I did some searching, and The '91-'99 RWD Serena van was available with the GA16DE in it, and the GA has the same bolt pattern as the E series engines.

It's a van, yes, but it's the only thing that will bolt straight up. Hope that helps.

I'm guessing you are working on making a RWD 310...?

Nah, I'd rather guess a turbo pulsar E15ET in another older chassis...

True, but he didn't specify if it was a turbo E15 or not.

Actually, nothing that I know of in Doc's fleet that's got an E15, so this must be a new acquisition.

The E15 was in the 82-85 Nissan Sentra/Sunny/Cherry/Pulsar quadruplets, as well as the (kinda rare) 310.

Same engine was present in turbocharged configuration in the Pulsar ET/EXA, and the foreign market Cherry Turbo, as well as something called the Langly GT/Sunny LePrix Turbo (aka foreign market B13 Sentras).

None of those cars are RWD, so it's gonna have to be a matchup, like Dave said, at the bellhousing.

EDIT: Dave's right - That Serena Van is likely to be your only good option unless you have an adapter plate made.

http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawiki ... ngine_Swap

I'm betting you'll find some of these in Puerto Rico, where the locals make the 1200cc Datsun motor make a TON of power (170hp!!!) or just have one imported (I have a possible source, I'll check with him after the holiday if you want).

If you decide on the adapter plate route, Wes has some experience there.

I'm guessing a transmission from a 210 would work, but I am only guessing because I do not know what it is going into. The motors are similar, the E series motors replaced the A series motors. Like I said, I'm guessing. C'mon Doc, I need more info!!!

Never mind. New info says that won't work. if it was an A15, it would work. :gapteeth:

You guys are great! Wow! OK...Ill come clean........Im just doing some long-term planning.......Im not happy with the running and reliability of the engines in my 63 pickup and 411 wagon.....so eventually...I want to make a change........Here are my choices...:
1. Build a killer A14 or A15 from a B310......side drafts high compression....that would be period....but reliability? decent supply

2. Use an ET 15 or ET turbo matched to RWD transmission.......(Good call by Dattebayo)...good supply of those

3. CA options...most available CA20....

4. SR 20DE supply: lots and lots thanks to G20

5. Z24 from truck

6. Ka 24 seems too big......27" high and 25"long....

I want nothing to do with having to hack and cut.......a lot want small....easy fit just want easy.....definately no turbo except if I used the E15......100-150 hp would be just fine.....want no hassle driving.....so i CAN drive them more!

PS: Im sorry ive been away......my life has been overwhelming.......it just hasnt seemed to let up........there are some changes im making..big ones..that ought to let me get my life back....Good news...my kids are great and my relationship with them is great.....

I love my Datsuns/Nissans..they are like my kids......Jon has my roadster and M30..... It has been great to see him enjoy them....now.....not after im in the grave...

Finally: I love you guys......( u know what I mean)......and I love to see what you all have made NICO into.....
Thanks! SD

I'll have to disagree on the reliability and durability of the E1 in the 320. Mine has no problem with 55-60 mph, starts right up after sitting for 3 months, and gets about 25mpg (WAY outta tune). Those engines are bulletproof.

If it's more power and minimal hassle you're after, then I'd recommend an R16 (Roadster engine).

Beyond that, an SR20DE or VE makes sense, but the G20 does you no good there- you need a rwd engine. Problem is, the trans won't fit the tunnel.

In fact, and A14 / A15 swap won't help either - Trans is too big, you'll be cutting the tunnel. Plus, you'll have to have a rear end built, since the 5.xx rear end ratio won't play nice with the new transmission ratios.

If it were my L320, I'd hit up some of those Puerto Ricans in S Florida and have the E1 rebuilt. Those guys wring a TON of power out of Datsun engines.

For the 411, the answer is simple - Let my guy build you a stroked R16. We bored and stroked ours to a 2-liter for the WRL411 and it's awesome. That's 140+ hp with bolt-ons, and it's OEM. Easy fit and no one will know, since the 411 SSS came with an R16 from the factory.

p.s. Still shopping for a CSP311, almost pulled the trigger on one out of AU. Shipping was the kicker. :(

Hey Papa great picture.....Thx RAZ....

Greg I like your ideas.......You know the H20 is a 378cc stroker version of the R16 that is still being made for fork lifts.......I like that idea..but parts are hard to find...does the R16 bolt up to my 411 trannny? My roadster ran like a top......with an R-16.....

The Ricans are tuning the A-12?.......what are they doing? How much power? Happy New Year! SD

Not hard to find at all. I have access to the crank, rods and pistons for a U20 (SRL311 engine) as well as a builder who's done over 100 stroked 1600's.

Your 411 has a J13, so I believe it will bolt up. But you'll want the ratios from the Roadster trans (which is no big deal, you'd get the trans with the R16 5-main when you decide to build a stroker).

If you could find a SSS 411, the R16 is already in it. :gapteeth:

If you want Kevin Desirello to build you a stroker, I'll tell him to start looking for a 5-main R16 and a 5-speed.

Then, you'll just need the special intake manifold and exhaust manifold (that lets the R16 fit in the narrower 411 engine bay). I know where a couple of those are as well.

I'd store the J13 though. Never know when you'll want to make it stock again.

Whatever CR the flat-top pistons make... Not sure.

Engine size is increased from 1595 to 1982cc, a 24% gain. We also went with a custom-grind Isky cam with a healthy lope. VERY out-of-place in a wagon. :)

Carbs are from a SRL311. I run Premium in it.

When we left the house, we could see our breath it was so cold. I drove the 311, top down. Hey, with thick jeans, two shirts, two coats, gloves, and the heater going, it wasn't half bad! ;)
