I'd just like to see us projected in a more mature light, I mean why dose a car site need to have a thread going around about cyber sex?

tell me about it, I'm coming over from the die hard VW world, and I'm scared as hell to post anything on these forums because everytime someone "new" posts, someone who thinks they are entitled to respect because of their post count chimes in and tells you how stupid your post was.

I'm a 4th year member of Vwvortex, back when there was 10k members, now theres over 100k. And I know how redundant the same question can get, especially when you got 25,000 topics alone in the 1.8t forum.

It's really simple, if you see a redundant "newb" question, either move along, or help out and answer the question. So either the dude gets his answer, or the thread eventually makes its way off the first few pages never to be seen again.

Seems to be a lot of " USE THE SEARCH" cliche' goin around.

How come we don't have a groupbuy section. the "other" forums have groupbuy sections and i constantly have to go over there to check on groupbuys. It's about time we group individuals and vcompanies to come over here and throw us some deals not to mention boost traffic maybe even increase our membership. Work with me people, it's like i'm having a moment of inspiration.

There is nothing wrong with Ninja's or Boobies. If we cant pick on N00B's then we should be able to goof off!.

You know what I want to see?

I want to see less hating on 240's by the Infiniti Moderator/Admin crowd, as well as jabs about a certain form/style of racing that is quickly gaining popularity, especially on a board where the obvious majority of users are 240 owners.

That's all I ask. I might take things a little more seriously if I didn't have to read some understated, yet blatantly obvious flame against 240's at least once a week.

Who generates the most traffic through NICO in general? Who do most of your advertisers aim their products at? It seems to me that NICO wouldn't be as big as it is without the help of us 240SX guys, yet people in our same clique, albeit the "luxury" version of our cars feel the need to get in some stupid, smartass jab anytime they can.

That is what I want to see changed.

/rant.

NOTE: Please don't defend yourselves if you didn't do anything that I mentioned above, the offenders know who they are, as I'm sure everyone else does too.

Then they could be welcomed again. Might this be feasible?

You mean the mods actually work? Hmm. They sure love to close threads, bash, rant, and attempt the hopeless cause of protecting all the noobs...

I completely agree with Buud on this issue. I'm tired of seeing mods who don't even own a 240 dictate how that specific board is run. Same with the SR section.

PS: for all the ninja/boob post whoring in this thread (pretty pathetic, but the mods seems to love it :rolleyes) I hope you all realize that Ninja + Boobs = Noobs...

Here's my .02. I think that AZ is 100% right, and I also think that once we become an elitest group of car owners that don't want to help out the new generation of car owners, we defeat the whole purpose of this board. If you want to be elitest, go found a car club, and you can be the only member. Can't get any more elitest than that can it?

Bascially what I'm saying is that I don't want to see this board go the way of Maxima.org. When I first joined maxima.org, it was a pretty good forum, and over the year and a half that I activly posted there, it turned into less of an informational board and more of a group of people who where in a certain clique because they knew about maximas. Now thats all well and good, but its definitly true that maybe if you don't want to awnser the question then just don't post. In the org, you would see someone post about something like "what is the bore and stroke of my VE?" Then you'd get 2 pages of ***holes saying "What you don't know?" and the infamous "USE THE SEARCH BUTTON".

Most members are aware of the search button, and will usually make use of it. Maybe one response saying "hey you know I think there was a thread discussing this, try searching and seeing what you find" is appropriate.

Don't make finding information out about our cars tough guys. Keep this something that is both fun and informational. Keep in mind that we all post here cause we love the same thing, and that is the 240SX and the SR20DET.

......now show me some boobies :D

Buud, I'm gonna empty my penny jar and buy you a bigass box of Kleenex. If you're still butt-hurt about me expressing my opinion of "drifting", get the hell over it already.

Your exaggerations are preposterous. At least once a week? Apparently you underestimate the intelligence of the crowd you're trying to defend. I'll be awaiting your presentation of the evidence - It shouldn't be hard to procure. :rolleyes

Who spends countless hours volunteering their time to keep NICO up and running? Who goes out and GETS the advertisers? Who takes late-night phone calls to "fix" something or delete an offensive post? I think if you ask around, I've got a pretty good rep with the 240 crowd, as I've gone out of my way to help them out any chance I get.

