Ah, the family all at each others throats, reminds me of thanksgiving dinner.

The decision is a month away and he could very well change his mind. Regardless of what some may wager the car started as a CA car and I intend to have it continue to be that way. IF I grab this RB and dump it in it will remain stock with just bolt ons and my Haltech and it will be temporary. Big power RB26s are quite commonplace, CAs are not and that is cool. I had a friend with a 600hp RB26 in his 180 and it was an amazing car. It also did nothing but spin tires and scare the **** out of him though.

When he would pop the hood, and he did that A LOT people would go

When my hood happened to be open at the hobby shop and someone saw the CA with the E though they went

Beating people with a 2.6 liter GT-R engine or beating them with 1.8 liters of mystery motor, you know which one is my style. Besides I would just be one of potentially a dozen Silvias and 180s with an RB26 here. I am sure my enthusiam would wane if I crossed paths with another American who is building this.

^ Yay for RB Ok so you throw it in and have 2 years to really get each and every part you want for the CA, (which you most likely already have lol). And just finish making it Bomb proof

And then have fun with a stock RB for awhile in the mean time:)

Win Win situation

I still need to buy my head and main studs, valve springs, valves and valve guides, a head gasket, timing belt, injectors fuel pump and regulator and a turbo. Not to mention having Toda cut out my quench pads and replace my guides. I think I have about $5000 more to go

That only sounds like $2500 tops man. Why not do all the machine work yourself? You have a huge garage/parking lot so I assume you have a big air compressor and an air grinder. There are how-to videos on youtube for porting the CA18 head.

Nope not even close to $2500 if you want to do it right. He's more right in the ball park figure of $5,000. SO do the RB swap and take your time with the CA making it BOMB proof!!!!! It's stupid obvious at this point!

Somebody has been watching what I am doing closely I see. I expect to put about $2500 into parts and labor on the head, figure in the turbo and some new injectors and LS1 coils and you have it pegged. It doesn't bother me spending the money, it just takes time.

I know they are all going to be "top shelf parts"... (idk what manufacturers you are going to use/ vs. if you are buying new/used).I just guesstimated that even a good new turbo alone should cost you around $2,000 by itself if not more! Unless you are staying with a garrett gt28 or something. And then at least close to another $2,000 for the rest of the parts/work you wanted done. It's actually really sweet to hear some of the minor details you are planning. I agree it's nice to see when everything is coming together! But all in good time. Most serious tuners know that patience is key, and in the end after you have put in your time D@mn is it great!!!!

It will be a large GT turbo with a divided T4 housing, ATP has them coming in under $2000 which is a lot of scratch but I'll pay it. I talked to McKinney about their cross member and one piece driveshaft so I can use my RB25 transmission, I'll likely order that stuff soon.

The 16 hour difference is a *****, have to get up at 5AM to make a phone call. Mission accomplished though, Mckinney mounts and driveshaft on the way next weak.

Hey TMS just bring the parts home when your wife isn't home. My wife never knows the difference (at least I don't think she does )

Gyahaha hilarious.

My mother does notice when new parts show up, so it doesn't work out so well for my dad. Haha.

So I buy the thing and as soon as I get home and fire up the computer there is a buddy of mine selling his for less that half what I just paid for this. His has a goofy 3rd gear though. I might grab that too. Can't hurt to have a backup,,,,and yet another backup since that would make three RB25 transmissions I have in the inventory.

Just put rugs over everything they'll never know the difference lol

Heck granted I don't have a wife to put up with but.... I live in a 835 square foot apartment. I have 2 engines on my back porch, and one transmission. My living room has 4 sets of wheels(so 16 wheels lmao). Bunch of tools and misc. car parts in my kitchen. My bedroom has all my extra performance parts/ turbo's/intercoolers/gauges/meters/ic pipes/ exhaust manifolds. My closet has a block sitting on the floor in it, along with some intake manifolds a bunch of head gaskets, and camshafts everywhere. Few down pipes etc. So needless to say everyone that comes over is like wtf when did we get to autozone lmao My stuff isn't anything, so I can only imagine the collection you have TMS Btw my friend is a wheel whore and last time we counted he has over 42 sets of wheels at his house, they take up his entire 2 car garage!!! (that's 168+ wheels lmao) Who else on here is a parts hoarder?
