So I just purchased a 1993 240sx. I am going to replace the motor with a stock KA because the engine has a sprung bearing. I figured that just relpacing the whole engine would be easier worring about the other bearings giving up. So I want to add some power to the car. I was always thinking turbo but then I started looking at prices and stuff and kind of changed my mind. So then I thought that an all motor car would be cool. But I could not get the thought of a turbo out of my head. So then I thought well maybe a SR swap, but that was dropped quick because of the legality. So I am back to thinking about putting a turbo on the KA.

Since it is going to be a newer engine I shoudn't have to worry about a rebuild right? I am only planning on running around 7psi on it. I don't want to spend too much money but I want a reliable system (I know that you pay to play but I don't want to pay too much still). So I guess I am thinking somewhere around $1500-2000 but definatly closer to $1500. If it possible I would want everything that I would need to run a turbo in that budget. Is it possible? If so then can you list out what I will I will be needing? Thank you.

Turbos aren't legal in KA's either. When I thought about going KA-T, the KA-T section helped me out a lot. Lots of KA-T guys start out with T25 turbos and are able to keep within the budget that you set.

Yeah but it's a lot easier to put a new ka motor in then pass inspection then turbo. If I went with the SR I would have to either fix the KA then pass inspection then put the SR in OR I could put the SR and hope for the best at the DMV. I should of explained myself more instead of just saying that that I'm worried about legality.

If your asking what you need to turbo your car you shouldn't be messing with turbos......period, dot.

Go research more so you don't have to ask for a "list". These threads are getting annoying.

seriously, these threads really are getting annoying, and im barely on here anymore. there's some great stickies at the top of the ka-t section, heck all of the sections. also the search bar works wonders. but i will give you 3 tips:1. to do an sr swap to get the same amount of power as a ka-t typically costs more.2. become friends with someone who does inspections.3. read, read, and read some more before you start messing with forced induction or you will blow your sh*t up. it's not as simple as bolting the stuff on and driving. it's not difficult either, but if you don't do it right you will have wasted a whole lotta cash.

Sorry about the post. I have read through the stickeys and they have been helpful. I made a thread to see if anyone has any advice on what would be the best for me in that price range. I know that people on this forum know a lot more than me about the 240sx so I figured why not ask. I should of posted this in the first stickey. Sorry for the repeat.

I have nothing to add to the thread because i dont believe in the KA-T.But i will say this:

Flaming is almost guaranteed whenever threads like this come up.i can almost guarantee, if i sat and did a search for maybe 5 - 10 mins i could find all the answers you are looking for. From what i gather you are thinking:Turbo'ing a KA1500-2000 budgetlow psireliability goes without saying

Now im no expert, but im pretty sure somewhere on NICO someone was looking for or built an engine that fits those criteria. There is no way you couldnt find info, and as such starting a whole thread about it seems a little lazy.

Nonetheless, if you want to get absolutely flame-free answers may i suggest this thread:zerothread/249603

NICO is definitely one of the friendlier places. There's still some unofficial forum etiquettes that a lot of people go by. It's all in how you ask. For example you asked what turbo is right for you, but you didn't state what your intentions with the car was. Anyways here was a list that I made for myself when I was interested in KA-T. A lot of this stuff you might not need but I like to add in extra things in there and a lot of it was right off of JGS's website but that'd probably be over your budget.

Turbo Kit- T3/T04E 50 trim .63 A/R housing KA24DE turbo manifold JGS400 Wastegate KA24(D)E downpipe and wg pipe set T3 mounting studs JGS KA24E oil feed & return line kit Turbo cement EGR plug Power Steering Resivore Relocation Kit 0.062" Oil Pressure Restrictor (for use if oil pressure is too high).

Fuel Injectors- SR 370cc injectors

ECU- EFI Specialist/Enthalpy

Blow Off Valve

Motormounts- JGS Motor & transmission mounts