See, Buud, you don't SEE the 20 emails a DAY I get from 240sx owners looking for help, ALL of which get answered (and answered well). All you see is the one (maybe two) disparaging comments (that apparently hit WAY too close to home).

Like I said above, I think I've earned a measure of respect among the 240 owners crowd. Especially considering I've tried awfully hard to learn as much as I can ABOUT the 240. What do you know about my ride? Not much, I'd presume. But that's OK.

You just keep pouting about how abusive I've been to the poor, defenseless 240 owners and I'll keep investing my time to keep this site kicking a$$. I used to think it's a thankless job, but you know, it's really not. Lots of your peers thank me (and the other Mods/Admins) all the time.

Just to show that I'm being fair, I'll forward your concerns to Paul, Dauntt, Chet, Andy, Phil, and Anand - ALL 240 owners and Mods/Admins.

SwiftDrift, if you had any credibility at all, I'd take some time responding to your thread. Apparently you've forgotten that we HAVE mods who own 240's.

If you're so discontent here, I'll be glad to accept your resignation as a member of the boards. But I WILL NOT stand by and read your horsesh!t about "mods who don't work." Buud's post was inaccurate, but at least he had a legit gripe.

This is the thanks we get for busting our hump around here? Un-freaking-believable.

I've got nothing further to say to you. Consider yourself fortunate that I'm not trigger-happy. :firedevil

Laying low for a few days is *highly* adviseable.

I happen to like the hitman he's a good guy who has been around a heck of a lot longer than most of you guys, repo's great (had a few beer's with him back home in Indiana) and Torry is a little misguided with his sentra lovin but that's allright. Most of the Non 240 mods/admin are pretty cool. I appreciate that tey either learn about us before they speak or just kinda step back and let whatever happens happen.

The only guy who's ticked me off isn't going to get mentioned, but he somtimes anoys the crap out of me trying to tell me how 240 guys think or how we should act. We're a little different group of people. I understand we all have a few screws loose and are spending all this time and money on a car that's basically dead (the newest one you can buy is still 5 years old!). I've always thought the 240 guys needed to have their own set of rules JUST in the 240 areas. I think we could hold ourselvs to a higher standard and still not anoy too many people on the outside as long as we approach it correctly. Anybody who spends some time on 240.org and goes through the FAQ's, reads the sticky's and pays attention will fit in great with us. But we're just not too accepting of guys who want us to spoon feed them all the information they need to crawl through a swap. Most of us came from the old school where you were on the mailing list and learned the hard way or learned from listening to others talk about their problems. When you finally asked a question on your own you already had a good idea of what was really going on. I think that's why FA has their '240 basic' and '240 advanced' forums, so that the die hards can do their thing while the new guys stay out of their way and just look in over our shoulders to see what we're doing and hopefully learn from us. I'd really like to see some of the 'non 240'ers' come down to central FL for one of our 240 conventions. I think you'll be blown away by the dedication, workmanship, and maturity of our 'die hards' of which there are many in FL alone.

NICO is a great site, with lots of great people, but I think somtimes there are just too many cooks in the kitchen who don't quite know what they are doin.... Hopfully we can start to change that all as time goes on. We've got the quantity, now I'd like to make the quality come up to the level we're used to.

As a side note, do you know there are like only 2 or 3 NA 240's left in Orlando that come out to our meet on saturdays? Most of us are on our second or even third 240, and we've almost all been into these cars for 5+ years. Virtually everybody in our club has done a swap, KAT, or both. At one point in time we've all helped eachother with an engine swap, headgasket replacement (jay) or a wiring job. I don't think you'll find that kind of dedication in any other forum in this club.

Let's quit bashing and just spend some time pointing out how WE are and what WE want to see. Negitive comments get us nowhere (trust me :) )

BTW I hope some of the new sticky's I've added help cut down on the dumb traffic.

and one other side note, I still think it's hard to take us serious when we have threads about ninja's, boobies, cyber sex, and video games.

