what weight oil do you guys run?

also, i thought this thread was dead and buried. guess not. depends on temp of area. i run 10w-40 castrol almost all year, but i have been known to run 20w-50 castrol in the summer months. i think i mentioned this above somewhere... who knows. wouldnt go any thicker than 10w in the summer, or thinner than 20w. thats me though, personal preferance really. i dont think these little engines care much.

Main/rod bearing clearance is another deciding factor of what weight oil you should be using. With alot of us running around with rebuilt engines, different machine shops doing the work = different clearances.

Larger clearance would call for a thicker weight oil, tighter clearance the opposite.

Look at your oil pressure gauges, are you getting enough pressure, or maybe to much? Play around with different weight oils and see what happens.

Castrol syntec 5w50 here... hasn't done me wrong yet.
