which one would you guys rather have? i currently have a ca18det.. and im wanting a new setup to play with.. i was thinking either rb25det, sr20det, or ka-t. the ka can hold around 600hp on the bottom end.. so thats the only thing dragging me towards the ka-t. just some opinions of what motor you guys would rather have would be nice.. thanks.

This has been debated forever. There is no real answer, its all about preference. And the KADE bottom end will only hold about 350hp reliably, stock that is.

Yes, but that's what I was saying. The KA-T is only good for about 350whp on the stock bottom end. No way to get 600hp on stock block. And 600 on street in a 240 is overkill.

I think Phat-Kat has some pretty high #'s on stock block. Of course, perfect tuning is a must

what kind of budget are you thinking?

and by the way Ivan got something like 520rwhp out of a stock KA bottom end, but when he tore down the motor to look at it after not much driving he found one of the rods slightly warped...id say itll do at least 400 reliably but theres always a point where it cant do it anymore...

I think you should sell that CA18DET motorset on NICO when you decide what else you want.

Go with an RB20 or RB25.

He got that with forged pistons and shotpeened rods.

why not just an S15 sr20, with perfect dyno tuning, and some decent mods like, engine lightening, battery reposition, upgrade turbo, new front mount intercooler. all the bangin' stuff on the s15 sr20. all that'd probobly put it up to about 450, which if you ever want to take the thing on the street normaly would probobly be the best you'd wanna get away with.

That'd be sweet, does anyone have an FJ in an S13-14 that we know of?

Why not just get a real DR30 Turbo? What was the first year of those? They'll be eligible for historic status in a couple years, exempt from all DOT and EPA regs....if you can find one, that is...

Well, JGTC GT500 Supras used to use the 3SGTE, mounted way back in the engine bay.

Now they all use NA 3UZ-FE V8s. (apparently what comes in the GS430?)

The GT500 Z's all use VQ30DETT's too....is that even a production engine?

The GT300 Z's use highly modified VQ35DE's.