"can't we all just get along?"

I own a 240. so NYA!

personally, I just get sick of answering the same freaking questions 30 times, esspecially when theres another thread discussing said question like 4 slots down....

but, I also think that everyone deserves a certain ammount of respect just for logging on and trying to learn about their respective car....

Imma just keep doing what I've been doing....making nice FAQ and information stickies for everyone and trying not to yell at people who post really ambiguous questions...

Hitman we have mods in the SR section who don't even own a Nissan, never have, and much less never worked on an SR. What good can they really do beside "police" the noob questions? Nothing...Obviously the FAQ's and stickies are not doing their full job because these forums consist of tons of reposted questions all day. Who's fault is that? The member for not reading/searching or the admins/mods for not programming it so they HAVE to read/search in the first place. All I see on this forum now is crappy representation, jumbled unorganized forums, and fights/gripes breaking out between mods and members.

Great I'm glad you've busted your balls. I don't see it. Call me blind but I come here at least once a day. Now it may be just the hugest inconceivable coincidence that I miss all the "changes" but I doubt it. Look I know you guys do actually work. I didn't mean it so harsh in my previous post. I'm saying this site has been going through changes that I know many people don't like and a lot of the major thread problems have not been solved. In my opinion it's time for something new. I meant "the mods actually work" in a way that the mods would try something new that has never been done before with the search function, registration process, required reading before being allowed to post threads, etc. I know NICO doesn't want to follow identically in the footsteps of other forums such as FreshAlloy, but this place has become a laughing stock in the eyes of more respectable forums.

I've never had a beef with you Hitman, but it's apparent you've had one welling up with me for some time...Good community when the only communication skills involve being banned. Thanks for the threat but you would find out I'm not a total flamer by actually talking to me like an adult and solving things the old fashioned way.

Your SR section mods are Movingviolation240 , Nismo_Freak and SmithSR. You let me know WHICH one of those "has never owned a Nissan" (your quote) and I'll personally remove him from the forum as a Mod.

Fair enough? I think you'll agree that it is.

Perhaps the "tons of repeated questions" day after day are because new 240 owners are typically young and inexperienced (it's a great first car). If you don't want to answer their questions, then don't. Someone will. AND, we have a tech forum for those of you who want to get in-depth.

As far as "not seeing the efforts", you won't. How coul you? A stupid post gets deleted, a thread gets moved, an email discussion goes on off-board, etc. You're not privy to that, just like you don't see the pilot flying the 747. Think about it.

"In the eyes of more respectable forums"? Which forums would they be? Do me a favor, and name them - I'll pay them a visit and see what makes them tick. I'm dead serious, not making fun... But I can't think of a single other forum with the level of technical expertise we have amassed here. Roam around (including outside of the 240 forums) and I think you'll agree.

I hardly think NICO is a "laughingstock"... Matter of fact, I have discussions with some of the "other" forums, some of which will be joining us - it's just a matter of time.

If you want the "mods to try something new" (your quote) and you have suggestions, you need to make them known. They'll be heard, and in most cases, implemented. That's what we're all about.

I've not had beef "welling up" with you. Quite the contrary. But your post was out of line, enough so that YOU felt it necessary to back off from your previous position. I choose to stick to my original position from beginning to end. It's called integrity.

Inciting discontent where there is none (or little) against the board's mods and admins won't be tolerated. That's when I'll have no qualms about pulling the trigger. Not a threat, just a fact.

You've asked to be dealt with as an adult, and I have - I expect you to respond likewise, your initial post (above) notwithstanding. Adults don't feel it necessary to indicate when they are done supposedly "owning".:rolleyes

Thanks for keeping this mature. Like I already said. What is the goal of NICO? To at least pay for the server/bandwidth fees, and hopefully to put a couple extra bucks in your pocket. I have no problem with that. I never have, and never will. However, I think that you, as an admin, bashing one of the biggest, and quickest growing trends in the import scene is the wrong way of trying to pad your wallet. The reason being, as I already said is that a staggering majority of your readership and revenue stream comes from the 240SX community. A community, that for the most part, embraces drifting.

