I SEE NO DIFFERENCES AT ALL. THE CROSS MEMEBER SITS IN THE SAME PLACE I COULD MOUNT THE R32 RACK AND PINION ON IT RHD AND LHD POSITIONS. THE MOTOR SITS IN THE SAME POSITION ON BOTH, WHAT IS THE POINT OF SWITCHING CROSS MEMBERS?

WELL I HAVE BEEN PLAYING AROUND WITH MY CAR AND THEY ARE LOOKING TO ME AND MY FRIEND TO BE THE SAME. THE ENGINE SITS THE SAME TOO. SO I THINK I AM GOING TO CHECK TO SEE WHICH IS IN BETTER CONDITION AND USE THAT ONE.

So are the Rb20 and RB25 different sizes or did no one bother to try to use the stock crossmember. The engine sits the same with 240 crossmember AND 240 mounts or 240 xmember and RB mounts???

RB MOUNTS CAUSE ITS A DIFFERENT ENGINE DESIGN. YEAH BUT I WAS USING BOTH CROSSMEMBERS AND THEY ARE THE SAME. AND THE RACK IS REVERSABLE IF YOU WANT VARIABLE STEERING PRESSURE (I.E. THE FASTER YOU GO THE TIGHTER IT GETS) ITS ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED. THE TRANS CROSSMEMEBER NEEDS TO BE CHANGED THOUGH. THE SUSPENSION IS ALMOST EXACTLY THE SAME. TIE RODS ARE EXACTLY THE SAME.

How hard is it to unbolt the crossmember and change it versus unbolting the mounts??? I may just use the Rb Xmember since I have to use the mounts. I dont know. I gotta get an RB first

WELL ITS FOUR BOLTS ON EACH CROSS MEMBER. DON'T GET ME WRONG SWAPPING THE CROSS MEMBER IS EASIEST IF YOU CAN LOWER THE ENGINE BELOW THE CLIP AND THEN REVERSE IT TO INSTALL IT. OHH ITS TWO BOLTS FOR THE MOUNTS.

YOU HAVE TO UNBOLT THE MOUNTS UNLESS YOU HAVE A LIFT.

About 7 inches is the difference. The rb x-member section where the isolaters would sit normally is set further forward.

so is the r32 and 89-90 crossmemeber the same. I am gettign a 89 in very good condition or $500 the engine is actually still good only needing a waterpump but hell, I'm going to toss an rb20 in there. You you say I only need a Engien transplant then? Or is a Clip still a neccessity? Kinda off topic but I had heard that an rb20 into a s13 coupe dosen't need a new drive shaft as it is the same length as teh ka24e ?

Thanks in advance

I would still get a clip. You can get the tach (unless you get a aftermarket one). To me it is more piece of mind. I have something to go by when swapping and I am more sure that what I need is there. Plus you may get extra stuff.

VENUS PRETTY MUCH STRIPS IT. I DIDN'T GET A STEERING COLUM, BRAKES, SUSPENSION, DASH, STEERING WHEEL, ANYTHING BUT THE MOTOR AND LIKE THE AC CONTROLS. THE CLUSTER WAS JUST THROWING THERE SO I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF ITS FROM THIS CAR, IT WASN'T CONNECTED OR ANYTHING. THEY REMOVED THE AFTER MARKET RADIO.... THE REASON I KNOW THERE WAS ONE WAS BECAUSE THEY HAD A WIRING HARNESS HARD WIRED TO THE BATTERY.

i got a steering column, wheel, cluster, and dash w/ my clip from Venus. I also got the climate control unit that I'm not gonna be using. I've never studied the mounts, but I think they sit the motor about 6-7 inches further forward than the KA X-member.

If I dont get an engine soon...I SWEAR I'll buy a 3 cylinder Metro! Just think of the fun junkyard engine swap possibilities if you dont mind lots of cutting and welding ;)
