendy, or because I want to be different like everyone else. Because it's a nice engine with loads of potential. I wanted a project, and this one seem to jump out at me.

But just because I'm new to Nissans doesn't mean I'm one of the mongoloid teeming masses. And I think everyone should be given an opportunity to prove themselves before being judged. Just my $.02, for what it's worth.

Nico, however, rocks. I love this place. :ylsuper

I posted this elsewhere, but I think it bears repeating:

When people quit asking questions, NICO ceases to exist. So if you guys (members and mods) have no desire to answer a question for the umpteenth time, then you're in the wrong place. Nothing wrong with directing someone to the search button, but I will NOT abide that being someone's FIRST impression of NICO. Welcome them, answer their question, and perhaps run a search for them (linking to the results). Then encourage them to use the search function - and welcome them again.

I suppose my vote would be for 15,000 members who each are in varying stages of "knowing what's up" - All contribute something, and some contribute a lot.

Bottom line? I am SOOO glad Paul is back and behind NICO 100%. He's a valuable asset here and will only make this place stronger. Good to have you back around, MV!!!

Perhaps when a new member registered they could be linked to a page that has links to all the FAQ's, welcomes them, introduces them to the Search button by saying something about common questions have almost certainly been allready answered and a simple search can turn up these answers instead of using up NICO bandwidth by asking again. Then they could be welcomed again. Might this be feasible?

Actually, someone (sorry i forgot who) had a wonderful idea for newbies under a certain amount of post, having a Red Search Box bounce actively around the screen, so wherever they try to click the mouse, they will hit the search button.

Q got fixed just fine, and there's a brutal, heartless arse-whupping in store for the pu$$y that did it.

Jesse, IIRC, you asked for strippers - I was just trying to keep the NICO membership happy. :D

Well the question was what would I like to see on NICO. Im saying what I would like. I know there are other sections but I would like to see more inputs being fed into there but of course Im not sure if that was possible.

You can either answer the question or move on. Does it realy matter how many times a question is asked, because there had to of been a time when you had that similar question. Now some people are better at finding stuff out on their own and others are not. This forum is supposed to help others, not burn them.:)

That is not a valid poll as the questions are written so as to suggestive of one answer over another.

The opposite spin would be:

"Do you want a group of elitists that are closed to the average Joe who just likes his car and wants to learn about it?"Or "Do you want a site that welcomes all drivers and tries to be helpful to all'

Fred....

Ninjas and boobies are 2 of the reasons people don't respect us. As for the age thing that is a GREAT idea but I don't think it would work in application. On top of that there are a lof of smart kids out there who need to be on the site. Besides remember getting internet p0rn before you were 18? It's not that hard to get around it......

Whats wrong with Ninjas??????

As long as they are not in the tech sections.......

Boobies thread was one of the largest ever.......not saying this should be a p0rn site......

But boobies are better that people yellin at each other and carring on like HS kids...........
