Ive heard they are in fact 3s-gte's. They choose it for the lighter weight compared to the 2jz. As a race motor (rebuilt everday), the weight plays a bigger factor than the stress of maxing out the power of a 2.0L I4.

Used to be 3S-GTE's. That's why Top Secret built the GT300 Supra shop car, they wanted to show that they could do it too. Same thing, mounted waaaay far back for better weight dist.

JGTC site says 3UZ-FE for all Supras (GT300 & 500).

Apparently they get stroked to 5.2L, or something like that.

I don't know much about the engine, anyone know where to get neato details from?

because gt500 makes it so 3sgtes are capable with the hp restriction. same with why the sr in the daishin and the cwest silvia are capable. have you guys seen how their suspension looks like? theyre not really pushing the motor that hard either.

the 3sgte has a scary amount of torque. i like watching underdogs in the jgtc competition. im not a big fan of those 8banger supras or rb26 34s. the nsxs and the other cars are fun to watch
