What would win S13 vs Mustang

HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!weight factor guys......mustangs weigh over 1000lbs more so whats a puny little 50-75 horse more???

according to MT the fastest one is the SVT cobra @12.8/113.5MPH and 390HP.I once race a 9? mustan gt 5.0 on the free way, it wasnt from a complete stop. I pull from behind and cath up to him till when i hit red line on 4th shift 5th and i was still pulling on front I slow down and let him cath up and saw how the girl on the passanger was making fun of the guy. (all this happend really quick) so again i down shift to 4th and tryed agan this time was easier thou so I guess he reallise he got beat be a sentra and maintain the posted speed. I was drving my brothers SE-r w/ intake and exhaust. now comparing this to my sr20det. I feel pretty confident I can compete wiht a 03 gt. old cobras stock!!!If u know some one that has a stock 03 v6 or GT bring it on Ill would like to find out from personal experince rather than magazines and other persons tales. 5.0 arent that fast but i have trouble believing a sentra beat one sentras are week. you would beat a v6 but you wouldnt beat a gt. look at the posted times of one of the guys on here he has a white s13 and he ran a 14.49 with an sr and a gt runs a 14 flat or a high 13 with a good driver. Im saying stock sr vs stock gt now if you turn up the boost then you could win. And a gt weighs like 3200 hundred pounds so only about 500 more but it has 100 more torque and 60 more hp im sorry but stock for stock your gonna lose. And the 96-98 cobra had 305 hp with 308 orque u wont keep up. the the 5.0 cobra of the early 90s had 245 hp and 285 tq this would be closer but your still short 40 hp and 80 tq but 5.0s weighed more like 3500 pounds they were a little heavier and they had open diferentials so i would give you the benefit of the doubt on a 5.0 cobra but you wouldnt win by much

hahahahahaha this is fun to read, thanks. nissandet240, a sentra??? come on.... sure it was a gt? also i'm pretty sure all v8 stangs had a posi-rear rather than an open diff.

i beat a mustang yesterday...it was a V6 though :[

i have a S13 with a redtop (downpipe, exhaust, filter)

If it was a v6, he had a ****load of gauges and stickers, and i know he had an exhaust, dunno what else.

come on guys... remember power to weight ratio... my little honda crx with about 200hp woped on my freinds 87 5.0 with mods and about 325hp... POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO

i'm very sure a s-13 with a couple mods could beat a mustang...

I've beat alot of older v6 mustangs. A month ago i got beat by a 96-98 gt 4.6L, by about 2 car lengths from 0 to 90. He pulled one car length through first gear. I started to catch him in third, but still lost by 2 car lenghts. Nick

Im still interested on running a GT stock or a mod v6. dont u guys have any friend that have mustangs. :mad: I dont. :ylsuper

kinda off topic but yesterday i was on hwy 19 in CA and it has its fair share of whindy mountain passes :), but there was a newer svt mustang gt that was behind me and he was tailin me on the straightaway then as soon as we got to the mountain pass i shook him about 5 car lengths and then back on the straight my ka24e was no match. hella fun though, especially taking that stang on the pass...

well just goes to show, depending on what kinda race you doin it depends on the drivers/ skill and also if you're racing down a mountain pass or a straight. 88-95 gt's were 5.0's, anything after that is a 4.6l. imo a 5.0 would own you, but there is that fox body lx mustang that is only a 4 cyl 2.4l and has like 160ho, you could beat those for sure. prolly a V6 4.6l. 91-92 5.0's = 225hp 300ft lbs of tq, you'd prolly keep up but i don't think you'd beat em.

i raced an 92 5.0 auto with some fat guy driving it on the freeway from 70-110 and was hanging with it. I raced a nice looking 5.0 from 2nd gear at 4000rpms and pulled on him and he stoped racing

This time, it's close. Alot of factors come into play. He's got alot of low-end torque, he'll probably jump you at the beginning. But once your turbo spools, you ought to pull on him, and maybe come out on top at the very end, owing to your higher redline. Maybe. It would be close, I think. Crank up the boost a couple of pounds and you'll have a better safety margin.

2000 Cobra SVT

Weight: 3560 lbsHorsepower: 320PTW: 1:11

Prepare to have your *** handed to you in peices.

It's an easy formula, and while not with 100% "this is what will happen" predictability, it ought to give you a good idea of what would happen in a straight line.

I would just like to add that horespower figures shouldn't really be used to determine the winner, i know what you are saying though, and teh PTW is a pretty good idea. But, for one the horespower figure is at a certain rpm, so it would extremely help to know the whole powerband to get a more accurate prodiction. Also there are many other factors like tires, suspension set up, aerodynamics, gearing, driver skill, etc. so all though this does help some what it should not neccisarily detirmine the winner. not that i'm saying anything bad about your post or your idea : )

come by my area, one of my friends has a 89 notchback you can race.

its not really fair though, because its got a built 94 351 block, 8.0:1 CR, a cam, and a vortech pushing 12 psi. 11.4@131

another one of my friends has a 93 mazda RX7 with a chevy 350, cam, headwork, intake mani, headers, exhaust, and a turbo 350 transmission. we'll have plates on it by monday.