I don't care that you don't like it, most of us realize there are quicker ways around a curve. Thank you, we know it. Just because it's the fastest way doesn't mean it's the only way. I prefer grip, but I embrace drift. OK? Christ I'm going to be glad when we can stop arguing about that.

Ahh, my memory may decieve me, but I seem to recall a couple comments from you, then went back to find them, say a couple days or a week later, they were strangely missing. I don't understand. If you regretted saying something, or someone was covering you (no harm there), why did you leave other offensive posts?

This is our fault how? I'm sure that, as an admin, when and if NICO turns a profit, you have something to gain. Again, I have never once complained about the ads, I embrace them. They say nothing is free. Well, I would hope that if you were awarded some financial restitution for your time, I would hope that there was some degree of work to merit that money.

You dug your grave, please don't complain about a job that wasn't forced upon you. Hell, I would have taken it had it been offered to me.

As for your rep. I don't know who holds you in high standards, nor do I want to, but I don't doubt that those people exist. I would hope that someone that asks something of you, and has their wishes granted would extend some degree of gratitude to you.

You are correct. I know very little about your Q. I never attempted to portray myself as somebody that does. Thus, the reason why I stick to NICO General, NICO Meets, 240SX General and RWD SR. You will find maybe 2 or 3 posts by me in any other forum. Honestly, you can only share so much info that has been book-learned. The rest of that info needs to come from the experienced people. Me, Adam, Jesse, SWIFT, pampadori, SpeedRacer, etc, etc... That is our niche on this forum.

We aren't defenseless. I stood up for the rest of them. I already said what I was tired of and what I was sick of. I have as much info as you invested in this site. Thankless job, yes and no. I like 240's, I help where I can, and I try to fight off all the misinformation that runs so rampant on the internet. I get thanked by people who I can help. I have tried to use NICO to facilitate this, but then situations such as this arise and I wonder why I wasted my time. But I'm glad I did.
AZhitman wrote:Just to show that I'm being fair, I'll forward your concerns to Paul, Dauntt, Chet, Andy, Phil, and Anand - ALL 240 owners and Mods/Admins.

Cool! Now.. correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see Adams name under the list of forum leaders. I am to assume he has been removed from power? I don't know why, and again, I have no reason to know. Also, I never said I was pissed off at the 240 moderator crowd. I would really hate to see 240 vs 240 flames. I pointed directly at the Infiniti crowd, which is where the majority of insults to 240's originates from. Luckily, Exar-Kun, movingviolation, Aries, they all seem to know whats up with 240's, and as such, I respect them for that. Anand is a spam artist, but hes cool. I'll talk to Anand tomorrow when I see him.

In closing...I have already stated my case. I would really like to see the 240 crowd not be looked down upon so much by our "bigger, better, more luxurious, more expensive" brethren.

Smith does not own a Nissan and he has never touched an SR. Me and him are good friends on aim and have talked quite regularly, but as a mod in this section he can really do nothing. I know he has read info about 240's and SR's alike, but any new member should do the same anyways.

FreshAlloy totally dominates this forum on tech in every way shape and form.Northwest Nissans totally dominates this forum in respect and enthusiasm about Nissans in general as a manufacturer. That forum is made up generally of 240's and Sentra's all owned on the whole by the younger generations. Hell, their admins are 23 and 19 if I remember right. In my opinion that forum is the opitomy of decency and respect between admins, mods, and members.

I still hold true to my original post that this thread in general gets quickly off topic with a few post whores, then quickly dies. Yet I get threatened to be banned while it's okay by everyone else to post about boobs and ninjas. This thread is a perfect example of nico in general. So the posts about boobs aren't stupid? They contribute nothing to this thread, but they don't get deleted. Same argument goes both ways. You say one thing, but do another. How adult is that. I get threatened for supporting Buud's comments, yet he does not get threatened. How did I back off from my previous position? I clarified my meaning on a specific thought.

Ryan, a couple backhanded comments is far from "weekly'. I rest my case.

