holy sdfjkhasdjf dude WTF, i wish you could get away with something like that in CT . . . you would be in prison if that happened up here. . .psi101101 wrote: i grabbed my brothers M16 and ran out, sprayed the car and i killed him, and the car was totally screwed up due to my nervousness... about breathing and staying calm just didnt go so well..
well, the thing is, I'm almost positive these are the same guys that broke in last time... same motus operandi... %am, Saturday morning, break in through the window. As a matter of fact, Blake's window looks just like mine did the last time... this time they were just greedy, and stayed around too long aftr the pager had paged me!marlin29311 wrote:Damn Rob...that's crazy - isn't this like the 2nd or 3rd time this month or so? I don't think I could live like that - too much fear and commotion - props to you for keeping your cool under the situation and not making it any worse than it already was...hopefully this stuff will stop happening - i'm sure it's taking a toll on your family...
Merry Christmas everyone!
wow... yeah, that's something I never thought about (please note the extreme f*cking sarcasm here)... what a great idea... seriously dude, if you're just gonna offer pointless a$$ suggestions that any idiot would have done after the first break in, then don't even waste your time posting "BRO"... there is no garage near me... surely I would have done that by now if there were... I live in an apartment building!toxik wrote:bro invest in a garage
Dude, I understand your frustration, and of course, after three break ins, my gut instinct was to put one in him... but you must always think about the consequences/// Texas and California are polar opposites regarding gun laws and self defense. In California, you would definately be in pison for attempted murder, no doubt. THings are waaayy different in Texas. In most states, you can't shoot someone if they are fleeing.. that means you pursued them... also, when I told the individual to drop the weapon, he did, thus he had given up, if he didn't drop it, I would have put one in his chest, absolutely! Its all about the immediate circumstances, little things make a big difference!psi101101 wrote:goddamn, glad to hear u made the best from the situation, down here in texas it must be different.. my situation was similar but at 3:34 am, long story short, my brother owns an 08 cadillac XRL-V, and the guy went down the driveway, drove about 2 houses down, and then i grabbed my brothers M16 and ran out, sprayed the car and i killed him, and the car was totally screwed up due to my nervousness... about breathing and staying calm just didnt go so well..
so then they charged me for attempted manslaughter, they said i had the intention to kill not wound him.. there were 9 bullets in him btw
so i was on house arrest for 4 months. is this **** even right??
this was when the hurricane Ike came, and houston was out of electricty for about 1 month..
Rob - you are really lucky - it seems that a bad situation could have easily turned worse. You haven't really mentioned anything of any aftermath regarding the gun and firing it. So I guess that means the Police felt you were justified.rjdmmfl1 wrote:OK, so its official, pager alarms are the best thing since sliced bread....
5am, 12-13-08, I had just finished taking some flu medicine, when my pager alarm starts to go off... I grab my 9mm, and head downstairs to my car.. as I approach, I see a car parked in front of mine and my alarm is going off... I c*** back the weapon and tell the gentleman with my Nav unit in his hands to freeze... I tell everyone else to "get out of the f*cking car" they don't listen, and I notice the driver has a long weapon of some sort in his hands... without hesitation I fire warning shots over his head he drops his weapon( turned out to be the long screwdriver used during the break in) and exits the car, so do the rest of his cronies.. 2 girls and 2 dudes total... I proceed to hold them until the police come... then the dudes turn into crying females begging me not to shoot them ..." dog, don't shoot me man, I got kids, I got warrants, I don't want to go to jail," etc., etc as they walk towards the front of the building, the two guys take off on foot, the girls stay put
In the end, the cops come , I immediately hand over my weapon, and explain to them exactly what happened... turns out, there were 7 other stolen cd/dvd players in the dudes' car.. they were apparently christmas shopping with a Free-ninety nine discount card!
In any case, they tow the car and let the chicks go due to insuficient evidence.... my car window is jacked up, my stereo is damaged, wiring in the vehicle is jacked up... am I mad? .. well, yeah, but there's a few morals to the story
1. The proximity to christmas, and the recent tragic events here in San Diego were on my mind , and those are the main reasons i didn't kill the guy with my stereo (not that I think he deserved to die for robbing me, but because he had a weapon of some sort that was indistinguishable in the dim street light, and legally, I had the right to shoot him if I thought my life was threatened, or if he didn't drop the weapon when asked!)... Honesly, I didn't want that on my conscious!
2. I've said it a thousand times, if you have aftermarket stuff in your car, then get both extended car stereo insurance, and a remote pager alarm for your vehicle. I have the RS-1000 OLED alarm, and this is the reason this situation turned out the way it did. Invest your money wisely!
3. If you are ever in this situation, STAY CALM, BE SMART, and BE CAREFUL. This situation could have ended much worse. Had either of the 4 individuals been armed, I wouln't have hesitated to put them down, but that was not my intention when I approached them. Keeping a level head in this type of situation can mean all the difference in the world in keeping a bad situation from getting worse... for both you and the other individuals.
Be safe folks during the holidays.....

about the fleeing thing, you cant shoot someone even if they are fleeing in your car?? ive asked my lawyers about this, and some said yes, some said no?? sorjdmmfl1 wrote:

When a gun is involved, you have to make sure you keep a calm head about you... no way am I risking all the hard work I've done for the last 10 years of school for a stereo, but if my life was in jeapordy, that's a different story!
as far as i know, if they are fleeing or they have given up, then no, you're not suppose to shoot them... if you do, you become the aggressor, even if they have your stuff! If they are in your house, the rules are different forr different states. In Texas, if they are in your house, its shoot to kill. Same thing in Florida now. In California, you're suppose to have a reasonable fear for your life to kill them, but most judges aren't gonna be that anal !psi101101 wrote:

Regarding you and Cali's questions... actually.. the Cops told me I should have shot him...LongBeachCoupe wrote:In texas i believe your allowed to drive around with a pistol in your lap and a half empty bottle of liquor... Its really "cowboy" style in TX lol.
Im also curious to the "beef" if any the cops gave you about firing.also, any luck with your complex manager? I dont think cameras are out of the question after an event like this. If they say no (i dont know how they could), with your electrical knowledge, its a piece of cake to hook up a series of IR cameras in the garage linked to a recorder... Even though it may not provide the evidence to catch someone, maybe they will look for easier prey rather than take the risk.
I think this should make the local papers (did it?)... and since the guys got away, im sure they will be spreading the word about their experience, and if its the same "circle" of XXckin thieves, they should get a clear message that they got their 1 "pass" and next time the only electronics they will get away with are life support.
