what is so rice about interior/exterior neon?

i mean really why is it that nearly everyone thinks neon is rice? i mean if a car is s***ty and rice then neons definitly look bad but on a well done up car they dont look bad and can even make it look better....opinions? example is my car. its blue with blue interior with blue interior neon with matching blue lighted stock cluster and blue led switches. i think i pulled it off well....my definition of rice is something cheap, done wrong, and makes the car look crappier than before....i mean not all people need alot of power to be happy with there car or even can handle it but still want to improve the look of there car....maybe im wrong

It's just that it doesn't serve much of a purpose other than 'hey look at me!'.

That said, you did do it nicely. At least they're hidden, I think it would look better if you wrapped the bulbs in a tint film so they'd be more subtle.

thank you...the lower lights are fine but the top one i only use very little i usually have it off because it is way to bright....but it still is fun to have when im parked and girls love it lol

keep wasting your money on useless mods and then try and argue why we should approve of it. its your own wonderful car. do what you want. but dont get butthurt when we tell you the truth that it looks like some my dog just did outside. its little s***s like you that make 240gen the way it is.

if you want to contribute. maybe post up a right up on how you cleanly installed interior neons. at least you will get props for the right up, even if people dont like the idea.

my s14 interior is mostly blacked out and i have blue neons in the same location and i love it. to each there own man, if anyone says anything i do is rice they can f*** off, its my car. the only way i belive to pull off any neon lights is to have an extremely clean car. if you are going to do it outside, dont have dents and stock wheels and ride height. same with interior..dont have cds everywhere and dirty clothes and garbage.

I guess it really depends on the people, and what group of people you constantly hang around. Personally I think neons are awesome. I have red underbody glow on my Eclipse as well as the inside. The car is 100% clean, its a nice true white paint job with FWD rims (Motegi FF7) 17"....they flow very well with the car even though its stock bodykit.

I'm going to admit though they wouldn't look right on my 240 hatch. Most the people here are going to tell you its a "useless mod" because it doesnt make you go faster, thats because your looking into the eyes of people who are car people. They know their s***. People like me Im not to much mechanically inclined so my cars I don't need HP because A. there is no tracks around me out my way of an hour or so. B. I'm not racing on public roads...so their is no point in power and C. plain and simple I dont know s*** but im learning. I just lower the car and put a nice paint job rims on the car and dress up as neons. The people I live by dont know s*** about cars either so they think my 240 as well as my Eclipse hauls a**.

I'd personally have a nice car tha goes slow and handles well, than a peice of s*** looking one with tons of HP you'll never be able to fully use on the street that has maybe good handling or s*** handling. To each own preference...people call me rice I don't care people can argue on my point of view in reality its the truth. So yeah.....thats my point but all you "internet gangsters" can talk s*** on me it doesnt matter because it's the "internet".....yeah

nah im not tryin to sound serious...it just the same thing I always see typed the either "Rice" and or "useless mod". Believe PA is already bad, well near me anyway. Yeah I can see why people say it because, in most states your not allowed to drive with them on. They look bad a** though if your on the track or something...I never have my outside ones on though its always my inside ones..but you know its people preferences in cars. My Eclipse which is my daily is flashy...the 93 Hatch is a project which isn't gonna be flash at all because its track use only...so no point.

It's all about how you wear it. If you feel the need to justify something as cool to others, then it's most likely lame and they'll call you a ricer because everyone loves to throw that term around. If you're doing it for fun and because you like it, then it's cool.

on a more serious note, i got some interior lighting projects that are upcoming on my spring 09 build... judging by most of NICO's reactions on here... they will HATE it lol... and ill realize they have closed minds

and here's a shocker to most, and this is coming from a professional car electronics installer, manager of a shop... your install is VERY cleanly done, especially for a 16 year old. good job dude. i cant see the bars at all... and the light spread is even, no hotspots. blue is not my favorite color, but its in a blue interior...