To criticize me for "bashing one of the biggest, and quickest growing trends in the import scene" makes me wonder... Why then do you (and I, and we) bash ricers? Also a "big" group with $$$ to blow. Think about that before you get all haughty about protecting drifters.

I'm not certain where the "wallet" comments come from. You seem convinced that there's some sort of monetary gain for being an admin on NICO. Three things remain true here: The advertising STILL doesn't pay the bills in full, Speeddoctor STILL comes out of pocket monthly, and admins/mods STILL are totally volunteer - No money. Period.

I don't know anything about Adam's situation - I try to let the 240 crowd police their own.

Apparently my "stupid, smarta$$ jabs" aren't as prevalent as they've been made out to be. But if you can point out instances where I am "looking down upon" the 240 crowd, I'll be glad to apologize. Fair enough?

In addition, if you can point out any Infiniti owners who deride 240's or their owners, point them out to me as well.

I can't be any fairer that that.

Ahh, touche. However, who actually embraces them? They are in a league of their own and there is no really tuning of information needed to rice out a car. You can stroll down to your local autozone and pick up all the crap you need to be a MAD TYTE JDM TUNER.

I already knew mods didn't make any money. I have never seen a forum where mods make money. But if you can give me your word, 100% that you will never make a cent off of the site, then I will retract my statement, clean and clear. If thats the case, then I question why you are so dedicated, but I think we can both agree thats not suitable for the forum.
AZhitman wrote:I don't know anything about Adam's situation - I try to let the 240 crowd police their own.

No harm there. I didn't say you were the reason his status within NICO has changed. As far as police our own. I think we already do that here. Or at least try.
AZhitman wrote:Apparently my "stupid, smarta$$ jabs" aren't as prevalent as they've been made out to be. But if you can point out instances where I am "looking down upon" the 240 crowd, I'll be glad to apologize. Fair enough?

The thread where you said something about drifting, I asked you to stop and you conceded. I appreciated that A LOT. However, it continued. Like I said, it seems to me that some threads have disappeared, but I can't prove it, so at this point, it's hearsay.
AZhitman wrote:In addition, if you can point out any Infiniti owners who deride 240's or their owners, point them out to me as well.

The only one who comes to mind is you. Repeat offenses. However, I will note it from now on if I notice it again.

I have just one question. Would you rather I just fall in line? Just stick my nose in occasionally and then be out? Seems to be what Jesse has done lately, which, regardless of anyones opinion outside of the 240 community on NICO, is a big loss. If that is what you like, I will. I'm not here to be the downfall of NICO.

Nope - I'm cool with you here, now, 100%. If you disagree with something, say so. I've never taken issue with that - Ever.

You have my word (and it's solid) that I have NEVER made money off the operation of NICO. Period.

My dedication stems from a love of the hobby and enjoyment of the people I have met through NICO. Simple as that.

I have a family, I'm raising 3 kids, I'm a parttime grad student and a government administrator, a Pop Warner Football VP and coach, a leader in my church, the Block Watch president, a damn good hubby (thanks Dear) and STILL somehow find time to stay up late working on NICO... :D I of all people shouldn't care. But I do.

I'll admit, I find it very difficult to discourage young, impressionable "first-time car owners" from pretending to be Koguchi on the streets, especially since I believe in learning proper car control FIRST (as do you, if I remember correctly). I disdain street racing, all forms of ricer-ism, and I sure as hell can't be silent when a kid wants to blow his hard-earned coin on improvements to help him slide arse-first into a curb... I'd rather him go buy a big ol' APC wing... NOT! :D

I'm fine with this now if you are. Let me know if any of this remains unresolved, as I don't sleep well when that's the case. Seriously.

Thanks Ryan.

SD - Okay - Phil's gonna have to find a new gig. I'll break it to him. You said "we have mods" - plural. One guy is all you were concerned about? Done deal. Maybe you shoulda complained when he got promoted.:rolleyes

I disagree with your statement about FA, but it's probably because I'm considering our tech expertise on ALL models, not just one or two cars. I'd put Q45tech, DAEDALUS, Adam, Nisstech and others up against their best any day. We'll just have to agree to disagree, and I'm fine with that.

