So my internship here at BFDS is about to expire in the next few days, I've done some mock interviews with my supervisors....and they tell me theres a final project: build a presentation on anything I want, work safe of course. Has to be engaging, can be comical, and last for 15 minutes. This will be to mid level managers.

What did I choose for this? What makes the internet AWESOME. I chose this because, well, the internet IS awesome. And I want to tell them WHY :chuckle:

I'd like to hear what you guys come up with that I can throw into the resume, in your opinion. Obviously, it must be work safe! Please skip the pronz, pedobear, or anything sexual or has swearing in it, or somethign you just can't show your boss without getting fired/suspended/harassment suit filed against you.

What do you all like about the internet, and why?! And if you hate it, why do you hate it?

KTHXBAI

Truly unfiltered free speech and forums. Forums make the internet awesome. Hope the project goes well and you get the job!

If you're at a mid level management meeting, are you really going to mention p0rn?

Come on. that's like putting d!ck pics up on your linked in and monster profile.

Rapid transfer of information - thanks Razi
Booking travel anywhere minus the sitting naked. Thanks Frapjap.
Srphoenix, that's what I'm hoping for. I just sent an email to the CEO and he actually wants to meet up with me today. Hopefully it goes as well as the presentation did.

If you guys have anything more that hasn't been said, feel free to post up.(p0rn has been said, doing X while naked has been said, so nothing along the lines of sexual/harassment/foul language, please.) I know i'm asking for a level of maturity impossible for the internet but, I have faith in all of you to get it together somehow.

Another thought, instead of having us do your assignment for you, perhaps you could share what you have and let us add to it?

I already did bubba, I started the idea with internet memes!

*edit this is what I got

Internet Memes
Nicoclub (Discussion Forums)
GOOGLE (Search Engines)
The actual computers
Personal Websites/Blogs
Education
Social Networking
Rapid transfer of data/The CLOUD
Online Stores/Business Websites
Online Banking

The first five are my top 5 favorites, the other 5 are ones that others might usually pick as reasons why the internet is awesome, minus pron.

A presentation on how the internet is awesome seems a little kiddish, even for an intern presentation.

I would personally choose something a little more relevant, I guess? I dunno... :gotme

^ Seeing that the 30 yr old Sharepoint Administrator before me, and still employed, picked, 'How to survive a Velociraptor attack' as his presentation piece, I believe that my idea is following the guidelines...

I like that the internet is a big mess of random info. For example. I just picked up a new shotgun and was having trouble with it. Five minute Google search and I have an explanation with pictures of how to fix it and it's fixed! If SOPA was passed some bureaucrat would say the thread on that forum was the author's intellectual property or some such crap, which it is, but obviously freely shared, and it would be locked up.

Information is power and there are those that don't wish to see free access to information. They want to be the gatekeepers to knowledge and they use the red herring of pirated movies as a front for what the real game is, control.

They underestimated what potential the net had and let the genie out of the bottle without handcuffs. There has not been a free release of knowledge to the common person like this since the printing press. The elites regret that s*** too.
