hey, i have like 500 bucks just sittin around, and i wanna start doin stuff to my 93 240 convertible, but i dont know quite what i wanna do, i was thinkin maybe struts and an intake or soemthin like that, cause i know 500 bucks is kinda small change as far as engine stuff goes. this car is a daily driver, and half the fun of buyin the stuff will b puttin it on myself. so just let me have your opinions on parts and brands and what not. thanks.

You could try an intake and possibly an exhaust. Unless your struts and springs are shot, I'd add a little bit more power since the suspension on the 240 is already fairly good. Either that or you could get some sway bars or strut tower bars.

Plan A

1 - get shocks/springs

2 - Get a turbo...stare at it..wonder how it would look strapped to your motor. Sell everything you have and get the rest of the bits you need to make it spin..

If you are considering an intake and exhaust, give me $500 and I will sit in your car and make loud exhaust noises because thats about all it'd be good for.

Sh1t yeah. Have a manual 'vert. Way more enjoyable than having a fart can.If not that, then Prokit/AGXs.

Whatever you do with it... don't do it rashly. Do the research and do the comparisons to find out EXACTLY what you want. Don't rush into anything that you will regret later. Especially because it cost you $500. while you are deciding what to do with it, you accumulate even more money and can get even better parts. It is better to look at the big picture(ie where you want your 240 to be in a couple years) then to just go at it haphazardly. You will get much better results that way.-I3laze

For sure for sure for sure do the manual swap man. There are Ka transes everywhere for dirt money. Plus im sure you could track down/source everything else from classifieds, junkyards, etc. I've seen a ca18/manual trans swap done on an auto and the hardest part was the clutch pedal and the reverse lights (not hard). Even if its over your head im sure you could pay someone to do it within the 500.00 budget.

not all convertables were autos. They came in manual as well. '94 all 240sx's were auto and convertable. Don't get that confused with the earlier years, which were offered in a manual transmission form

For $500, I'd do a 180sx VLSD swap for $200-$250 and a Q45 brake upgrade for another $250. That's just me, though.

tires are your best bet i think. convertables arent known for their extreme handling or speed, but hey, theyre fun in the sun, if thats what you like (man i wish my car had a moon roof)

amen, thats exactly what i was gonna say. maybe instead of a brake upgrade after the lsd, you would want to save for shock/struts? good luck!

Save up some more money and work on your suspension, your convertible chassis will need it.

Are you going for performance or style. if you're going for style i saw a convertable with the sil-80 conversion today or yesterday and it looked sweet. almost reminiscent of an older benz

umm...i have yet to see a manual vert from the factory. i'll believe you when i see one. (not trying to be an ***, honestly)

500 bucks would be best spent on tightening the chassis a bit. verts have just a bit too much body twist, so you might wanna consider getting a roll bar, especially for the added safety. (and if you find one that fits, tell me about it cause I really need one)
