pd dont really care bout exhaust noise hear much, mainly i would like to know if a 3' exhaust would increase or decrease power on a non turbo KA24DE

depends on the system you get. if you get a pos one, yeah...there's the one that people always fall back on saying "hey look at the dyno sheet of the 5zigen proracer, it made power on an NA all the way through the power band" but that's also a good exhaust. So it'll depend on which one you get. Not many have seen dyno time though so you might want to just look around for something that will suit your taste in what you like in terms of look since it's also pretty hard to find sound clips of these exhausts too.

Haha no mistake. I still haven't figured out the search system. That's why I don't really ask questions.

??? are we talking about the exhaust? or the piping? because a 3" exhaust is super small.... i think you mean exhaust piping. and i have heard good things about 2.5" piping. i have that on my S14 and it runs really good. but the exhaust that i wanna get is ................... the BLITZ NUR SPEC R!! dude that exhaust system is sweet! and it comes with 3 1/8" piping. perfect for my turbo setup! but for N/A go 2.5" that should do the trick!

HKS Hi-Power 85mm(3.4") Piping

Heres a video of my KA24DE with Intake and that exhaust. I cant wait to hear it with a turbo in it.

http://videos.streetfire.net/v...E.htm

The first noise on the first rev is the A/C belt slipping. The exhaust is not raspy at all at any RPM. Also its dead quiet above 4000 RPM. Kind of droning but nothing I didnt ge used too fast. I love it would reccomend and buy agane.

If you're talking about just exhaust piping, 3 inches is going to be too big if you're just running a stock engine. I think that's the point everyone is trying to get across.

If you really think you're going to gain a noticeable amount of power with a simple exhaust system you've got the wrong idea. You'll simply just sound funny on the road. If you really can't wait, go with 2.5, I'd spend my money elsewhere first though.

i had built my own 2.25 exhaust and my friends said it was too loud. i ended up buying a Megan 3" sat back system and later had it dynoed with 7 less hp in the midrange and had nothin on the top end. needless to say my old exhaust is back on and my power is back. the 3 inch did sound really good though. it SOUNDED faster when i drove it to the dyno shop. i have several before, all on nissans and 2.25 seems to do the trick. i imagine going to a 2.5 would not be detrimental as long as you intend on doing other mods like intake, and a tune. if you plan on doing a turbo later though then id go with the 3 cause it sounded awesome and it will be damnnear manditory if you wanna boost.

wanna hear something funny. it took Couppedup 9 seconds to get from 0-60 in that second vid with his "beautiful sounding exhaust". watch the end of it... lol. thats pretty crap i gotta say. watch for yourself and look at the time in the bottom right. thats about the equivalent of what he added.

On NA you will see power gains up to as far as 3 inches. Beyond that gains are minimal and might even harm.

Yes, my KA ran extremely slow after it got hot/warm. The intake piping got really hot my car had problems of power when warm/hot also thats when I had an automatic too. Soooo....doesnt really mean too much. But meh.

The larger you start going with the piping, the low speed torque will start to get compromised at a certain point; that's because the larger piping evacuates the cylinders quicker, thus lowering the combustion charge. The point at which torque starts to noticeably drop off is, a lot of people are saying is somewhere around 63.5mm (2.5") and up with an OEM setup.

A good rule-of-thumb to follow is if your setup is OEM or mildly modified, stay with a maximum of 60mm (2.36") piping. If you're running a custom high flow intake system, hot street cam, and headers, go with 63.5mm (2.5") piping. If you're running a turbo, go with 76.2mm (3") piping.
