i have two nissan, a 300zx dett and 240sx. both cars are in really good condition except my 300 is a salvage tittle car. i want to make a 10 sec drag car and i know that it take time and work, but anyways i was going to start wit the 240 cause it is by far a light car but then the 300zx with its motor i know that i could get it with jus up grade and no swap. so im trying to figure out what should i do before i jus start doing things.thanks for the help

ummm, either way a 10 sec is going to cost you a lot of money and even more in the Z because parts are way more expensive than the 240's. but good luck either way.

Sounds like a big money build. 10 Seconds, your talkin at least 20-30 grand. I would choose the 240sx, because it is lighter and cheaper to buy parts for. I would run a GM V8, or a 2JZ supra engine for they are capable of giant HP numbers. Lots of suspension parts, cage, frame stiffening, tub the rear, slicks, ect... Ur talkin a serious bit of money and lots of work ahead of you. Yes the VG30DETT is already turbo, yet the engine is expensive to make high HP, and the car itself is very heavy. I would DD the Z32, maybe do a few bolt ons to wake it up, and build the lighter, more capable body (240SX) for the track.

I would build the 240 for the same reasons as posted above. There is a 240 in my town that I believe has broke into the 9s. I have seen it run low 10s at track. I will see if I can find pics of his car.

Found one

depending on how much work you can do yourself you can get into the tens for less than 20k. You just have to build smart. You would want around 550-600whp which is doable for under 20k through many different platforms.

Yea, a 10 second KA-T that wont cost alot to build...cha...right.

10 Seconds is alot of work, lots of money, and lots of time. I mean look at the s14, that poster said that he was just pushing 9's and he has a turbo v8... Gonna be some serious money and I hope you know what your doing.

As much as i hate to say this. If you want to build a 10 second car. Get an awd 1g talon. Probably be able to do it much cheaper than anything else.

You are still looking at big money

300ZX because its an easier fit for a V8 or you can just build the VG engine that it comes with. Also the can is naturally wider so you have an advantage when it comes to fitting wider rubber.

You can let your 300zx and 240sx have a baby and have a vg30 powered s13? Since you love both?

Oh yea also a salvaged car is a PITA to insure so keeping your Non salvaged 240sx as a Daily Driver is a smart idea and using your drag only 300 as a track only car

i really thought about it, they are both really good car the only thing is that the 300 is salvage, it jus that i cant get full coverage on my insurnace which sucks but o well, the 240 is a lighter car and there is more room to work on it, plus i have 3 motor for it, so im gonna start buildin the 240 it was stressing me out for awhile cause i didnt know what i wanted to do but everyone has help me to make my decision. i know there is a lot of money involved in doing this but i blow my money and have nothing to show for it. so imma build a car, but it sux cause im a beginner

Either swap in a 2jzgte or go ls but if you really want to go east down a drag strip and that is what you really want to do seriously forget about imports and go domestic cars v8s mustangs camaros gtos they are pretty much made for the strip while imports are more well rounded all purpose machines but its up to you if it were me i would just go american muscle for the drag applications much dashes and cheaper to stay competitive with the big dogs woof woof

Thats exactly why most of us own 240s, is to beat the big dog muscle guys with our japanese cars. So, you got the theory all wrong.