I'm sure NWNissan is a cool place, and I plan to check it out, but I guarantee they don't have almost 9K members. That makes a difference, but like I said, I'll check them out and see what makes them tick.

As far as me "saying one thing and doing another", first people say they want "stupid" posts deleted, then they get pissed and whine about "censorship" (you did it yourself above). Try walking that line - it sucks.

You absolutely backed off when you said "I didn't mean it as harsh as it sounded." My point is, if you're gonna hang on Ryan's jock, maybe you'd better have a legitimate gripe - He did, and we're discussing it.

Save the bashing of mods/admins (all volunteers) for when YOU have a case. I'm all ears when you do.

Don't encourage them, jesus don't encourage them. But don't discourage them. I hate street racing as much as anybody else, but I'm not going to tell a car noob that drag racing is stupid and hes a lamer if he does it. I'll tell him to keep it off the streets, and and head to the track. The same applies to drifting. Keep it at the track or at the very minimum behind a warehouse at midnight or an isolated road in the middle of nowhere at midnight.

I've talked to some people, asking me about SR swaps, and such, on AIM. One of the first few questions is "how old are you." I have told several people to give up buying an SR at 17 years old. Buy brakes and learn how to handle the car. Grip being the best way to start. It seems bass-ackwards to learn how to control a car that has lost control before learning how to control a car. (Thanks Initial D.. :rolleyes ). Keith (240_Keyy) is doing things the right way. I like his style.

Just realize my point, thats it.

I have to agree with one thing here. I met DAEDALUS. He definitely, DEFINITELY knows what he is doing.

The problem here is that, again, the major populous of NICO is the 240SX guys. I know firsthand that the Infiniti club is in good hands; however, the 240 forum is not so much. If I can't get an answer out of the dozen or so people here who I trust, I'll head to FA or Zilvia.

Phil is a great guy and I would recommend keeping his as a mod, but in the General Section. I know that is where a lot of the bashing comes forth on a more regular basis nowadays.

I still say FA has better tech but, I am in the same boat as Buud in the sense that I am a 240 owner also, so I am here through 240sx.org only concerning 240's and their like. I know my opinion is biased on this matter so I should have clarified that in the beginning, I am sorry. We can disagree and that is fine. I am sure Nico has fine Infiniti tech, but I wouldn't know because 1. I don't go there, and 2. I don't own an Infiniti so I will keep my nose out of their forums.

NWN does not have as many members compared to Nico, but I also believe that is why NWN doesn't have nearly the problems or issues Nico faces. Please take that into consideration because this issue stems from the original topic Paul intended this thread to branch off from. What is really better, less people with more respect/knowledge, or more people who ask the same questions over and over.

Look I know my attitude is very aggressive on these boards and I have my reasons. I am glad that you seem very willing to hearing mine and other people's suggestions, so I will keep this in mind for the future and try to back off and be more helpful. Ok?

Agreed.

Now - Let's discuss Phil. I need to be honest here, i never had any intention of actually kicking him to the curb, or even moving him, for that matter. I stated that to force you into realizing that you overstated your position. Mission accomplished.

He stays, unless you can convince me that he exhibits poor judgement or is unqualified to moderate this forum.

I said this to Ryan, I'll say it to you: An aggressive 'tude doesn't bother me. If you'll notice, I am the same. I don't want you or him to just "fall in line", and if you have concerns, VOICE THEM. We'll get this thing straightened out, and NICO will be better for it.

You, Ryan, Phil, anyone else... Are welcome to call me at (602) 828-8908 anytime (reasonable hours) to discuss ANYTHING related to NICO.

That's the most open and fair and communicative that I can be.

Thanks for understanding - We're all in this together.

With the permission of the SR junkies, I'm gonna button this thread up. It appears to have served its purpose, and everyone's pretty much on the same page.

My offer stands - Call me or email me if you feel strongly about something like this in the future.

Who else would post their personal phone number in the midst of a heated battle? Call me crazy - Better yet, just call me and we'll rap.

Hitman out.
